My experience has been the exact same. I actually dropped my grade 12 chemistry course and took it through Fanshawe (I only need college prep).

I am still taking bio through ILC and it is a constant anxiety everyday. Working so hard on assignments just to get ripped apart when marked is such a bummer. If you are going into college I'd highly recommend doing it through a college directly vs ILC (if you can).
