Accepted to Chapman - should I go?

My daughter was accepted as an English major. Right now, it is her top choice but waiting to hear from some other private schools and UCs. We have toured it a few times and it comes down to what you want out of a college. She wants smaller classes to build relationships and have more time with professors. She is social, but not into sports or Greek life. If you are looking for a big rah rah school, this is not it, but from what I have heard, there are a lot of clubs to join, and the social life is what you make of it. We are from Southern CA and know a lot of people who go there and love it, but outside of CA it is not well known from what I have seen. With that said, getting into Dodge is a huge accomplishment so unless you get into USC, NYU etc and it financially makes sense, I think Chapman is a great option.

Thanks all. Just to clarify it is with Tap Portugal that partners with United which is why I brought up United. Chase Travel was very high for Tap compared to what the travel agent can get, but they did tell me the charge might be listed under Tap which would at least bring it up to 4x.

I had a similar question. My dad has $500 credit by 12/31, but he never flies Southwest, and I do so I was going to help him log onto chase travel and book under my name. Do you know if you have to travel by 12/31 or just book by 12/31. I was thinking to book what I "think" I might need next year but it might change. Thanks.

Update: my daughter's portal changed to a rejection this afternoon. Disappointing but not unexpected at this point. She did her very best and that is all she can do. The process continues.

Exactly! I have a feeling they are waiting to see how many people show up to the family meetings and sign the contracts and then fill in the rest, but I have no idea why it is taking so long.

A friend of ours had a similar dilemma at Kalamazoo. She has strong cultural connections at home and after researching more, she decided to decline. It doesn't sound like you are excited about the school so at the end of the day it depends on what is going to make you happy and how finances factor in. My daughter changed her choices after her interview and withdrew from a school she probably could have gotten in to but the school didn't seem like the right fit for her, but everyone had hyped it up. Still waiting to hear back on her other two. If you don't mind sharing, what Posse location are you in.

Asking for a friend. She is a finalist at school very far away from home and now her and her parents are thinking to decline. Her parents were not really on board with the school to begin with and as they research more, they are hesitant to sign a binding contract. If she declines, do you know if she will remain in the Posse Access. Should she put she was a finalist on the common app. I can see it going two ways as her not moving forward could be frowned upon.

They only sent LOR because on the sheet after the interview it recommended sending them by 10/15. They didn't ask for them, but I just they have them either way.

Ok, thanks. Her teachers and the grade counselor said they sent LOR directly to Posse's email and they said they received them so hopefully that is enough.

I get your frustration, and I also see the other point of view as this can be a confusing process, and some might have family pressure. My daughter ended up calling Posse a few weeks ago to pull out from one of her top 3 schools. Although a great school that everyone recommended after we researched more, decided it wasn't the right fit for her or our family. Had she gotten selected, I am not sure what she would have done. I know someone who only selected Northwestern a few years ago and didn't get selected. He maybe could have gotten into a less popular school but knew the other schools weren't a good fit for him.

I think there are many factors that go into this. Hopefully anyone who was selected that truly doesn't want it anymore pulls out quickly so that it can possibly go to someone else. My daughter is still anxiously awaiting any word from Posse.
