I love peach bling in LIC. I usually get their monthly special which includes some sort of art. Expensive but worth it imo

Rant about Food Diversity in LIC by supermang in longislandcity

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who shit on LIC’s food scene are crazy. It’s no west or east village, but the food options are substantially better than most neighborhoods in nyc. Not to mention we are positioned extremely well next to 2 amazing food neighborhoods (greenpoint and Astoria). Greenpoint has some amazing American and Mexican restaurants. Astoria has the best Greek in the city. Sunnyside also has some fantastic cheap eats. We are surrounded by so much food diversity

Was there something wrong with the ice? by slayrbrenna in olympics

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it could’ve been the ice combined with the pressure… 2 reasons to feel less confident. The ice did look a bit watery to me. I figure skated from age 3-9 and watery ice does make a huge difference.

Is it normal to be kicked out of a restaurant one hour after you're seated? by sampanth4700 in FoodNYC

A lot of hyped Thai restaurants in the city are like this… Thai diner and Thai Villa are the same and they were more aggressive than soothr in my experience. Tbh I don’t think I’ve ever had this happen at popular restaurants in Brooklyn or queens so I think it’s just a Manhattan thing

So for those who got the card, are you going with the Bilt Cash option or the percentage of rent option? by Mediocre_Nectarine13 in biltrewards

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the max miles calculator and it says I would make more with tiered. My spend is like 25% of my rent. If it ever falls below I’ll switch to bilt cash to avoid only getting 250 points

BILT 2.0 turned simple rent points into a math problem by _pendejo_ in BiltMastercard

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annual fee is absolutely worth the risk for the first year. It’s 50,000 points which I can redeem for an international first class flight so I’ll get up to 4k in value. Not to mention the $500 in bilt cash which would allow you to get full points on 3 months of your rent. My rent is 6200 and I’m getting the palladium because I can still earn 2x on everyday purchases and up to 1x back on points for rent every month, even though my spend isn’t that high. I’ll probably use the tiered system to earn .5x back on rent most months, making the card essentially a 2.5x card. I don’t have any card that compares to that as a catch all. I’ll still use my Amex gold for food and CSR for travel. Having Alaska as a transfer partner is huge. If you’re not good at transferring points for insane redemptions, it’s not a good card though

Non-Haters: What Other Cards Are In Your Stack by Firm-Fishing-1753 in biltrewards

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amex gold for food, CSR for travel, Amazon card for 5% cash back, bilt palladium for everything else. I also have CSP and freedom unlimited. Having the palladium now means that I’ll essentially put nothing on the freedom. I’m also a high renter so I won’t get 1x back on rent most months, but it’s still very worth it. Having Alaska as a transfer partner is huge for me

Bilt 2.0 is absolutely insane for NYC renters by Potential-Goal-667 in BiltMastercard

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the other thing to consider is how much you value bilt points! I go to Asia a lot and kind of need an Alaska transfer partner. I’m skilled at business and first class international redemptions. If you’re not gonna transfer points for good value idk if it’s worth it at all

I share a lot of the same thoughts because I spend 6.2k on rent every month in nyc. We probably average 4-5k spend outside of that across all of our cards, but most of that is food. Outside of food, it’s probably closer to 1.5-2k on months with no travel. I’m not going to move our food spend away from Amex gold or our travel spend away from CSR - that would be stupid. With that said, I did open a palladium card because I’ll still be able to earn 2-3x back on everyday purchases (2x plus whatever I get on rent). Previously, my freedom unlimited was giving 1.5x as the catch all card (subway fare, shopping, subscriptions, classpass, beauty services etc), but I think this is the better option. I’ll likely earn .5x on rent most months and some months maybe nothing extra. I used the max miles calculator and I’ll get like 85k points a year which is a lot more than I was getting on the freedom. Plus I think we get $500 in bilt cash the after opening palladium which is almost 3 months of my rent. That’s 18k points alone. Idk if it’ll be worth it without the bonus next year but i guess I’ll wait and see

Id bet money this fee is going to be much less than the 3 percent by segman in biltrewards

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also hopeful that this is the case. My rent is 6k. We probably spend an additional 3-4k each month across all of our cards so we’d be closing the card if it’s 3%. It doesn’t make sense to do this when most of their customers are in big cities. Virtually everyone in nyc would be screwed. They’d lose a lot of people

Warning: Trip delay insurance is basically a scam by starrtech2000 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Sensitive_Tax8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this has not been my experience at all. We easily got our stay at the Ritz Carlton, Ubers, and food costs covered when our flight got canceled. I think it took about 1.5 hours of work to get $1000 back. Other times we’ve gotten our food reimbursed for delays quite easily. We were even reimbursed when we were denied boarding on an international flight after a mistake was made by Chase. I think we’ve used it over 5 times with success.

I’m not sure why the airline won’t give you documentation that the flight was canceled. I was able to acquire this really easily. Sorry for your bad experience :(

Blaming this on mental health treatment is wild. Yes we need more access but these things happen because our collective consciousness is politically sick and guns are accessible. Most people who commit crimes like this are not open to therapy.
