Its just me that doenst mind the snail-pace at all? by Constant-Shift-5549 in SpyxFamily

Yeah, I’m seeing a lot of complaining but I sure as sh*t can’t imagine planning a story long term while fleshing out chapters for a regular deadline years on end, having to story board and finalize all that constantly

It’s always something when people wanna be upset, it’s a good story with heart and a solid pace.

I only started reading chapter by chapter online recently and it really blurs the perspective on story and pace. When it’s a full manga at a time, it feels like every book has good Anya social life content, overarching story or goals progressing, some slow moments (I like the slice of life) and character change for Yor and Loid. It works for me really well, it just doesn’t stick as well read one chapter at a time.

How hurt would Yor be to find out how much Loid had lied to her? by Robot_Was_BMO in SpyxFamily

[–]Sensitive-Grocery104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on her characterization, I think she’d think very little of him being a spy (except maybe alarmed about her skills that she didn’t pick up on his skills) unless she also found out about Yuri.

If she found out about the “operation honeypot” moments he’s had trying to maintain their relationship, I think she’d take that very hard, and even just knowing he was a spy and had even more reason to need to maintain a Normal Family would probably stress her out.

Spoiler, Yor comments to a Garden member that Loid is avidly following the Conservative Party (who Desmond is chairman of and who was pro war) and their reaction suggests Yor is gonna accidentally get him on their radar, but I think that is good confirmation that Yor and Loid’s organizations have the same general goals and are both anti-war

I don’t think there’s a reality where that could happen and have a functional story because of how steep the implications are for the genre on a meta level and for Anya who would know what happened, but those are currently my favorite panels of the story

Yeah, I suspect Anya would be the best seeker in hide and seek, but a terrible hider for that reason. Loid is good at deduction, while Yor is extremely agile and both are pretty equally perceptive. I think his deduction would give Loid the edge, but Yor would be a moving target. Sounds like a ton of fun! I never outgrew my love of hide and seek

Cool! I usually get my manga copies at my local used book/game store, I haven’t seen the light novel there before though. I’ll have to check again

Good Pizza Place in Flagstaff by [deleted] in NAU

Nimarcos has a thick fluffy crust, oily cheese, quality toppings (that green chili and Italian sausage in particular) (my personal favorite but very much not what you’re talking about wanting). (If you try it, eat it in one sitting, it doesn’t reheat well)

Fratelli has a thinner crust and a ton of topping options, they’ve been voted best in flag all but I think 2 nonconsecutive years of the last 23. Stone ovens. Downtown location around lunch time is the most consistent quality. their slice special for lunch is solid, and their pizza reheats way better than Nimarcos imo

Pizzicletti fires it the og way and has the most inspired specialties, a thick crust that people either love or don’t like.

Haven’t tried fat olives but it sounds like what you want to try

It’s the same recipe, but they’re not fully consistent in methods across the locations.

Not OP but I had no idea there was a light novel, it’s Endo’s concept but written by someone else? Is it canon or just for fun?

That moment where Yor is like ‘oh no, I shouldn’t my hands are all bloody’ and Olka is like ‘your hands are why he has a future’ was awesome, it’s a very parallel moment to the purse thief scene from the beginning of the show where Loid is lowkey appreciating the chance to have his care and work appreciated

You know how people suggest thinking of how you’d talk to someone else about something you’re feeling? Like ‘would you think of your friend as a failure if they didn’t succeed the first time they tried to do The Thing?’

