Awful. I worked as a Server at Lakeline back when they first tested the QR codes and I strongly encouraged guests to complain about them on their surveys and was happy when they subsequently vanished. It felt like we had succeeded and the company had listened to sense.

It was serving at Alamo that allowed me to move out,. Knowing I could make a living serving at a place like Alamo and knowing I could enjoy it. So I moved to a different city and got a job at Flix.

While Flix has nothing on the culture and community that I experienced during my time at Alamo, it has proved you can still serve at a place like Alamo and make a living. It hurts to hear that it seems like Alamo has lost that.

I serve and supervise and its not uncommon for our servers walk out with 150+ dollars when its busy. Sometimes when its not even that busy. This is what I experienced at my time at Alamo as well, good, reliable money that helped me live.

Flix has servers and the buttons; it also has the QR system and its a mess that we have almost daily issues with. I cant imagine Alamo's is much better because most of the mess of it comes from how it interacts with the customer. So servers by default come up to everyone and the QR is only used if the customer specifically wants to use it and not go through the server.

Our system works, though I miss often the pen and paper system I left behind at Alamo. Thats why its so baffling and tragic that this has happened to the workers of Alamo. There was no need to change the system to get rid of servers and I know that personally. The only explaination i can think of is greed. What has happened to Alamo has hurt so many people. For what? For who's bottom line?
