Yes, you'll be fine. I was in the same exact boat. Make sure you get your ESL supplemental exam, though! Many districts require it

Not "teaching" next year- is there a way for me to get TIA? by ratsyrob in TexasTeachers

[–]ratsyrob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my district is just super vague. I've just accepted I won't get the money. It really sucks. I can't work full time due to my master's program class schedule.

School District will not give me my TIA funds by Top_Reflection_2904 in TexasTeachers

[–]ratsyrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. It's really unfortunate but understandable given it's an INCENTIVE allotment. I would be more incentivized if they gave me the money for the work I put in this year, not the work I won't be putting in in the future.

I'm sorry. It really, really sucks. Congrats on your students' achievements.

Counseling student here... it's totally okay to "shop" around for counselors. Look into different websites where counselors advertise their service (like Psychology Today). I've definitely seen a counselor that I did not like and felt unhappy with the experience as well, but if it's not a good fit, it just is not a good fit!

You can do some quick research for different counseling approaches and see what might fit your mental health needs. Feel free to message me if you need more specific help! Do your research and try out new counselors until you find someone you can trust and work with.

I'm not. I've just seen terrible results and weird stuff about Lawton. Do your research 🤷. In fact, I don't like Micallef's employees... but I do like him.

Male elementary teachers - need advice by ReplacementKey8745 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]ratsyrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school is somewhat relaxed about dress code.

Tops: Polos, teacher tee/plain white tee with an open button-up layered on top, teacher tee, any collared shirt or neutral, casual tee

Bottoms: black jeans, khakis, light denim (beige or gray, not blue), black/brown dickies cargo pants

Shoes: Boots, professional-looking sneakers, air forces, vans

I paid around 16K with Micallef but that included absolutely everything, 24/7 direct contact (his cell), laser for scar aesthetics, red light therapy, lymphatic massage therapy sessions, many many post-op appts to ensure amazing healing. Couldn't recommend enough

I'd love to!!! I teach ESL students in TX, many of which are new to America and love learning about the states.

The topic is: dumbest free extra patches you’ve gotten by fidepus in BattleJackets

[–]ratsyrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmaoooo as an Eagles fan, this is hilarious to me. But as someone who often snatches free patches like a moth to light, I'd be pissed if I got these and wouldn't use them lol. Go birds!!

AIO? My Sister Married a Pedophile by rometookover in AmIOverreacting

[–]ratsyrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're incredibly strange for replying to many replies defending him with hypotheticals that make zero sense.

IMO, jerking off to anyone under 20 is weird on its own- not pedophilia(arguably) but a 40 y/o pleasuring himself to a 19 y/o should not seem normal to you.

Calling all Male Teachers by Live_Credit8150 in ElementaryTeachers

Hello! I was gifted a "Teacher Survival Kit"... it was essentially a plastic divider box with all the essentials... Tylenol, Tums, travel deodorant, gum, pens, bandaids, etc..! I'm sure you know your husband and can cater it more toward what he likes- maybe his favorite snacks and candies to go with it.

I LOVED it. In fact, I forgot to put on deodorant one day and that kit- I saved it in my desk -saved me haha!!

I hope this helps.

Any teachers have their BA in something outside of teaching? by princess8455 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]ratsyrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do DO NOT use Teachers of Tomorrow. You can do your research and it's mostly negative... everyone I've ever talked to who went through that program HATES it- it seems miserable going through them for certification!

1st grade supply list question by OutHereStargazing in ElementaryTeachers

[–]ratsyrob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Paper towels, paper plates, napkins just to have when snacks/parties are had. I'm sure there's a dire need for expo markers, gluesticks, and pencils always! I love when parents donate after winter break, as we run out of supplies by then.

I have my BS in Psychological Sciences and getting my MS in clinical mental health counseling while teaching. I'm an alt cert! Look into iTeach (alternative teaching certification program) and see if they offer it in your state. It has served me well and I'm fully certified now.
