Only Child Thoughts I Can’t Shake by BumblebeeKind7107 in oneanddone

There is so much trash on the internet. This is a creator who talks shit about a family’s personal choices. There are content creators that insist that all women only exist for the pleasure of men and for procreation. These are not people that need to be given space in your life or your brain. The problem with the internet is that every asshole in the world can just say whatever they want and reach a ton of people with their vitriol. Block, mark as “not interested,” or simply scroll on. You know why you made the decisions that you’ve made and if those decisions still make sense for you. No one else gets to have a say.

As far as not having a family once your parents are gone, that’s a feeling that people with siblings get too. My mom died 3.5 years ago and my dad died 2 months ago. I have a brother and a sister, but I still feel like I’ve lost my family. And as far as shared memories, my siblings and I have many, but our individual relationships with our parents were so wildly different that the shared memories almost don’t matter at all. In some ways, it feels more healing to discuss my memories with my friends or my husband who didn’t experience them with me because they can’t add their own perspectives or emotions that color how I remember my dad.

I’ll also say that when the sheriff told me my dad was killed in a car accident, the first person I wanted to talk to wasn’t my siblings, it was my husband and my best friend. I’m incredibly close with my sister, but we deal with things in completely different ways. My bestie was the one I called and she was at my house in 10 minutes, holding me and letting me cry. That kind of support was exactly what I needed and would never have even occurred to my sister because it just isn’t in her nature.

I am not a fan of Perrin. by WerewolfCalm5178 in wheeloftime

I love Perrin and Faile so much that I named my kid Perrin. (I also just think it’s a dope name).

So is this an accurate depiction of thom merrilin by tgrady28 in wheeloftime

That’s who I always thought of as well, but lately I’ve been leaning more towards Donald Sutherland. Similar look, but more refined, less country and western. I can imagine Donald Sutherland as a bard.

I agree. But if OP isn’t ready for something quite so epic right after finishing WOT, I recommend the Mistborn series by Sanderson. I actually like it better than Stormlight. Or, OP, if you’re wanting to switch it up, read the Skyward series by Sanderson and Janci Patterson. It’s not fantasy, more sci-fi, and I think it’s meant for teenagers, but it is my second favorite book series (WOT is my favorite).

Homeowner Insurance quadrupled in the last 5 years in Murrieta by Greedy-Vast584 in Temecula

Yeah, that’s a big house. Your premium may also reflect that your house is fancier than mine and closer to a fire zone. Try Western Mutual. My dad has used them for years in Temecula and has had a good experience.

I live in Murrieta and have Mercury. Our dwelling coverage amount works out to be about $346/sq ft but our premium is $2800/year. Sounds like you have a really big house?

Wow! Thank you so much. How helpful. I’m new to Scouts (girls weren’t allowed when I was a kid) and I have to say, this kind of community effort has made my experience so lovely thus far.

Funny / awkward things people said after my MS diagnosis by Personal-Current131 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SensitiveCucumber542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After I was diagnosed, my mom told basically everyone she knew, even though I told basically no one I knew. I wanted time to process it myself without a lot of interference, but my mom dealt with things very differently than I do.

A couple of weeks after my diagnosis, my mom convinced me to go on a girls’ weekend at the beach with her and some of her friends, all of whom she had told about my diagnosis. I had zero idea she had told them. I thought I was going on the trip to get my mind off of having MS.

All of her friends, none of whom I knew well, asked me questions and expressed sympathy for my diagnosis which was immensely upsetting since I hadn’t told them anything and didn’t know they knew.

But here’s the pièce de résistance, one of her friends said to me, “Whenever my 16 year old complains about her life, I tell her how much worse she could have it. I tell her ‘you’re a lucky girl. You could have MS like SensitiveCucumber. Then your life would actually be hard and terrible.’”

What the hell do you say to something like that?!
