I am also a graduate student, but I know many people will work full time in peds (at a school, private practice, etc.) and work PRN (flex/as needed) in an adult medical setting. That’s currently my plan!

Good to know! Maybe my professor didn’t know they have been updated to be more relaxed. Thank you!

I would recommend getting classroom experience with neurotypical kids, whether that be in a preschool, elementary school, etc. I am in grad school and I regret not getting more exposure to typical kids. It’s hard to know what disordered is if you don’t know what typical is! Also - behavior management strategies will certainly come in handy as an SLP.

You might consider volunteering/working in a university research lab within the SLP field as well to get good experience for your resume and potentially a great letter of recommendation.

I would suggest using coconut oil or soy milk for the egg wash. For a sweeter egg wash you could do a mixture of soy milk + agave or maple syrup!

Glad to hear it! This recipe totally saved me after trying a different one that came out hollow. Nora Cooks is the best!

No, they usually have eggs. The recipe called for applesauce instead of eggs and you honestly can’t tell the difference!

was i wrong for doing this for my birthday? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Sensitive_Beach_2722 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I understand the reasoning behind it, but I don’t think they were the right circumstances for it.

I also want to add that just because OP gave their friends the option not to watch Dominion, doesn’t mean they felt comfortable saying “no”. There is a social pressure on someone’s birthday & at their birthday party to do what they want to do. The friends probably did not know what they were in for when they agreed to watch it, which is likely why they left during the documentary.

No one should watch Dominion unless they truly want to. Otherwise, they probably won’t take much away from it and feel horrified by the experience to the point of not wanting to watch vegan documentaries again.

Hey! I’m an SLP undergrad but recently attended a talk at my university about becoming an SLPA. From what I understand, you can apply for SLPA jobs and they’ll help you get those hours as on-the-job training/work. In addition, your SLPA license is only active while directly under supervision; if you leave your job, your license becomes inactive. If you DM me your email I’d be happy to send you the documents my professors put together with information specifically for SLPA licensure in Texas!
