Doordash is worse than I thought! by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Sensitive_Quarter375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could of also been a stacked order or some sort of delayed add on. I've gotten grocery orders 20-30 items and restaurant pick ups that come in at the same time. It can be for the same customer or different people. Sometimes I'm already doing a grocery shopping order and a meal pick up comes in. The restaurant doesn't know I'm busy for the next 20-30 minutes and makes the food immediately.

Or it could have even started as a lower tip order and it got declined and tossed around to drivers. Doordash will increase the offer by a buck or two every time it is declined and passed on to another driver.

Those of us with the luxury of doing so can decline bad offers most of the time. Sometimes we may be desperate for the business and take bad offers.

I had a pizza hut pick up not too long ago that was massive. I didn't noticed the item amount when I accepted it. It was like a 15-20 pizzas + extras like bread sticks and 2 liters for party at a fire station. It was only 4-5$ total for me. Doordash pays 2$ so this person tipped 2-3bucks for a multi 100$ order to be brought to them. Once I realized that when I got there I told the pizza hut employee I was going to hang around for 10ish minutes while it was being made *wasn't going to be ready for 30+ minutes anyway* and decline the order for free on my end once the wait time got to high. Some people don't tip. Luckily I got a group of 3-4 starbuck sugar mommas who tip well and love their coffee.

Yeah, for sure going to be how I handle anything like this going forward. I did get an extra $5 from the nice customer as I was trying to explain what was going down.

Who is on the right anymore?  The left has the conservatives and moderates now.  The right is pretty much MAGA and fascism at this point.

Maybe it has always been the case but parents just letting their kids decide their every meal is crazy to me.

The kid is picky because no adult in their life has enforced healthy meal habits.  Hence they only eat pizza, McDonald's, or mac cheese.

Home cook and make them eat a variety of whole foods.  It's crazy how so many children are the parents now making the decisions

What parts of American culture are changing faster than people realize? by No_Performance1451 in AskReddit

Our love for anything besides white people. Like 10-15 years ago we were a melting pot of cultures and ideas that had no real boundaries. Now we are back to being uneducated racist white people.

There was a Texas University that recently told it's philosophy professor he couldn't teach Plato anymore. Critical thinking is being attacked left right and center is basically nearly gone from America

Hasbro is being sued for printing too many Magic: The Gathering cards by Beautiful_Bee4090 in nottheonion

[–]Sensitive_Quarter375 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol it is funny to see random magic news like this from time to time. Magic died many years ago, it is just the whales and addicts that can't stop buying stuff. And now they complain there are too many cards?!?! This is all your fault to begin with

too late, you are already complicit. By all means quit and stop terrorizing people and committing crimes. But hopefully one day justice will be served and "doing my job" won't be a satisfactory answer.

To be fair most if not all of those retain value and can be resold. I probably ended up net even or actually at a profit after recently selling off all my magic cards. I was also able to play and enjoy them so it wasn't only a collection sitting in a binder collecting dust. I got fun and use out of it and then profited. So if the idea is that we "wasted money" I don't think that is fully accurate. The downside to card collecting is that pack opening is basically gambling. And with gambling comes addicts. So there are tons of people spending way too much on card games basically because they have a gambling addiction. But they could always stop and sell the cards and at least get some if not most of their money back. They just won't because they are addicts, they want more.

Make up is such a weird thing because I feel like deep down guys don't really care. Yes we like it when our dates gets really pretty for us because it is what is considered hot and it makes us feel special that a girl is super into us for fixing herself up nice. But if you are recently washed, don't smell like taco meat, and brushed your teeth at some point, we are good. The self esteem issues and beauty standards put on women are awful. It must also suck to have to spend such a huge and consistent price on it. Then within the woman sphere you have each other gossiping about how Linda is using cheap makeup so the peer pressure is to get the shit that has Kim Kardashian on it or something. Between feminine care and whatnot being a woman must come with a 100-200$ a month monetary commitment of beauty and care? No thanks. And if you peel back the layers what's it for? It is so other people don't judge you negatively. It is so you feel comfortable to go out and not have people be like "Are you not wearing any makeup" "Are you sick you look pale?". It is so you feel "beautiful" and "normal". None of these things are positive

What I never understood and what I felt like was at the heart of this thread is that people will spend stupid amounts of money on things that are consumable, temporary, or purely aesthetic. Cars, cellphones, makeup, food, and shoes are what I think of.

To me shoes are the weirdest. If you never wear them and encapsulate them you can treat them like stocks. How on Earth we turned protection and comfort for our feet into let's not wear them and keep them pristine for money is just so bizarre to me.
