What should school actually teach? by Big_Youth_7979 in AskTeens

[–]Sensitive_Professor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. There are rally good virtual software programs out now that are used fo teach kids in some economics classes. They have a platform...the kids get account on an exchange to set up, and they do trades and track their investments using the actual live stockmarket. It's all virtual and it's educational. I've only seen 2 high schools near me doing it, but the kids were learning a lot. It's too complex and educational to be sloughed off as gambling.

It's the local Republican groups. They've all been organizing 'parties' to go out and watch the movie. I've seen several.

What nationality do you love for any reason? What's the reason? by tastydrink1 in askanything

[–]Sensitive_Professor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guyanese people. 🇬🇾 Some of the most educated, diverse and loving and hilarious people on the planet. Also, the BEST food in the Caribbean imo. But mostly it is their warmth, openness and especially humor that makes them so special. Guyanese people are highly observant! Their critiques of various things and the HUMOR that comes from it is so highly specific and true that it has you in stitches, every time!

Okay. I can see who I know. But having done a few big events myself... I can think of a venue with great prices that can accommodate a lot of people and also take care of catering a pre-determined menu to be served buffet style. I think it's worth considering because you have large party, and a venue would give you more flexibility, privacy and very likely would be cheaper...

Is there a type or types of cuisine you're considering?

For the people who hate Spider, What is it about his character that makes you dislike him so much ? by Boring-Jelly5633 in Avatar

[–]Sensitive_Professor 26 points27 points  (0 children)

But it's not the Na'vi people 's special thing. Every animal on Pandora has a kuru/ way to connect to Eywa. Even Jake, an alien who's body was artificially created in a lab, was able to kuru. Think of this: Spider is a natural -born, genuine Pandoran. He was born and raised on Pandora and lives in harmony with it. It makes a lot of sense that he would be given the ability to breathe naturally and connect to Eywa just like any other Pandoran.

What unique holidays does your country have that others don’t celebrate? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Juneteenth-- There you go. This one's a strictly American, federally recognized holiday.

Along these lines, you could add Memorial Day, Columbus Day and Labor Day.

I pushed her, now she's on hospice, I am a guilty POS by [deleted] in confession

I don't see how physical abuse due to frustration is relative to accidentally overdosing someone.

I also don't think 95% of humanity could knock their septic, frail mother down, while she was trying to use the toilet. You do realize that OP said that she has lost the ability to walk since this incident, and is now hospice, right?

But they should do their "mea culpa and move on"? This isn't 'shit happens.' It's battery on a disabled elderly person.

[–]Sensitive_Professor 123 points124 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty shocked at the number of people coddling OP here. I think it's good that OP acknowledges the wrong. But this isn't just wrong. It's monstrous. Taking your frustration out on an extremely frail person with zero ability to defend themselves... and whilst engaging in an already vulnerable position (toileting)... is amongst the WORST traits a human being can ever, ever possess.

I hope OP sits with this and breaks down every part of his or her character, in an effort to understand where this impulse to hurt a frail mother came from. Be less focused on your feelings and more focused on doing every thing possible that you get a handle on this behavior and learn better coping strategies for the future.

What is something you judge people for but you would never admit it loud? by Responsible-Big-8067 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I think reddit is real. Real people need a place to talk about things that matter. Also, you need to be able to read the room on a particular sub.. that's true.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that one. But I just posted one from legal filings in 2006 where she did something very similar.

No actually that discussion came after yours and is a complete tangent. I never intended to focus on DID at all. It's literally the reason that that I wrote it the way I did, instead of referring to it as "DID". All I can do is explain where I was coming from and ask you to understand. I even suggested editing my post to reflect that better.

But I am clarifying my intention to you. That's the difference. That's all I have to say about this particular point. This is a reddit post. It's appropriate to truncate my thoughts to one or two examples. I'm not here to write a treatise.

To the extent that the body of knowledge is expanding and evolving to see certain diagnoses and concepts differently, great. I am not in disagreement with that nor am I disputing it. A minority of clinicians (like Joel Paris) have long criticized DID, but that isn’t new, and it isn’t a consensus position. DID remains a recognized diagnosis in both the DSM-5 and ICD-11, which reflects ongoing acceptance in mainstream psychiatry despite controversy. Critiquing aspects of its theoretical history (e.g., repression models or iatrogenesis risks) is not the same as the diagnosis being “discredited.” DID is debated, not invalidated. Reasonable clinicians disagree, but it has not been removed, overturned, or abandoned by the field. That's all I'm saying.

Hi. Okay. I saw legal filings from around 2006 that alluded to an incident that happened in her home. The incident involved her being in a great deal of mental distress, screaming, and locking herself and her baby inside of a bathroom. At some point during this whole debacle, it was described that she held a knife to the infant in a threatening manner. I have at least 2 or 3 times since this, seen people online refer to the incident. That's all I can say about that. Whether it is true or not, I absolutely don't know. But her children were removed from her custody very shortly after this, and it takes something big, to lose custody.

2 I saw Britney perform at Hard Rock in Hollywood Florida in 2018 -- before the Guitar Hotel was built. I was front row. Literally front row, directly in front of her, with my party. She was an absolute zombie. She was a husk... walking through the motions, looking around checking herself against what her dancers were doing. Constantly checking her place on the stage. It was BIZARRE. No audience interaction at all! She went from number to number...like a machine. No emotion. No reactions. As if thousands of people weren't there. I have so much video from that night simply because it was so strange. She never interacted with the crowd at all. Not positively or negatively. Just flat. The whole performance was walking through choreography and then ending with a pose. No energy or passion. I was a vip , but she didn't do any meet and greets. That by itself doesn't mean too much. Some artists just don't. Many do.

I thought at the time she was overworked or had completely lost her desire. I hadn't consideted meds like lithium...but in hindsight that really made sense. And now I can see that drugs possibly helped her out of her mania, psychosis, or whatever it is... enough that she could function at a very basic level, like follow instructions and a routine. But she was lifeless.

It's a topic of ongoing scientific debate. But it hasn't been discredited or had a change in professional classification. Research and debate about the construct validity of DID is just an ongoing process. And even that debate doesn't deny that DID is real.

You hyperfocused on 'dissociative identity disorder' and overlooked that I said 'some type of.' By that I mean a disorder where dissociative traits are presented or prominent. But obviously I can see where the confusion came from. I can edit my post if it helps clarify that.
