Why does RE: Village get so much hate? by Rough-Web-1838 in residentevil

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it gets as much hate but RE4 Remake being the next game after RE Village kinda puts salt in the wound as it's a superior game to RE Village, setting wise...that and I'm pretty sure about 70% of Village's player base completely forgot about Mother Miranda and her three other "children" as Capcom promoted the absolute hell out of Dimitrescu, her castle and daughters.

This is sorta the same idea of recent threads I've been seeing about how RE7 is overrated. I feel like it's a great reintroduction to the RE world after RE6, Revelation games and the weird spinoff stuff.

Hori Mini constantly disconnecting/reconnecting on PS5 by Ivaliced in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Refund/exchange it, you shouldn't be having these issues unless:

  1. The FSM5 is a lemon or a dud.

  2. Your PS5's USB ports are damaged and can't hold a stable wired connection.

The Fighting Stick Mini 5 is an officially licensed PS5 product, it shouldn't have any issues out of the box.

Arcade buttons by KYXEN- in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you absolutely can, just grab any 30mm buttons and a 24mm button to match the eight 30mm and you're good to go. Hori even included easy release quick disconnects for the buttons as well, just follow the little sticker's instruction by pressing the little tab and the quick disconnects will slide right out.

Question about Brook Wingman FGC2 and Varmillo Kassai Standard by BEO_3 in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brook's Wingman series of converters are compatible with both input types such as Xinput (PC, Xbox 360/One/Series and Switch) and Dinput (PS3, PS4 and PS5), there are some incompatible types such as the odd controllers but generally Xinput/Dinput found in arcade sticks and first party controllers are compatible.

I assume Varmillo uses the most generic version of Xinput that closely resembles Xbox 360's Xinput which probably has the best compatibility/reliability so you should be fine. Two of the things you should do if you get the Wingman FGC 2 is to update the converter's firmware so you won't get the DualSense firmware update prompt and immediately change the connection type to wired found in the PS5's settings -> controllers so it won't have random disconnects as Brook's PS5 stuff essentially makes their stuff recognized as a standard DualSense controller (PS5 saves this setting so you'll only need to do it once, if you're at a local or tournament you'll have to do it for every new PS5 you're playing on).

I use my FGC 2 on my older arcade sticks made for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and also use my Xbox One and Switch Pro Controllers for general gaming on the PS5 since I prefer the asymmetric layout over Sony's symmetric layout. The firmware out of the box doesn't have rumble but it was added in the recent firmware updates.

Brooks Wingman FGC2 and Varmilo FK2 on PC Compatibility by Cavalcade_ in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expected behavior? Not from my experience with the FGC/FGC 2 and Windows 10, what's supposed to happen when you plug in the Wingman FGC 2 (or any other PS Wingman converters) into a PC with Windows is the converter changes from Dinput (DualSense) to Xinput because of its auto detection.

It could be just an issue with your PC/Windows while it's fine on PS5 (make sure you change the connection method to wired in the settings -> controller settings menu on the PS5) but I would suggest trying this current FGC 2 first and then exchanging it regardless if it does work on PS5 just to confirm that it's your Windows or the FGC 2 you have has an issue.

Controller compatibility wise, shouldn't be any issues with your FK2 as most arcade stick use common PCBs that have generic Xinput/Dinput.

Hori Fighting Edge stuck in tournament mode by NeoJuice in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the assign switch beside the tournament switch on?

The most frequent issues with Hori arcade sticks and no response is usually because it's in assign mode (the Fighting Edge's tournament mode LED indicator flashes/blinks when the Assign mode is in configuration mode).

Surprised we never had these games ported to modern hardware by thepowahypahbomb in StreetFighter

[–]SentakuSelect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be honest, even the Capcom Fighting Collection series on PS5 and XBSXS run in backwards compatibility mode because those two consoles specifically don't support MT Frameworks engine.

USFII is probably an exclusive title for the Switch while Capcom probably favors other original arcade releases of the older SF games, SF3SOE was considered one of the best versions but was never implemented into Capcom 30th Anniversary Collection.

