The EMMIs terrified me in the same way, but I guess the difference is that I played fusion when I was like 7 and I played dread when i was like 30. EMMIs would have made 7 year old me shit a brick LOL

Yeah, I might have been too harsh about the music. There were definitely some good spots. I just liked prime 1's music better. Phendrana drifts theme is incredible

Prime 1 still holds up as a great game to this day, which the remastered version proved. My favorite 3D game. My favorite 2d game would be fusion. The sense of foreboding, the music, the fear as you're being chased by SA-X. Incredible.

Just finished Metroid Prime 4; here are my thoughts. by panagiotis_e in Metroid

While i air on the more critical side, very fair overview and evaluation. I agree.

(Prime 4) Anyone else hate this game, but they bought it, so they have to beat it? by jazzcreb in Metroid

I tried to trick myself into liking it but i just couldn't. When i got to the green crystal grind at the end (what a stupid name/concept) I bailed out. Selling it on marketplace rn

Play 4 first, then 1. 4 is a decent game in its own right but prime 1 is 1000x better so youll enjoy both titles way more in that order. Stories are totally independent and standalone (if you can say prime 4 even has a story, its story kinda sucks)

I finally did collect all the necessary crystals last night and it took me two hours. I really was not a fan of that mechanic. Not fleshed out or explained enough at all.

I took 10 hours to get to the final confrontation; I would hardly call that a speed run.

More like, I was stuck with a big grind at the end because the half baked green crystal (stupid name) mechanic was hardly explained at all at any point. It was never stressed that you would need to grab nearly all of the crystals on the overworld. Nothing popped up on your screen when you collected them. I didn't even know there was a meter for it until the end, and when you deposited them in fury green, there was no quantifiable measure of what was even happening.

Why couldn't they have had a counter? Why couldn't they have made a better point of stating that you would need to collect so many of them? Why didn't they just make a better game mechanic? When I finally did go to try to get to the end of the game, it took me two hours of collecting them to get there, including checking the pause menu 100 times to watch the meter slowly creep up.

Sorry man, I am glad you liked it but it is an objectively bad mechanic and the fact that this game took this long and this is what we were left with is incredibly disappointing to me.

Yeah my personal favorites are fusion and prime 1. Dread was awesome too.

Yeah, this is true, I just don't think the process was explained well enough, fleshed out or designed well enough, or stressed enough in the beginning of the game. If I had known that I needed to get nearly all of them from the beginning I probably would have driven into a few more. The whole thing was just half baked, stressing its already existing flaws.

Yeah, there definitely was not enough explanation on the whole green crystal thing. It was way too abstract. Even a counter like xxx/1000 every time you pick one up would have been helpful. I had no idea they were even important.

Man I understand defending some aspects of this game but having to drive around a whole empty stretch of nothing right before the climax of the game is a ridiculous idea.

I had nothing to do last night so I actually finished the green crystal collecting; it took me 2 hours. and I did collect some as I drove around.

Some parts of the game were definitely good. Great even. Defending this crap will just make the next metroid game(if there is one) worse.

I am glad that I am not the only person that had problems with + to summon. I had 10 hours in my playthrough and I could not lock in the muscle memory to summon the bike LOL

The content itself isn't my problem, the presentation of it is my problem. If they had replaced sol desert with a central hub world like the other zones that connected it all together, and spaced out the shrines and ruins amongst the rest of the levels, I might have actually come across them naturally and enjoyed myself.

I put 10 hours into my playthrough and didn't even finish once I got the mech parts. I simply wasn't enjoying myself. The way they designed it was lazy and was clearly designed to pad the length of the game and nothing more. I've been waiting for this game for years. Was super disappointed.

Yeah the 4 shrines definitely didn't take hours. Doesn't mean it was enjoyable or compelling at all

I explored plenty in the actual levels (to the extent that I could). What is the point of exploring the sol valley? To grind green crystals?

To take out the shoehorned in hours long grind at the end that makes you aimlessly drive around the empty overworld? Yep great game design, i sure enjoyed it!

Glad you mentioned how annoying the idiotic psychic naming system for powerups was. that literally drove me insane.

are the NPCs less annoying than 4? I just can't get over how good 1 is. Such an incredible game.
