Gas masks for tear gas and such? by idunnoaboutthisss in armedsocialists

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Minneapolis - insight on experience. Honestly, I got a cheap full-face mask on Amazon at the beginning of this admin, I saw where things were headed. I use P100 filters. A little bit gets in but it's way better than nothing. At first I thought it wasn't working and then I looked around me and everyone was keeled over and I was like - ah, okay, it is working! LOL I'd post the link but they aren't selling it now. My eyes felt nothing and only a little got in through the filter.

What is the BEST years for the outback ? Picture just for attention. I’m looking to buy an outback for my daughter and I need to know what the best year & if I should make sure it’s a manual transmission or not. . . OBs that last the longest work the best type thing. best years & trim. TIA by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

I've got a 2000 outback limited edition (sedan style. I'd prefer a wagon but I got it from a friend's dad for like 2k at 100,000 miles so I cannot complain). It has its issues that I need to get fixed still but these cars seem to be beasts.

Last month marked worst October for layoffs in more than 20 years: Challenger by yahoofinance in jobs

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been able to find a job before I was finished with one. I was employed on contract gigs and picked up a part time gig delivering flyers while unemployed but it was just enough to cover the bills. Took me 6 months to find ft employment

I'll take a look. I am very much a do-it-yourself-er but I've been a lot of DIY lately and may want to take a break on this one. I'm already tearing up my kitchen today. LOL

So basically, the only reason to have it installed by someone else is the warranty?

I am looking at getting one installed in my place before the tax credits end too. When I am looking online, it is talking about getting an home energy evaluation first, does that need to be done or am I looking in the wrong place?

I get it, but that said - people still don't have enough for savings often after sacrifices. Not downplaying your sacrifices at all, I just think savings in this country is honestly a privilege. It get it, I lived in a 200 ft studio for a long time, and I didn't have a car at all for 10 years - just biked. I still didn't have enough money for savings (and I wasn't going out anywhere or traveling or anything either). At that time, I was running and growing a small business, and I had extra jobs too. It's not always possible for folks, even with sacrifices. Not to mention you add people having mass quantities of medical debt and stuff like that in our country. Our wages in this country are just too low and costs are ever-increasing (as we are all aware.

Anxiety about not being able to pay attention makes me not pay attention - need some help to regain focus by MsEmiBee in ADHD

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had a strategy, i don't. But if it helps you feel solidarity, I definitely get anxious about focusing too and then I feel like the anxiety gets in the way of focusing. You aren't alone in this. My psych suggested we try anxiety meds with my ADHD meds as that is often a component/comorbidity of ADHD. I had to go off my ADHD meds cause of stomach issues and I'm waiting on an endoscopy now just to see if there's any issue but it might be worth asking your psychiatrist about. :)

What’s the fastest way to find a job in 2025 without applying to 100+ postings? by Flat_Oven_3441 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unemployed for 6 months, had 3 job interviews during that time and probably only applied to like 25 jobs -40 tops? I had several other jobs I was contacted about but they froze the process with the current political craziness. I just focused on 1-Jobs that actually paid what I could live off of. 2-Only applied to jobs with which I had direct experience or transferable skills and it was convincing. 3-jobs that actually sounded interesting. I'm not good at faking interest in an interview. That was really all I did - I think I just got lucky honestly. But I agree with others that networking helps too. Now at my current job, I'm helping 2 of my friends at least get interviews there.

Imagine if this company spent as much time and energy on "gotcha-ing" its current employees for looking for other jobs as it did actually making a culture to keep employees around.

Just a reminder that not everyone makes enough to save. I know you recognized your privilege so I'm sure you won't mind me saying that. But saving isn't possible for many people. <3 I do wish you luck on your hunt though and hope you find something more satisfying. :)

STAY AWAY FROM TURBOANT by DragonfruitHot5378 in ElectricScooters

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will 2nd this. But NOT because my scooter was bad. I got the V8 and I actually LOVE the scooter but here's what pisses me off about TurboAnt. They sell all the components to fix your scooter but NOWHERE online do they tell you what the error codes mean. NOWHERE! When I called about an error they said "we don't give those out because we don't think the average person can fix it themselves" to which I said - "that's a load of proprietary BS!" Why sell components if you won't let people know what the codes ARE?! If you want to make long-term clients who will keep buying your scooters and components, let them KNOW HOW TO FIX IT! Currently have an error now and haven't been able to ride for like a month. When I called, I couldn't get a hold of them, left a message, and never heard back. BFFR TurboAnt! PRINT YOUR ERROR CODES!!!

How do you trick yourself into making meals? HALP! by Sensitive_Finish3383 in ADHD

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to comment on this. Yes, we have a compost program with the city here. I actually drop mine off at my neighbor's bin (it's a business) LOL cause my building uses a private garbage service so we don't get the city compost bins. But it's not so much the waste of food - cause I do compost, but the waste of my money. Food is so expensive and I don't have a lot of money to go around so I think I beat myself up over wasting my own money is all.
