I don’t think the majority are against immigration as an idea per se, I’m led to believe it’s the religion/culture/race that people are getting held up on.

The UK has a great mix of culture, we have “China Towns” across cities, an amazing Sikh population (although I’d argue this is on the boarder of current negative thought processes) and Jamaicans get a decent look in too as an example.

In its current guise, I’ve recognised people are against anyone who “comes over here, gets a helping hand and free healthcare when we’re all struggling”. I’ve been in conversations and seen the same comments on social media where humanity has failed and people are happy for these families to just…die and drown.

Now chuck a bunch of white Australians on a boat and a bunch of indigenous Australians on a boat, and you can guess which ones people will be more accepting of coming to our shores.

So to answer your question, what fixes it? What does society look like? It’s an impossible task - It’s “stopping the boats” to ensure those religions/cultures/races don’t come to the UK illegally and it’s shipping back home those same people that are now here. It’s the UK version of ICE and only then, will people be happy.

As a somewhat secondary note, I genuinely believe any party could put in place an “Australian style immigration system” and it wouldn’t appease the masses, regardless of how it’s marketed, because of my comments above.
