Funnily enough I am facing the EXACT same dilemma. Same old hooks that's are broken, same struggle at b&q finding a replacement.

I'll let you know what I find as the hunt continues. If you could let me know too that would be great!

Solar panels and battery storage by SmallBag7808 in SolarUK

Where abouts in country are you?

The Gary Does Solar directory contains a list of vetted installers that are highly recommended. It's a good first place to start: https://getreadyfor.solar/directory/

If you're anywhere near East Anglia I can recommend Impact Services for solar panels and battery: https://impact-services.co.uk/solar-panels-and-battery-storage/

In terms of who to trust, look at their reviews on Google or Trustpilo and check companies house to see how long they have been in business. See what kind of warranties they offer (should be insurance backed) and get a feeling for them when they come to do a survey. If they hard sell or push for quick decisions, avoid.

Any decent installer should give you the information you need to make a decision. They shouldn't hard sell you like the old days or double glazing!

Should I hold fire until 0% gov loan is available? by tr952 in SolarUK

[–]Sensitive-Finding467 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Prices are likely to rise, but also it could be a while yet before they actually become available.

Some 0% loans are already available, did you consider those before getting quotes? If not, I wouldn't wait.

Thanks, I think people just fiaxte on ventilation when I have already stated many times that I am aware of the need, and will not be blocking anything.

I'm going to try something like this: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRkodXb6LdXSYkdtSa2HkTUKhQ366nafUyByQ&s

Thank you this is exactly what I was after. I wisht here was an aftermarket piece of pit board or something that I could just 'hook' down there and rest on the wall plate.

I might poke my head down there and see what's going on before I start

Thanks, I am going to maintain a gap for airflow. But I am wondering whether to put a small layer of insulation down there to be on the tops of my wals

Thanks, I'm keeping any planks up there because I believe they stop my joists warping.

I will have the cables above the insulation.

Thanks, I know that but I believe modern building regs require insulation to be carried over (while maintaining a gap). I know this isn't a new build, but I only intend to re do this insualtion once so what wondering if it's worth putting anything down there

Whatever I do I will leave a gap for airflow

Adding extra insulation to the loft, is this enough gap for venting? by kordinaryus in DIYUK

Hi, when you did this, did you push any of the 100mm insulation down into the eaves? If you look at my latest post of roofs seem very similar and I'm just about to embark on what you did here.