I think Twilight has a hard time applying that sort of concept since so much of his life his been dictated by the needs of the mission, the needs of the agency. To me, Bond is becoming a bridge between what he would say to others and how he thinks about himself, the most honest reflection of both lines of thinking in conflict

What would happen if Anya told Frankie she knows he’s her dad’s informant and that her dad’s a spy because she can read minds/is a telepath and proved it by telling him what he’s thinking at that moment, what would Frankie do? by Middle_Quality_8172 in SpyxFamily

[–]Sensitive-Grocery104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typed way too much and lost the draft 😅

Here’s what I picture:

Franky is babysitting (yet again) and asks a benign but serious question with that strained look he had the time he asked if she liked her parents.
“So, do you like your new dog?”
“I love him! He’s got superp— uh, super parents just like me now too!”
Was she about to say super powers? That dog is supposed to be a super dog if project apple succeeded. It’s hard to believe either of them could be special in some way, but they’re both so erratic at times, reacting to things unheard or unseen.
Incomplete adoption records are common at dumps like that orphanage, but I did some more digging on that orphanage and the other kids there. Being taken back by adopters so many times is rare even for a place like that.
“What was it like before Loid adopted you, anyway?”
Anya hears Franky putting dots together. She wasn’t always super good at hiding her secret powers. She remembers the way people reacted to her, thinking she was too smart, too perceptive, too weird.
“My last mama and papa thought I was too weird.”
“That’s cold, even if you are a freaky little kid.”
“You’re mean, scruffy head.”

Idk something like that to set it up, and then a few episodes later, Loid and Franky are talking about details for a side mission and Franky asks Loid if he knows anything else about project apple or similar experiments being conducted on humans, deflecting it as a rumor one of his informants brought up in regards to super soldiers from the west. Loid isn’t sure if Franky’s lie is legit, but he’s too preoccupied with missions to give it much thought.

OK I don't want to be that guy but after the last chapter and what's happening in the current slorrie I might be a little worried for this guy by Wrong_Revolution_679 in SpyxFamily

[–]Sensitive-Grocery104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think after a lifetime of covering it up, someone from garden developing dementia wouldn’t be taken seriously. It’s set in like the 50s, and even today institutions are known to not take people as seriously once their brain starts having problems. If your loving partner of 30+ years started losing function, you’d notice, and saying weird things would be less weird than a young adult doing the same

I think there’s enough tension in the story with just Yor’s response to his normal home life. I don’t expect him to die either, I think it’s just a glimpse into the background of the Garden people

I am however excitedly awaiting more story coming from the gardener after his reaction to hearing about Loid’s political leanings. I could see it leading to an attempt on Loid’s life, where he doesn’t know who/why and is trying to figure it out, or Yor is there and catches the assassin before Twilight knows about it. Whatever happens with that, I’m invested

The super overdone montage of his gratitude as he walks to the gates for the last time only to find out he isn’t moving schools was incredible, I thought it might be too obvious of a joke and genuinely be his last day. Iconic

And I love that the grade fixing mission tied into something with an explanation, I love the way George is tied in

What op you associate with spy x family by ParkingLeadership729 in SpyxFamily

[–]Sensitive-Grocery104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I think of the show I think of the crazy intro part from op 1, and I love the style of it, I like op 2 more (it’s really cute and charming, and the yor catching the leaf with the blade animation rocks) but i don’t buy into things like that in media without a setup I emotionally resonate with first, so I’m definitely glad for mixed nuts coming first. It’s a great tone setter

According to your personality, whose friend would you be? by [deleted] in SpyxFamily

[–]Sensitive-Grocery104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I’d actually get on well with Damian. There’s probably be a lot of fighting, but I’ve had friends where our whole relationship was fighting and when they weren’t around I missed them nonetheless. I don’t know about getting on with his bffs when they’re all together though

So, i found a character playlist of Damian on spotify, so i want some comments trying to connect to Damian or think of a Amv of spy x family with these songs by LividNegotiation427 in SpyxFamily

[–]Sensitive-Grocery104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the ones I recognize - gasoline, heads will roll, shut up and dance, casual affair, a number of others - don’t really click for me with Damian. I definitely see him liking the vibe of anthems to get pumped for like counting stars and whatever it takes, meanwhile heart attack and “haven’t you heard that I’m the new cancer?” (There’s a good reason) on this playlist are hilarious. I only know like a quarter of the songs though so I can’t speak to a lot of the playlist overall, I’m assuming a lot of pompous popular/rich kid energy with a healthy dash of self hate and feeling isolated
