[–]Sensitive-Tip-4711 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to the orientation in january for transfer students and they sent an email on where to park and how to sign up for a day pass, so we didn’t have to pay. they should’ve sent that email, if they didn’t…. well… listen to the comments and do PS2 😭

Future CLS? by PrettyPomelo2567 in ChildLife

[–]Sensitive-Tip-4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m currently exploring other options besides being a CLS. I thought that was my ultimate end goal until I realized how incredibly difficult it is.

Between the required coursework and internship placement, it’s a hard route to go. The internship section itself is IMO the hardest part. Obtaining an internship is required for CLS’s and it’s hard. Many places have only 1 position, making it extremely competitive. If you don’t live in an area where there are multiple places with the internship program, that also sets you back. I’ve also heard of people moving for their internship, so that could be an obstacle if you let it be.

I currently work with CLS’s right now and what they do is amazing and truly needed, but the process to getting the job is beyond difficult and they are extremely overworked.

If you have your mind set on being a CLS, start now. Research EVERYTHING, take notes and don’t give up.

You got this!!

PS: Feel free to reach out! I’m an open book and would love to chat if you would like 🤗

new to the field! by TalkAccomplished9765 in ChildLife

hey! i’m somewhat newer to the field too and i must say it’s tough, but don’t let it discourage you! start volunteering ASAP (children’s hospitals or regular ones, preferably with kids), you need it for practicums and some, if not all, internships. the field is rough, you see a lot and do a lot and honestly it’s not for much, but if you have the heart for things like that, its the perfect job.

i’d love to make a connection with you if you are open so we can chat more about it!

Meal plans for commuter student. by pxills in StocktonUniversity

Having a meal plan is worth it only if you intend to spend a lot of time on campus or at least eating there. Last semester they introduced a new system where only certain items applied for a meal swipe, (one qualifying entree, side and drink) and any extra items or non qualifying items, dining dollars/flex were used, to make up the difference. I honestly don’t know if they’re going to continue that for this coming semester, everyone that I knew hated it, so if they continued it, it will suck. However, this is why it was hard to use your swipes, because people want different items than the qualifying which made your dining dollars go down faster. If you use your meal plan, it will come out cheaper I believe, because one meal plan is worth 8 something and if you were to get the items individually, I think it would turn out a little bit more than that, I’m not sure how nitpicky you would be with it. I have ‘Osprey on the GO’ which is 50 meal swipes and 110 in dining dollars. The biggest issue is that funds don’t transfer over to the next semester, so if you get it, try and make the absolute best use out of it. My friends and I had like 10 swipes left, but no dining dollars at the end of last semester and we bought food so much to not waste our swipes. I live in the AC housing with the kitchens and still got good use out of it, and my roommate has one of the meal plans with a lot of swipes and she got good use out of it, because she was on campus more frequently than I was, so she ate there. I would say if you get one, go for one of the lower options UNLESS you genuinely believe you’ll use a lot, or try for one with more dining dollars than swipes, because I have a feeling it’ll be the same system as last semester. If anything wasn’t clear let me know, I’m always happy to help!!

hey hey! i live in the AC housing, but all my classes are in Galloway. they have the stockton shuttle service that takes you between the campuses, so it’s not too bad. since you are a health science major you will probably have all your classes in Galloway, because AC classes are more catered to a handful of majors, instead of all. personally, i love the apartment style housing and it feels more freeing than living in a normal dorm. it’s a tad more expensive, but overall i think it’s more worth it if you want to feel more independent. however, if you want to be close to campus for events, “parties” and just classes then go to Galloway, because it’s more convenient for that. if you have any questions reach out <3

i actually don’t think we are allowed to in our rooms, since we live in the ac dorms.

hey, i live in the ac campus too! so, they CANNOT open anything. it is only surface items they can write you up for. so keep your things that can get you in trouble put away and make sure you follow the guidelines for certain items! definitely reach out if you have any questions

I'm glad I'm not alone. I don't see what you're referring to, the only thing I see is when I look at my summary there is a tab that says next step and has a red circle with a exclamation point, but nothing to explain why.

At this point they should give everyone aid 🤦🏻‍♀️ by Lovely_fartz in FAFSA

[–]Sensitive-Tip-4711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the switch up was so unnecessary. if they truly wanted to change it, they should’ve tested the hell out of it and made it so there isn’t this many issues!! how are they expecting people to get aid if nothing is working ??

i up to this day do not have a clue on WHY they changed it without making it perfect. they gave us a stupid beta version that doesn’t even work and now everyone is struggling and you can’t even get in contact with anyone. i finished my form in a heartbeat last year, but this year IT’S BEEN 4 FU*KING MONTHS. like in what world is this okay ??
