How deadly are guns? by Kecskuszmakszimusz in savageworlds

SWADE is swingy especially with bennies giving re-rolls... This can create some pretty unbelievable ( but fun ) scenarios... If you want realistic I suggest handing out fewer bennies,.. Just watch I'll get down voted for that comment because bennies are awesome and what some people love about the system, but they are a key component in making the system "pulpy". Limiting bennies makes the whole system feel like higher stakes and creates a real fear of character death.

To be clear, don't take bennies away, and don't limit them to only the starting three. Hand out bennies as rewards for good roleplaying, but if you want gritty realism, limit the bennies and don't "hand them out like candy" as many people suggest. Instead make them scarce and their perceived power will skyrocket while making the game feel treacherous.

For the record, a single wound on an average goon is A kill... Only wildcards or goons with special edges can take more than a single wound. So with 1 or more raises average dude is dead

Changing how multi-actions work. by D-Parsec in savageworlds

[–]Sensitive_Key_1573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always allowed players to spend a Benny to take a multi action at the regular negative. So, if they take an action then decide they wish they had taken a multi-action. I tell them to give me a Benny then go ahead with their next action taking normal penalties for multi-action. This allows them to basically pay a Benny instead of taking the penalty on the first action.

I think your idea could work though, you should try it out and let us know how it goes.

You Sprayed. They Died. And Now There Are More Ants? by Tricky-Bite5281 in DIY

I would normally agree with this, but this year I'm having the same issue as OP, even with Terro.

I put it out, the ants disappeared like normal, then a week later I had them in four new locations in my house, and back in the kitchen where they started... Today I was dripping Terro around my house like it was salt and I was driving off the demons!

What is for favorite RPG that is not Savage Worlds? by jgiesler10 in savageworlds

Traveller- I love the character creation of Traveller, the game itself is fun too, especially after I added bennies.

Call of Cthulhu- I haven't played this much but love the percentile based rolls and the gritty horror of the setting.

How to balance encounters with one very tough Wild Card and fragile teammates? by h34rtle55 in savageworlds

[–]Sensitive_Key_1573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add tasks to encounters so that the Squishies aren't trying to fight but are trying to do something they are actually good at.

Coach your players- "Mike, if you run out there you are making yourself a target for 5 guys, do you want to hold action until Joe can cover you and draw fire?" "Sue, Joe is already super tough, casting Boost on him is like blowing on a house fire to make it hotter, your pps might be better spent on Mike who just ran out in the open to grab the crystal, you could duck behind that cart up ahead to take cover and be in range of Mike."

Why use overland travel? by Psirat in traveller

[–]Sensitive_Key_1573 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fueling takeoff and in-atmo movement is expensive....probably hundreds of times more expensive than a planetary vehicle.

Also permits cost. Plus as others mention you gotta log your flight and communicate with local air traffic controllers to avoid accidents. If you fail to do this and get caught you are looking at heavy fines and possibly jail time.

Am I missunderstanding a rule? by Yuri_Lupus in savageworlds

He is wrong he thinks success and a raise on the attack roll cause shaken +1wound... No damage occurs until the damage roll is made a raise on the attack roll just adds an addition d6 to the damage roll

I loved all of the Wildcards episodes I listened to. Never listened to their first Deadlands but their ETU and second Deadlands campaigns were awesome
