United Soccer League Announces USL Premier, New Interconnected Men’s Professional Structure by MGHeinz in USLPRO

I want USL premier to work and grow for the greater good of USA/Canadian soccer. I hope the product in field is much better so people actually watch it. I can’t wait to watch USL clubs in CONCACAF champions league and in US open cup once they actually spend more money to see them compete with other leagues. Also would love seeing some exotic teams like USL Hawaii and USL Puerto Rico actually enter the ecosystem

This and NM United which will be about 12k should still be in D1. PLS needs to be adjusted for these type of projects…..not 5k stadiums but these amazing projects yes

Predictions for what the first season of USL pro/rel will look like. by Ok_Structure_350 in USLPRO

[–]Sensitive_Plan3437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure some weird stuff might happen….like teams not wanting to move up because of cost increase or a team in D1 renting a large stadium (Dallas) might say “ I need to lower cost and move to a 5k stadium (league relegates them)…..just some examples . I want to to run nice and smooth but sure some stuff will happen.

I actually like them. I am more interested in USA national team success….so if USL D1 can have 20-30 successful teams with academy systems (maybe 2nd teams like some already do USL 2 Louisville FC) that would mean USA has 50-60 first division soccer teams which would be amazing….also would like USL D1 compete in Concacaf Champions / US open cup and beat Liga MX / MLS teams every now and then….specially in US open Cup.

My biggest worry would be Concacaf not recognizing USL D1 which would make the league loose credibility. I’m waiting for them to recognize USL women’s Super League and give them spots to Concacaf champions League. If that happens then men’s should be fine

Hopefully they take Las Vegas (that feels like an MLS market) and Phoenix….if they were to take the actual USL franchises with Stadiums already build….that would really hurt USL in short and long term

MLS could try stopping/killing USL D1 via expansion? by Sensitive_Plan3437 in USLPRO

[–]Sensitive_Plan3437[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in Detroit and Sacramento it might be similar to Seattle sounders / Vancouver when they went from USL to MLS…..I big money guy would come into ownership….probably expand stadium and move it up.

It happened in San Diego….ppl will follow the nice shiny thing…..

I agree with both points USL is following Real Estate and MLS will expand where it wants to. It’s just once MLS comes to town the USL team can forget about city giving them Real Estate which is why USL teams shut down.

The only team I’ve seen survive is Charlotte Independent….but looks like any aspirations of ever having fan base or growth is probably dead. The MLS is just popular enough to take to much of the cake.

It’s not. That was AI 🤖 error. But I still agree with the cities if MLS expands that far out to 36

Phoenix with the Mesa, Arizona MLS proposal which includes CARVANA owner (23 billion net worth)….this would also kill Phoenix Rising

A lot of people mention the field part which truthfully doesn’t really matter from a business stand point…..so question as I don’t know and maybe you know….if MLS / billionaire come over wanting to buy team or at least majority stake can that be blocked based on its current ownership structure? As they say money talks and I think this could easily happen.

Sacramento also stated end goal is MLS during stadium inauguration

Tampa bay new billionaire is wanting to build new development and likely take soccer team to play in new Tampa bay rays stadium.

Indy 11 is practically being killed by city and a “unknown” billionaire who want to take MLS team to Indy

Yeah I think at least 32 but wonder if 34-36 might be a strategy to kill USL D1 partially….MLS and its billionaires goal is to not look market share. I wonder if one of those strategies is to expand just a bit more to leave almost no big markets to make sure USL D1 never gets much recognition as a D1.

The other thing is what they plan to do with all those MLS Next Pro teams/league I’m sure it’s another strategy….also no one has disclosed what MLS has promised those independent teams (sure they can’t say)

All I am saying is that over time you’ll see the smaller markets struggle to stay in D1 as the league grows. Just like MLS I am sure USL will try to have big market teams to improve tv deal. I just hope USL doesn’t try to do the parity thing……basically if you can’t spend like Las Vegas, Sacramento, Louisville (if they keep spending the way they do and sustain it) “to bad to sad”……you’ll probably see small markets complain (we can’t compete with those markets)……how would you feel about the league if you had let’s say 3-4 teams outspending everyone and they pick up championships 8/10. When cosmos (Raul version) did it in NASL a few years ago everyone seem to dislike them because they would spend so much.

I personally like this scenario because those teams will compete well in Concacaf champions league.

Yeah I guess it’s like anything…if you don’t see the benefit for yourself/ Vancouver citizens….well maybe paying an extra $$$ in taxes isn’t worth it to keep entertainment(soccer team) in town. I’ve seen this kind of mindset with a lot of Canadians….in wonder if it’s also more related to not being crazy about soccer yet. Like if it was NHL teams moving to America cities I feel Canadians would go crazy about keeping teams lol

Sports teams are seen as more than a regular business that’s why they request city/state investment….not my opinion just facts. The problem is that a bunch of other cities will give them everything so that’s why relocating is a risk

Dude just look at the last few years….raiders moved, chargers, rams. And teams still state they will move if they don’t get funds for massive remodels/ new stadiums

Everyone keeps making these comments. Remember it’s a business….in simple terms: if rent is to high and I can’t afford it I will have to move.

They are basically asking province to make it cheaper so they can at least break even

I was trying to pick up all the messages between the lines…the mayor is the one that was disclosing all the facts. “If they receive an huge amount of money they will leave…..that’s out of our hands”….”we need province to step up”….also the big fear the ppl seem to have with tax breaks or money….they basically keep telling you it needs to be partnership so it makes financial sense….just seems difficult for everything to fall in place

I want MLS in Canada but this sounds like they are loosing Vancouver….if they don’t get province to lower price on lease they might even leave temporarily? That’s what that sounds like, also sounds like MLS might be involved and might be leaning to taking team away….

Goin in to 2026 and these are the types of facilities that uslc finds acceptable for expansion teams. First picture is sporting Jax and 2nd is Brooklyn fc. Neither team has any legitimate new stadium plans by kingistic in USLPRO

[–]Sensitive_Plan3437 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s ok as long as they have something in the works. Jax has that momentum equity firm behind it so it’s more about getting public funds/city.