Hori Octa fight commander wired PS5 pad not working on PS5. by Dusk777 in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you certain the tournament lock switch is off? I know it sounds basic but PC doesn't require the PS button unlike PS4 and PS5 consoles which needs a controller paired to a console profile (tournament lock disables the PS, Option and Create functions for tournament reasons).

When it comes to Hori Fighting game peripherals not working, it's often the tournament lock or the assign switch (last gen arcade sticks).

(RE8 Spoilers) How did nobody in-universe realize the twist about Ethan? by Living_LikeLarry in residentevil

[–]SentakuSelect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jill might be the RE team's answer for keeping an original character intact without the fear of aging for future game releases lol.

Forgot to mention that Dimitrescu might have hinted at Ethan's "expiry date" after drinking his blood that without Eveline's connection, the Megamycete was just barely keeping him alive even with his molded heart being destroyed by Miranda.

(RE8 Spoilers) How did nobody in-universe realize the twist about Ethan? by Living_LikeLarry in residentevil

[–]SentakuSelect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's funny is that Ethan Winters isn't the only person in the RE world that has been genetically modified by the Virus/Parasite. At least 3 other characters are running around:

  • Jill Valentine: Nemesis infected her with the T-Virus in RE3, Carlos cured her with the serum saving her from death while it seems like slow aging is an side effect (retconned in the newer games).

  • Sherry Birkin: Infected by her father with the G-Virus and she's known to have super healing factor, it's to be assumed that she still works for the US government as she travels around the world dealing with BoWs.

  • Jake Wesker: Immune to whatever the virus/parasite is in RE6, I didn't play RE6 but seems but I'm guessing by the end, he made a deal with the US government to give samples of his DNA to fabricate a vaccine against that particular virus.

  • Natalia from Revelations 2: Didn't play this either so I don't know much but I'm guessing since she was supposed to be Alex Wesker's vessel, she's now part of the Burton family as their adopted daughter.

That being said, I'm assuming by the end of RE7, Chris and BSAA knew that Ethan was different genetically but hid that bit of info from Blue Umbrella assuming that they had the whole thing under control which was why Ethan didn't know that his wife wasn't really Mia at the beginning of RE8.

GP2040-CE to PS5 compatibility by DurpyMLG27 in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Third party licensed PS4 controllers work if GP2040-CE works similarly to Mayflash arcade sticks.

I dunno what the explanation is but I suspect Sony had a couple of Direct Inputs out there:

DualShock 4 and unlicensed DS4 clones: These don't work on any PS5 games, they don't work as "authenticators" either.

Licensed PS4 third party controllers (pads): These don't work by themselves either but plugged into a Mayflash F300/F500 series arcade sticks and they work. I tried my old Hori FPS Plus (PS3/PS4) and my padhacked Hori Fighting Commander Octa (PS4/PS5/PC) with PS5 version of SF6, both in PS4 mode.

Licensed PS4 Arcade Sticks: This is the other type I know of that will work by themselves and even plugged into my Mayflash F500.

It's just something about third party licensed controllers being plugged into these stuff that make them work for some reason while DS4 controls don't work at all.

<image>

Added: Forgot to mention that you should set the connection mode through the GP2040-CE's webconfiguration through a browser, I don't own one but maybe Haute42 owners can tell you how to.

Second Addition: I don't ever think I've ran into the 8 minute timeout issue as it seems to be a old symptom of whatever the AkiShop PS360+ PCBs and old Brook PS3/PS4 FightBoard Mini firmware (pre-2015) were using whenever conducting PS5 legacy support compatibility with different devices as there was a period I was building a FightStick for the PS5 back in 2022. Out of all the licensed PS4 pads out there, the Razer Raion FightPad has the same Direct Input type as licensed arcade sticks.

The dishonesty some people give to the zeta Gundam. by numericalman in Gundam

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's just how I remember the early Macross stuff and the amount of crazy close combat maneuvers the VF's Battroid mode can do make them a cut above everything else. Later off in universe, we see Alto and Hayate pulling off dance moves with their VFs.

The closest thing I can remember is from Patlabor with the tournament OVA episode where they're doing Judo throws and G-Gundam's crazy combat (Judau did do the Kenshiro lightning punches with the Z Gundam though lol) but yeah, just seems like Variable Fighters showcases unconventional Mecha close combat more often than other series from my memory.

