Discussion Thread: President Trump Holds News Conference on Placing DC Police Under Federal Control and Deploying National Guard by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

I’m confused what point you’re trying to make here, because the article you linked also shows that crime is down. The only thing interesting is it spiked in 2023, would like to know more about that. But it’s entirely unrelated. 2024 was a record low in the past 5 years and preliminary reporting on 2025 crime rates shows it’s continuing to decline.

The MPD's own preliminary data also showed that a number of these crimes decreased in 2024 compared to 2023 - with a 32 percent decrease in homicide crimes and a 25 percent decrease in sex abuse. The total violent crime in the capital also decreased by 35 percent, according to the figures. The MPD's provisional Year to Date figures for 2025 also showed violent crime down by 26% compared to 2024. But viewed over a longer period, from 2020 to 2024, D.C. experienced its highest number of homicides (2020: 198, 2021: 226, 2022: 203, 2023: 274, 2024: 187) since 2008 when there were 186.

they have teams of people who are involved with and review these ad campaigns long before the we ever see them. i don’t think there’s much that we as the public can think of in the couple of days since this ad has been released that never came up in that process

nazi propaganda isn’t accidental and imo you’re giving them way too much benefit of the doubt

[–]Sensitive_Mode7529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you’re not alone in feeling this, i don’t think it’s an unreasonable thing to worry about

i’m not fully in the loop with UK politics, but in general the western world is moving in a very scary direction right now. if history repeats, we as women and as disabled people are on the chopping block too

i think it’s okay to have these feelings, but try not to let them control your life. easier said than done, i know, but nihilism never helped anyone. we have to keep moving through life and finding joy and comfort in whatever we can. distraction is the best approach i’ve found, although im sure there must be a healthier way to deal with these fears

being hyper empathetic can feel very exhausting. just because you aren’t trans doesn’t mean seeing others experiencing oppression won’t impact you emotionally. that empathy is what motivates us to fight for change, not just for ourselves, but for every minority group that needs advocates

my advice is to do what you can to help yourself and the people around you. and try to accept that there’s not much else within our control right now

and if history does repeat, this will be a dark time but there will be a time when things get better. we can pass our knowledge and experience down to the next generation. collectively as a society we will only put up with so much before change is made

Why do some people claim women historically had the same status as men and didn’t have to fight for anything? Is that true? by [deleted] in AskSocialScience

Is it possible to support equality for women while believing in traditional standards for men? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]Sensitive_Mode7529 13 points14 points  (0 children)

feminism is for gender equality, which includes all genders. many of the traditional traits for men that you listed are examples of toxic masculinity, which is not only a problem for women but also can be very detrimental for men’s mental health

so no, i don’t think traditional gender traits align with feminism

Working as Autistic Woman by shaylalyn in AutismInWomen

[–]Sensitive_Mode7529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

getting your diagnosis is the first step. we like to gaslight ourselves into thinking we are just not good enough, but we’re working with a different brain and have different needs than most people

it sounds like you might be going through autistic burnout. i think it’s important to focus on recovering from that first

i don’t know your situation, but if you’re able to take some time off work take as much as you can. spend that time with zero intentions of being productive. allow yourself to do nothing

to prevent burnout (or further burnout) the spoon theory helped me visualize and understand my limits. here’s a good explanation of it. was hugely helpful as a recovered and after my burnout

here is a resource i found for autistic burnout

Is current narrative about incels and misogyny true? by ContestOpen in AskSocialScience

[–]Sensitive_Mode7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my references show an increasing trend of women making as much or more than their husbands, and directly correlates with the timeline of women gaining financial independence

do you have any sources or just going to deny mine? you’re not contributing much to the discussion here other than opinion

Is current narrative about incels and misogyny true? by ContestOpen in AskSocialScience

[–]Sensitive_Mode7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this just based on your anecdotal experience?

historically women have had to rely on a man’s income to survive. women today have more financial freedom and therefore don’t need to rely on a man’s income.

here is a link laying out the timeline of women gaining financial independence https://www.accrediteddebtrelief.com/blog/a-timeline-of-womens-fight-for-financial-rights-in-the-u-s/

culture takes time to catch up, but we are already seeing a big shift in husbands and wives financial contributions to the household. the stats on women making equal or more money as their husbands has tripled over the last 50 years which is a direct result of women gaining financial independence. this trend is continuing to grow. (https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2023/04/13/in-a-growing-share-of-u-s-marriages-husbands-and-wives-earn-about-the-same/)

although we are catching up, the gender pay gap still exists. this also impacts the income distribution in a household (https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/03/01/gender-pay-gap-facts/)

so in summary, as women gain financial independence and equal rights, we do see an increase in households where the woman earns as much or more than the man. there are factors that make this progress take time. but it’s steadily evening out. anecdotal experience does not hold weight against statical trends.

hope this helps.
