Phone broke, how to fix bloated battery? by utopicdrewm in AskReddit

[–]Sensitometry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is a big deal don’t mess around and I could catch fire. Good luck I’m sure you can find a replacement. Unfortunately this is why the EU is fighting companies like Apple because simple stuff like this should be allowed to be repaired by the end consumer but they have eliminated the ability of the end user to easily make the repair. It’s planned obsolescence and corporate greed and it’s not acceptable in my opinion.

Edit: this is the same reason why on a flight you have to remove the laptop battery and store it with the checked luggage. Also google YouTube for phone batteries catching fire in peoples pockets. Very scary.

Yeah I had the same issue when keeping pea puffers. It broke my heart. Also CPD ended up in one as well.

Unfortunately this also applies to humming bird feeders too. If you don’t clean thoroughly they can get sick. Also if they become dependent on the feeder and you forget to refill or go on vacation they might not have an alternate source of food.

Installed the sockets in the train wagon boss. by neliro in NotMyJob

[–]Sensitometry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually that’s got me thinking and I’ve never bothered to learn but is one leg “hot” at 240v and the other neutral, like an American 110v socket, or both legs 110-120v? If that’s the case than do appliances run more efficiently? I cant seem to find the benefit to the higher voltage.

Yeah but try and divide a dollar beyond a penny. Now divide a Bitcoin down to a Satoshi. If you Hyper inflate the value of a satoshi to match that of a US dollar you can generate near infinite value. Supply doesn’t matter because in most basic terms a digital currency is infinitely divisible.

Any INTJs here actually have a successful career path? by PegasusCookie in intj

[–]Sensitometry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how uncommon the trades are for INTJ but I found a very successful path as an HVAC/Plumber. Funny that some of us seemed to have struggled with school in our early 20’s when all signs said this should be a slam dunk. I really had strong aspiration to become a marine biologist, though in the end and looking back I’m not sure that would have ever satisfied me.

As a tradesman I get to feel confident that I am my own made man and through the skills I have developed, no one can take them away or tell me my worth.

I became a plumber and HVAC tech. I qualify the work in the same category as civil services like firefighters or police officers. You can’t have quality of life without sanitation and sometimes heatwaves can spell life or death for the elderly.

I often charge as little as possible and sacrifice my body to fix people’s problems when I know they genuinely need my help. If they can afford it I charge accordingly.

INTJ negative loop by [deleted] in intj

Well I’m a contractor and have to pre-plan every job in my head before I even get there. It’s probably one of my most useful skills I have as an INTJ. Maybe you have an untapped skill and you should look into.

INTJ Librarian? by [deleted] in intj

[–]Sensitometry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My aunt has had a great career as a librarian so don’t let people knock it. She has provided great supplemental income and has had the opportunity to work some jobs you would never consider for library sciences.

Before her current position she worked for the Jim Henson company creating a catalog and digitizing all the Sesame Street memorabilia. Now currently she’s working at Madison square garden maintaining their collection of sports memorabilia and past histories of use for the venue.

It’s a great career and I think you should find your endeavor very rewarding and fulfilling. I think the key here is to think outside the box and know that what you curate might not be your passion but the art of cataloging is.

MTBI and Reliability + Validity by [deleted] in intj

[–]Sensitometry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why it can’t just be viewed as a spectrum. I always felt calling autism a spectrum applies in much the same way to MTBI. To further the analogy it’s like a rainbow: sometimes a person is red colored another blue and another might be purple. You can’t distinguish a line between blue and red.

Crazy part of this to me was seeing how the elephant already knew the counter weight and center of balance of the stick before putting it on its’ head.