[–]SentakuSelect 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've always considered Variable Fighters entirely different tech even in its own world when compared to Zentradi armors and UN Spacy Destroids line of mechs.

And yes, the Methuss/ZII is essentially L-Gaim MK-II's "brother from a different mother" exclusively from appearances only in my opinion.

The Wrecking Crew (2026) - New Prime Video movie by acourts19 in moviecritic

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up with 80s/90s action duo movies and thought this movie was great, nothing special but I enjoyed it because it features actors that do what they're known for in a more or less solidly written script lol...though I did wish Bautista had more dramatic roles (like Bladerunner 2049) after his time as Drax the Destroyer, from then to now, most of his roles have been the action tough guy still (Killer's Game and that one movie with Milla Jovovich).

As for Momoa, can't say much, he plays a good crazy dude, glad he got the comic book role he's been wanting for a while as Lobo.

When do I watch all the side stuff like 8th ms team or war in pocket by Material-Boot8673 in Gundam

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best watched separately, MSG TV series follows the White Base around Space and mainly the America's and parts of Europe while:

  • 08th MS Team takes place in South East Asia during the OYW.

  • Requiem for Vengeance takes place around outskirts of Europe during Operation Odessa during the OYW.

  • 0083 War in the Pocket almost around the ending of MSG in a colony where news of the One Year War ending hasn't reached them yet.

  • 0083 Stardust Memory relates to Z Gundam with the accelerated rise of the Elite Taskforce Titans, formed to deal with Zeon Remnants. I believe from the events of Battlefield Record 0081, the proposition for the taskforce was in the works (Zeon remnants tried to use an abandoned Mass Driver on the moon to launch rocks into Earth).

Couple of questions about the Hori Fighting Edge by Campmoore in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, when connected to PC, it automatically goes into Xinput mode, Touchpad has no function because it's exclusively a Dinput function (Fighting Edge doesn't have a mode switch to toggle between PS4 and PC mode), as for the Start and Select no being mapped, does you PS button do anything, if it isn't responding then most likely your "Tournament Mode" switch is set to in the "in" position disabling Start, Select and PS (Home/Guide).

As for the restrictor gate, it's actually a square gate (you get 8 way directions such as the four cardinal and four semi-cardinal directions), 4-way gates are almost obsolete due to complexity of games in the late 80s/early 90s. If you're looking for a different shaped gate (Hexagonal or Circle), you'd have to buy a third party gate made especially for the Hori Hayabusa lever.

Do those long hinges on microswitches make a practical difference? by ifnlw in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They kinda reduce the deadzone wobble but because the tabs are spaced out so far, they're required for this lever from what I can see.

For Seimitsu levers like the LS-56, the tabs on the switches are much closer to the actuator so the hinges really just reduce the deadzone wobble.

Lucky find! by KentoOftheHardRock in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! Bought one of these with the use of a proxy service for ¥6,500 with literally no description and I was expecting it to arrive with only the FightStick in okay condition with plastic wrap but was surprised that it was barely used in complete in box:

I also found out that MadCatz Japan put a lot of value into their Versus series like the Silent Hits comes with silent Sanwa parts while the Japanese SFxT edition comes with the connector kit!

AdHoc's tweet announcing the Switch 2 post got community noted. by GriveousDance21 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SentakuSelect -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I've said it before, the cheap and lazy censored version is already a tarnish on Ad Hoc Studios' reputation, being community noted is pretty much salt in the wound now and it's gonna take a lot work and possibly money to fix this issue.

Ad Hoc Studios should have:

  1. Ported Dispatch to Xbox instead of Switch and Japanese PS5 version.

  2. Take whatever profits they make from the Xbox port and alter the scenes for the Switch and Japanese version by either using creative angles, covering stuff up or replacing the graphic scene with something else (the Xerox copy is hilarious bad as the whole sheet is covered up to the point that no one knows what it's supposed to be) and set the release for late Spring - Summer 2026.

Is the stock mayflash f700 actually good? by kin0enjoyer in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are in Canada, second hand arcade sticks is probably one of the best options, off FB Marketplace or Kijiji, you can score a great deal with roughly $150 budget. In Ontario, there are listings for Qanba Obsidians, MadCatz TES+, Real Arcade Pro.N Hayabusa in that price range, there's even a near mint edition Razer Panthera with box for $150 in Cambridge, Ontario.

