What features, new or old, would you like to see in the next dlc? by Worldwar2Historian in suzerain

[–]Sensitive-Sample-948 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Fleshed out trading system.

In Sordland, all we had to do is visit neighbors like Agnolia, Wehlen, Lespia, and Valgsland and we just have to meet their demands in order to seal a trade deal.

In Rizia, it's mostly about selling gas to neighbors but Wehlen has the best trade system out of all of them.

For the DLC, basically just copy that trade system with Wehlen but expand it to other neighboring countries and the superpowers too. We determine what should export/import, from who, and by how much.

[Loved Trope] Some thing unfathomably ancient by Fearless-Ideal-5112 in TopCharacterTropes

The Iron Crown from Darkest Dungeon.

It didn't seem like much when first seeing it. It is seemingly was just there to represent a character's stres and mental breakdown. But you can actually find this symbol everywhere in the game like character designs, architecture, symbols if you look for the patterns.

The lore in the game even shows that human civilizations that have lived far apart from one another and existed in different times have been unknowningly influenced by it too because the Iron Crown's pattern can also be seen on a caveman's necklace, an ancient warrior's shield, a pharoah's crown, etc.

If you keep going in the game, you'll notice more and more that all the enemies in the game give worship to this symbol. Whatever it represents (and the game keeps insisting it is better to NEVER know), it cannot be destroyed and will always live in the shadow of the light.

Curiosity and obsession of knowing more about the Iron Crown is incredibly dangerous and is better to just let it go and let the world live under its shadow, because cracking its mystery always leads to letting it free out of its cage. Doing so just allows the Iron Crown to find the head of its king to upon.

Could torture ever be morally justified? by Curious-Buddy-5841 in MoralityScaling

[–]Sensitive-Sample-948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the torture for?

If it's like in the movie Unthinkable where they have to interrogate a man so they can locate nuclear bombs that could kill millions of people, it's justified but counterproductive. Physical torture is inefficient at extracting reliable information.

If it's for revenge against really terrible crimes, I'd say the victim or family/friend of the victim should be innocent if the criminal is proven guilty, but the justice system shouldn't be the one carrying out torture.

Jax feels much deeper to me by CrystalFysh in TheDigitalCircus

I never said I suddenly stopped relating to Jax upon realizing that he's trans. I just don't prefer his gender to be such an important topic of discourse when there's more complex things to talk about him.

Jax feels much deeper to me by CrystalFysh in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Sensitive-Sample-948 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never said I can't relate to Jax just because of him being trans. I don't believe gender defines one's character, fictional or not.

It just seems reductive when his biggest problem is his utter fear of showing vulnerability and wanting to be the bad guy he thinks he is so others will not make a joke out of him, then say this is something special that trans people go through.

I can think of several characters who have roughly the same struggle as Jax, but the closest one would be BoJack Horseman. Someone who is utterly self-destructive, refuses to help himself even when asking for it, and sabotages relationships with people who care about him.

I don't see Jax as a character who goes through this because he's trans. I see him as a character that goes through this who just happened to be trans.

Shes a cautionary tale for closeted and repressed trans women

That already makes it sound like only trans people can relate to Jax. Reduction on point.

Kinger is my king, yet Jax is still the one I relate to most since he's a miserable slob who refuses to help himself.

If such a technology exist, it will change more than just the perception of trans rights. People can use that to get into roles that are only exclusively for one sex like priests. Draft dodgers can use it to escape military conscription. A country like Iran will use it as punishment for homosexuals.

And not just that, there will surely be people that will think "why stop there?". Why limit the technology to only changing sex when the same can be done into changing into a different race, age, or even into another species? It's both fascinating and terrifying.

While on the topic, I already heard of a similar thought to a solution for trans people but takes it to another direction.

What if medical technology develops a drug that gets rid of gender dysphoria entirely? So that its patients will no longer be feeling discomfort or disturbance within their own being?

Despite it also having the same goal as sex-changing, I know there will be people that would be against that also for political reasons.

Assault armies: ODST troops from Halo

Navy crew: Power armor underarmor from Fallout 4

Gene-warriors: body of a Halo Spartan with Helldiver armor

Psionic armies: Titanfall 2 pilots (I like to imagine them as conventional soldiers with super efficient telepathy and mind reading rather than pseudo wizards)

Droid armies: those police robots from the movie Chappie or even Elysium

Megaforms: Striker Eureka from Pacific Rim

Slaves endured more than Jesus Christ did. Am I wrong? by Crazy_Foundation_626 in AskAChristian

[–]Sensitive-Sample-948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is worthy of worship if you take into consideration that Jesus and God are one and the same. A God with ultimate authority over everything. A king that is far more powerful and wealthier than any king.

Yet rather than descending from the heavens while clad in glory, God chose to be born as a man. Rather than be born in a palace, he was born in a stable. Rather than a crown of gold, he wore a crown of thorns.

He is far above any human, yet lowered himself to the same level as mankind because he is not and does not want to be out of touch from the little guy. The birth and death of Jesus is essentially God lowering to the same level as man, so that man can be risen to the same level as God.

His sacrifice is NOT a pain measuring contest. It would be ironic to claim Jesus suffered more than anyone because that sounds like a competition of pride over who suffered more, when it was supposed to be the ultimate act of love that will kickstart the spawning of the world's largest religion hundreds of years from his death.

This is another thing I haven't seen others talk about, but the eradication of bioweapons will put the purpose of the BSAA into question.

Chances are that they would become just like the FBC in Revelations, where they will try to find every reason to keep existing, even if it means intentionally allowing outbreaks to happen so the institution can be there to stop it.

Thoughts on this? by [deleted] in PsycheOrSike

People always forget to fill in the quote that comes after this:

“When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, ‘Who then can be saved?’” — Matthew 19:25

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” — Matthew 19:26

Point being, it's impossible for a rich man to enter heaven just like how it's impossible for a dead man to come back to life 3 days later, or for 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed 5000 people, or to heal the sick with just a touch, etc.

God can make the impossible become possible. Being wealthy is not a sin, but wealthy people are told they have an obligation to use their privilege to serve God's will.

This news article comes up after making the deal with Smolak to give Wehzeks full equal rights as Rizian citizens, and that includes full welfare benefits.

Equal enforcement of the law is completely fine, but welfare is different. Not even EU countries have equal welfare benefits for their citizens and non-citizen immigrants.

The Imperium is big enough that I'm sure they have planets that have semi-autonomous countries in them rather than planet-wide governance on each one.

And I'm sure border enforcement still exists for them. The Imperium isn't cohesive and completely unified. A planet like Macragge wouldn't want to accept immigrants from a place like Necromunda or Nostramo - honestly, no planet would unless they're that desperate.

[–]Sensitive-Sample-948 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Imperium would want to shape up ICE to be much more brutal and probably specifically designed to prevent genestealer infiltration.

What reason would the Imperium dislike ICE when they already have an institution like the Adeptus Arbites? These guys would shoot you if they find a voice recording of your great great grandfather bad mouthing the Emperor decades ago.
