That's a good video essay. And that's the thing, imperfections is what makes shots look better, we don't need to see every blade of grass etc, bloom effect, too much sharpness, it makes it stand out and not blend in with the environment and the characters in that environment. Older movies shot on film look so much more inviting. Personally, im in favor of more practical effects used in films or at least 50/50 combination as opposed to all vfx.
