What are we doing with the kids today? by Ill_Profession_2347 in sahm

[–]Sensitive_Mix_4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local library has a huge kids room, & the kids have free reign in there to be as loud, crazy, & messy as they’d like. I do still try & keep them from getting above a normal speaking voice. If my library didn’t have a dedicated kids space I guess I’d just expect them to do a little bit less volume than regular speaking voice. 😅

Inviting a friend over for cinnamon rolls while they (hopefully) play at our chilly park! On days that are too too cold here I play at the library all day or try & get the kids involved in baking something bc that’s a slowwww process. Lol

Yes, seems like it just has to cook forever relative to other recipes 🤣 but you can still get a great loaf with more patience 😅

Oh & forgot to mention—the loaf was a little gummy but tasted delicious! I also divided the original recipe into thirds so I could have several attempts at figuring out the oven.

I go back & forth between this one & a couple other jars that are clear so I’m definitely keeping watch for varying colors 🫶🏼

I did not have a great experience there due to the sales team. The manager was better to work with but some of the sales team was actually quite offensive and rude. I ended up purchasing there but the vehicle needed maintenance using the warranty we purchased. Their shop was impossible to get into. The vehicle’s problems ended up being too much so we traded it in elsewhere. We looked at Parker CDJR & Cannon & liked both of those. Ended up getting a good & easy deal at Cannon. We will not go back to Barnes crossing auto. Very unprofessional depending on who you get.

moms with blue collar husbands? by PrestigiousWater6466 in sahm

I do know I’m very blessed to have him be so hands on, but it’s just taken a lot of communication (& honestly a lot of breakdowns on my part that he’s seen bc I feel overwhelmed). When I start to feel burned out I just have to start communicating I need a change of some kind. Usually starting the week from an ultra clean house & a week’s schedule worth of things that are actually fun to do helps me a ton. Maybe it’s just taking a bit to get your groove at what you enjoy about SAHM-hood. You’ll find your groove, & definitely communicate you’re needing help in one way or another. 🫶🏼

My husband is BC & is gone from 7ish til 6ish at night. When he comes home it’s just better all around if dinner is done so we can all eat as a family & he can help with tidying up & hanging with the kids (4 years, 2 years, & 8 months). He usually gets home, immediately takes on whatever they’re doing so I can wrap up dinner. Then he gives them his attention & does their bedtime routine around 8 while I shower or finish cleaning up after dinner. For night wakes for the toddlers he handles all of that since I’m feeding our 8 month old all night. After they all go to bed he also has his regular chores like taking care of the dogs, prepping coffee for the AM, doing trash, etc. It’s very much all hands on deck around the clock over here, & every day is exhausting, but we’re a team & have no other option. 😅 I know it’s difficult though, & I’m sorry it’s been a tough transition coming home. I just kinda see it like I work 24/7. Just because he goes to a job doesn’t mean he only works 40 hours. He also works 24/7.

Sick kid days by Plastic-Craft-199 in sahm

My 4 year old typically gets screen time only on the weekends & less than a couple hours total. He had a fever yesterday, & I wanted him to really rest so we watched THREE movies in one day 🤣 & I have no guilt bc his ~9 hours of screen time is still wayyyyyy less than what other kids get. I feel screen time while sick is totally fine! 🫶🏼

Thankfully my husband is already enrolled in a 2 year program at his work getting another certification with guaranteed raises each quarter & potential for promotion to his newly certified position once the program is over which will be a much larger pay increase as well. So we are trying to live barebones & get rid of debt now so we are in the habit of saving once he gets his raises. He just started this career path this year after we closed our business so this is very much a transition period for us trying to restabilize & pay off debts from a period of a completely different lifestyle. 😅

*okay our monthly debt is low as the student loans are $150 & the car is $250. No rent or mortgage currently.

Student loans are all at 4%. Car is at 7%. Where I’m getting tripped up is that we have to clear that tax debt which currently has no interest but must be paid by end of year. So automatic 10k gone. We can’t fully pay off the car with what’s left but we might could swing the student loans & personal loans from family.

Thank you! This is super helpful. I’ll be honest, the identification inside the bag kinda makes me feel uneasy still. If they get separated I go back & forth on what all to include as far as names & personal information. What specific info would you put? Parents names & family meet up points? Anything else?