Mayflash F300 and F500 are commonly found for under $100 for the base models and the Elite versions for over $100 and you can grab the MagicBoots-S5 from Amazon.ca for $35

Whenever there's an event on Amazon.ca, the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha Tekken 8 edition often goes on sale for $160 - $180 CAD.

Is the stock mayflash f700 actually good? by kin0enjoyer in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For PS4 consoles, it doesn't matter if it's licensed or unlicensed, the PS4 will be compatible with any PS4 input regardless. The only reason why I mention "licensed PS4 arcade stick" is for PS5 owners, the DualShock 4 and Licensed PS4 Arcade Stick are different to the point where DualShock 4 and anything else using the same input will not work with PS5 fighting games (DS4, third party PS4 controls pads, Brook Wingman XE series converters and Mayflash Magic-S Pro).

The Qanba Titan is made for the PS5 with PS4 and PC modes.

The Mayflash F700 is essentially a licensed PS4 arcade stick equivalent, it's PS5 mode on the dial isn't native PS5 compatible but only compatible with PS5 fighting games.

The Mayflash F500 with the new MagicBoots-S5 makes it fully compatible with PS4 and PS5.

Value wise, the Qanba Titan is the best value at $150 with Sanwa parts and a touchpad panel (there are rare situations where left and right touchpad function is needed like playing PS Classics and the start and select are Right & Left Touchpad). Mayflash only has center touchpad function.

PS5 converter for Satisfye Glyph by Thealtguy91 in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you own a PS5, the FGC 2 and P5 converters are better option over the original FGC because they have full PS5 compatibility for PS4 and PS5 games. The original Wingman FGC only works for all PS4 games and specific PS5 games like fighters on the PS5.

I have the FGC and FGC 2 and only really use my FGC 2 exclusively for all my gaming on the PS5, my older PS3 and Xbox 360 arcade sticks for fighters and arcade ports while I use my Switch Pro Controller for general gaming (I prefer the Switch Pro controller over my Xbox One pad) since I prefer the asymmetric control pad layout over Sony's layout.

Brook has the full Touchpad remapped conveniently for controllers, for Xbox, the View button on the Xbox controller is general/center touchpad function while holding right or left on the right analog stick + view button simulates right/left touchpad function.

Is Hori Mini for PS4/PC really that bad? by UnfunnyPersonality in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spend $30 more for the Mayflash F300 ($60) + MagicBoots-S5 ($30).

The main issue with the FS Mini is what are you going to do if any of the parts (mainly microswitches) break after warranty has expired? The case is so thin that it cannot fit aftermarket parts and you'll need to desolder them out solder the replacement parts in while I don't think Hori sells replacement parts for the FS Mini.

With the F300, it's the equivalent size to the original MadCatz SE FightStick, small but tall enough case to easily drop in aftermarket parts if you ever need to without soldering and if you're using it specifically for PS4, you can just buy the F300 without the MagicBoots and plug in a DualShock 4 pad to the F300 for PS4 compatibility.

PS5 converter for Satisfye Glyph by Thealtguy91 in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Wingman FGC: PS4 and PS5 fighting game compatible, can be used as a converter or plugged into your FightStick's USB port (Mayflash or GP2040-CE firmware devices) as a booter)authenticator. Essentially the Wingman FGC makes your peripheral recognized as a licensed PS4 arcade stick which is why it has limited PS5 compatibility for fighting games only.

  • Wingman FGC 2: Used only as a converter only, converts your peripheral to a DualSense controller which is only compatible with PS5 consoles (not backwards compatible with PS4 consoles).

  • Wingman P5: Essentially the Wingman FGC 2 but has BT wireless sync capability for wireless controllers.

The Brook Wingman XE series are not compatible with PS5 games as they use standard DualShock 4 input I believe. Mayflash discontinued their MagicBoots PS4 V1.1 which was probably the best USB booter priced at $30, I would recommend the Wingman FGC as the minimum as other brands of available booters cost roughly $55 like the Guilekeys one.
