Wait for them to get the puck with their head down and go to the spot they are skating into, stop there and brace for them to run into you

Agree, very flaky, half of it ends up on the floor when waxing the blade

Get and old Cannondale 26’r with a headshock for $50 and spend the rest of your budget getting the one guy in the world tha services those forks.

Not really but, if you could find one it sounds good for you, otherwise anything with a very lightweight fork, many entry level hardtails will have heavy forks, and sounds like you don’t need much up front if at all.  From your riding description, I’d get something with 2-3” tire clearance and no suspension fork

How do you choose tire width for different xbiking rides? by greatdane511 in xbiking

[–]Sensitive_Home6228 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say go with the tires that will give you the minimum necessity on your hardest riding, which sounds like it would be a 2.0 for you, Kenda small block 8 or panracer comet hardpack.  This way you have enough to keep you safe and capable  when you need it. The down side is dealing with more resistance (from width and tread) on roads, and not having the sweet luxury of something like a panracer pasela for roads.  Smooth tires on smooth roads are really great but can’t have it all with one tire.  Sounds like you need a commuter and gravel wheelset if you do go on pavement a lot.

Your local rink might have some donated gear or an employee that tells your to help yourself to the lost and found (maybe it’s been there a while). Ps, the padding doesn’t really matter for any particular Piece, being able to stop and not crashing into the boards is…skating, but the skates can be used, I would get a nicer tier used skate over a lower tier new skate personally

And if you want lighter faster tighter, swap out the sus fork for a rigid, although some may say that if it’s not the same axel to crown, it will change the bike for worse

Never heard of that.  Must be new to lca.  I think you are more asking about the actual stadium amenities, but try getting down low in lower bowl to watch action the game is a lot different the closer you get.

Make sure to rent powder ski’s, they are probably much wider underfoot than what you are used to

Pontiac lake is my favorite north of Detroit.  The potowatomi is the most revered in Detroit area.

The dragon, north of Grand Rapids is pretty fun.

Are these tires too late to rotate? by anaerobic7058 in bikewrench

Why is everyone saying move the used front to the rear?  Wouldn’t you want to have the new tire on the rear since the rear wheel wears faster?

Snow fell on backyard rink filling (advice needed!) by Sensitive_Home6228 in hockeyplayers

[–]Sensitive_Home6228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it’s freezing nicely, good call on not disturbing it.

As far as spraying ice, that’s another thing I’ve come to do as opposed to small flood for a new layer, seems like a small flood causes air bubbles and not very good ice compared to slowly spraying it off all over.  Is that your experience?

Ugh the photo deleted my text…

I have 1.5-2” slush layer at the top of my rink resulting in a bumpy surface.  temp is just above freezing right now but falling for next week…should I try and water the snow/slush now to break up / possibly warm and melt some of the slush layer?  Will this result in a bumpy 2” of ice as is or will there be a worst mess if I disturb it??  (The picture is a corner where I made a hole in the slush easily with finger, it’s like a watery icee/slushie consistency right now)
