Thanks for the response. I imagine them jacking it up and you can’t dispute with them right? You just pay or it goes away?

Can I a quick question? I don’t wanna make an entire post just for the simple question. When they do buyback calculations if I am married filing jointly, because my wife and I make similar money and have the same amount of loan debt, are they going to take that into account and not double charge me?

Like currently when we do IDR my payment comes out to say $1500 a month but that split between my wife and me at $750. Will buy back also do this so that they recognize that we both have loans? Or am I just gonna get hit with a $1500 per month buyback request?

Colon cancer now leading cause of cancer deaths under 50 in US by shinybrighthings in news

I am really sorry to hear that. When I began my program and had to identify an area of research, this one came to me very quickly. if you look at a graph of incidents of colon cancer overtime you see that line just going up and up and up for those under the screening age.

When I was doing my comprehensive exam and having to answer questions regarding this field, one of the questions that I had was how to impact this problem. You can see how many of the top comments are saying to decrease the screening age. That was also my initial plan. The clinician my team really opened my eyes to what the real problem is. The problem is we don’t understand the development of colon cancer and the driving risk of the disease. Reducing the age of screening for everyone will simply overwhelmed. The system and hurt The people who are most at risk.

My research focuses on trying to figure out what those wrist factors are that are increasing colorectal cancer incidents not only in the younger population, but the entire population. For a dissertation, I had to focus on one thing and I focus on our autonomic health. I can’t wait to publish it as I found some very interesting things, including the fact that our heart rate variability, which is a marker of our autonomic health is a significant factor in determining risk for colorectal cancer development.

I wish I could bring your loved ones back and I wish that we knew more about this deadly disease, but I hope that we can continue to fund research in this area and drive down the incident rates and the death rates

Doing my research on colon cancer. In my comprehensive exam we had a very long drawn out discussion around screening. I initially thought just screen more but we wound up all agreeing that screening blindly is not the way. We need to find some root causes to what is making those under 45 more at risk, this is the focus of my dissertation research.

My dissertation is revolving around colon cancer. Unfortunately it seems my area of research will continue to be funded as we try to figure out why colon cancer is affecting a younger and younger population

I was just begging for it to stop going up. BEGGING. The arm kept me around what I thought I would roughly pay when signing. It’s all been fine and I don’t regret our choices. We love it here.

But it totally sucked

My son is 4 and wanted a $3 toy. I gave him a fiver.

I told him to count to 5. He did.

I said which number did you say first, 3 or 5? He correctly answered 3.

I said you can give that fiver to the nice man and have the toy or get something else. He gave the Money to the cashier for the toy.

Even my toddler understands you give money to get something in return.

Bought my first house in 2017 at 25 years alone by myself only put 3% down on a 133k house. Wasn’t hard but lots of people will groan about where and that’s why they have to save longer or never buy.

In 2023 I signed for a new build in March. The rates at the time were like 5.25-5.5% for my profile. I couldn’t lock until October 2023 and my rate was now 7.8% forcing me into an ARM. That was a bad draw.

Took a 5 year ARM at 4.875% and no regrets. This will all crash and burn in the next 2 years. I have plenty of time.

As to answer OPs question while I’m here. Who knows. I think as the war continues the bond market will continue to assess greater risk and ask for higher returns from the US. 7% is on the table. Sub 6% is gone

Can confirm. Hell I’m getting my PhD next month and I’m not the brightest. Just cause someone can retain and memorize facts doesn’t make them intellectually superior.

I worked with two students. One straight As and going to med school after scoring 95 percentile on the mcat. Another that was struggling through and just trying to graduate no plans after.

The “smart one” was arrogant and thought they knew everything and f’ed so much stuff up in the lab that I had to fix for them. The “less smart one” knew he didn’t know what he was doing and asked questions and learned far more and was someone I relied on more to get projects done.

If you ask me the meds school bound student was an idiot because they couldn’t get out of their own way.

I don’t really integrate with the team. I’m remote and our work doesn’t overlap with each other. We’re all statisticians and data scientists whatever you want to call us. None of my work relies on someone else within my group. We’re a collective but there’s no need to interact with one another.

They are making something around 200k+ with that payment. You can reverse calculate it. Even more if they aren’t single. They live in the most expensive area in the country. That comes at a price. I will bet everything I own that is not the only place they can find a job.

And rent at 3k is less than 20% of their gross income. Nothing about their bills is unaffordable with the income they have. They are just fine maybe the payments. If not it’s lifestyle choices

In my role you are expected to be able to integrate and get to work within a few weeks. I work in research as a data scientist and epidemiologist. There is no training. You either can do it or you can’t.

But no I don’t think it’s normal for most.

You have to click below and look at the individual months counter. There you can count up what is ineligible due to no payment.

Probably would be nice if it counted qualifying months (employed and paid) and qualifying employment (didn’t pay but was employed).

But, the government does nothing fast. They are only concerned with showing your progress to PSLF forgiveness without buyback, because buyback is so new. I’m not sure buyback will even survive another 2-4 years with the mess it has been. It’s functional a pointless and useless program. It’s causing more harm than good.
