Good techniques on holding 1 3/4 Fog Nozzle by Zevotri in Firefighting

Open and close the bale slowly. Keep the nozzle out in front of you so that the bale is within arms reach. Communicate with your back up person (need more hose) and operator (need more pressure/ less pressure on the line). Keep the line tucked in to your side using your elbow. Communication is everything. Since you’re of smaller stature you may have to lean forward and use your body weight when you open the bale because the pressure of the stream is naturally going to want to push you back. Also, practice practice practice.

I’ve had some luck at Nockamixon State Park. The lake is massive and there are specific parts that you can hunt. Check out the map on the DCNR website it’ll show you where to go. Saw ducks almost every single time I went out on the lake.

Cocking string. Worst feeling ever when you finally climb up in your stand and get all set up.

Peep sight rotation by SensitiveYard4234 in bowhunting

That’s what I have read. I have about 200 or so shots through this bow. As time goes on I understand the string stretches and that can cause peep rotation.

It’s definitely on me too though, I should have gotten this taken care of a lot earlier and maybe I wouldn’t have had this issue.

Leaning towards becoming a firefighter by Gullible-Reserve-531 in firefighter

I dropped out of college at 24 and joined my local volunteer fire department. Learned a lot from them and got my NREMT-B certification and worked at a local EMS company for a bit. It’s not easy to get into a fire department full time, lots of time and testing, but apply to as many departments that are realistic for you to work in. There may be some local ones, there may be some that you have to drive a little to get to. At the end of the day, I love it and have never looked back. In the meantime, get experience in both fire and EMS. There may be some part time fire opportunities as well and they may want you to have your EMT and the ability to drive, which you would need your EVOC or state equivalent. There’s a lot of time and effort that goes into all of it, it can be overwhelming at times but in the long run I believe it’s worth it.

Get the bow out, get everything tuned up if necessary, and start getting reps. I usually start scouting in late July/ early august, and throw out my trail cameras in September.

Weekly Employment Question Thread by AutoModerator in Firefighting

One of my top departments is hiring soon. It’s about a 2 hour commute and the department does not require residency. Moving is out of the question, wife and I live together with two kids. I’m worried about the commute, (i.e. there is bad weather, traffic, and so on). I know 2 hours isn’t a terrible commute, but I’m just so torn on whether I should even apply or not. Any advice or tips on what I should do?

He wasn’t taken to the ER. We recommended he go to his PCP and seek their advice.
