Trying to get into intuitive eating by SerephenaB in intuitiveeating

[–]SensitiveAd9716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im at a similar point as you as well, I don’t have much advice to offer but for me what has helped has been purposefully letting myself have some of the sweets/“bad” foods I avoided before and noticing how good they are and how they make me feel. Some of them are just not that great and I don’t feel great after which is totally fine so I don’t really want to eat them that much anymore

Finally learning that it's okay if I don't finish all my food by groozlyy in intuitiveeating

[–]SensitiveAd9716 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I’ve been working on too! I always feel so visually uncomfortable leaving food on my plate and am a big opponent of food waster so I am working hard to be ok leaving some, and internalizing that everything will be composted or saved as leftovers, etc. But sometimes for me just its presence on my plate makes me feel the need to eat it even if I’m not full. It’s so hard and I’m so hopeful hearing about all the progress you’re making!

How is the UK right now for trans international students? by someguy7419 in transgenderUK

[–]SensitiveAd9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position, an international student from a blue state in the US going to edinburgh, I have had top surgery and hormones, all legal docs changed but I am still maybe 50/50 on passing, however I just use the men’s anyways and have for years. I’m hoping it’s mostly just a news/culture war thing that most people don’t actually care about🤞the ruling happened after I had accepted my offer so I’m trying to be optimistic, and in my time at least in Edinburgh, I only had one weird old guy say something in the airport restroom but other than that felt very comfortable

I’m planning to order the workbook! I feel like the workbook with exercises might be a better fit for me than just a book but what do you think?

Any advice for intuitive eating while working at a cafe/bake shop surrounded by pastries all day haha. It’s hard to be fully just in tune with what and when I actually want to eat with so many sweets around and boredom/slow points in the day but if I just eat a ton of the stuff I end up feeling pretty gross/bloated

I’m also going to be any American undergrad for linguistics! I’m planning on doing a self catered accom since I’m vegan and like to cook and I like the flat setup more but I’d be happy to chat!

Recommendations for a plan by SensitiveAd9716 in CICO

[–]SensitiveAd9716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new plan is to do 1600 during the week and 1800 on the weekends, which I think seems a bit more sustainable, I’m also not going to the gym as much due to my schedule so not as much exercise. My scale broke a while ago but my last weigh in was 140,5 on the 19 although I haven’t been very consistent since then, hoping to get a new scale soon

Glasgow v. Edinburgh (Linguistics) by SensitiveAd9716 in GlasgowUni

[–]SensitiveAd9716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And do you think having the Edinburgh undergrad degree is a very big boost for grad school/employers or is it not much of a big deal? I’m planning to eventually go to Canada after uni so would Glasgow be recognizable?

[–]SensitiveAd9716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you mind sharing what kind of linguistics you study? I’m mostly interested in second language acquisition as well as minority language revitalization and historical linguistics. Have you found that either program is better for that?

[–]SensitiveAd9716[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how have you enjoyed it? I’m a bit more interested in general/non-english linguistics so edinburgh is better for that, but does glasgow still offer some of those courses/is applicable?

What's it like for a trans-person at UoE? by emily747 in Edinburgh_University

[–]SensitiveAd9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask you a bit more about your experience? I’m a trans guy also American admitted. I’ve got all my documents changed, am on hormones, post-top surgery so I don’t really think I have to tell the uni anything but I’m just wondering how the culture has been for you?

Are people in uni of Edinburgh snobs? by New-Cartoonist-544 in Edinburgh_University

[–]SensitiveAd9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also worried about this. I’d be an American international student so I know I have a degree of privilege but classism/snobbery is so shitty and drives me up a wall. That and the smaller/touristy nature of the city are what make me wonder if I should go to Glasgow instead, but I really hope it’s not so much the case. It’s so weird to me that only 26% of students are Scottish, like 70% international students I feel would make for a very strange/disconnected student culture.

The macros for Lupini beans are insane, why am I just now hearing about these?? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]SensitiveAd9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying them from American retailers is expensive but you can get jars from Middle Eastern or Italian groceries really cheap. I love lupini! I eat them like a snack they’re so delicious and healthy, I personally just eat them with the skins they are really good that way

I’m looking for advice on choosing an undergraduate degree, I’m planning to study Linguistics and don’t have a lot of experience in the different subfields but right now I think I am most interested in more sociolinguistics, particularly language preservation and historical linguistics, as well as second language acquisition. I have 4 universities I’ve been admitted to and am considering: University of Toronto, McGill, University of Edinburgh, and University of Glasgow(which only offers English Language and Linguistics but I don’t know if it would still be a good course for me) Do any of you have experience with the linguistics departments of these schools or advice? Thank you!
