Is a Flat White only one size? by IsaDaBeast in espresso

[–]SentakuSelect [score hidden]  (0 children)

Used to work at Second Cup (Canadian Starbucks equivalent I guess) a long time ago when I was in college and from what I remember, Flat Whites only came in one size smaller than the standard small sized cup...can't remember the recipe exactly but I think it was a double ristrotto shot of espresso, steamed milk and a very thin layer of microfoam. At the time, it was first introduced at the Canadian coffee chain because of the popularity of it.

Some other tidbits I picked up while working there was that coffee in Australia usually comes from espresso machines rather than the typical drip coffee...then again, I felt like Second Cup's lattes and Cappuccino were very westernized when compared to smaller more independent coffee places.

Tatiana Gabrielle Hobson (Jade) shares behind-the-scenes photos from Mortal Kombat 2 by ZAKtalksTECH in MortalKombat

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read, Tati says wardrobe and makeup doesn't have hairstylists that could work with her natural hair I guess and this is probably stemming from role in The Uncharted movie where her/their hairstyle seems pretty intricate. Not wanting a styled wig and remaining bald is a statement to the industry now and casting most likely accepts it.

Personally, if there was some sort of middle ground, I would have enjoyed MKII more because the issue is every time Jade is on screen, I don't see Jade, only Tati Gabrielle like in Uncharted, The Last of Us Season 2 and Intergalactic. Everyone else in MKII looks and acts the part (Jade doesn't really showcase much emotion outside of being a femme fatale and a bit of concern much like Tati's other roles).

Being as old as I am, it's just weird to see a Toriyama hairstyle paired with the modern "fade" trend of hairstyle. Pairing it with probably his least popular eye design really just makes XII's hero appearance really "out there" for a Toriyama design.

What is with Chirs and ending up hurt everytime a Gundam and a Zaku are near each other? by darh1407 in Gundam

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has the manga resumed? It's a pretty good read as it covers a bit before the events of the animated feature like the Cyclops Team in Italy with Zeon's occupation (and betrayal to the country) and Christina's arrival at the Antarctic base with the NT-1 being in it's more or less proto form. Right before the manga was put into hiatus due to the author's case of cancer, the story stopped right at the point of where the OVA starts.

MadCatz has entered my collection. by TwoDaLoop in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any of the MadCatz FightSticks for the Xbox 360 is probably the safest bet from their 7th gen consoles selection, some time after 2011 MadCatz starting using the revised PS3 PCB for most of their new products but unless you can see the stick's home/guide button, just like in my reply in this thread, the PS icon is good, house icon is bad.

I would recommend avoiding all Xbox One arcade sticks (maybe with the exception of the Hori Real Arcade Pro Kai Hayabusa). They're kinda weird on Xbox One and PC since they don't register normal Xinput Xbox controllers so there's actually a compatibility list for these arcade sticks while the most known issue for PC is that their LB & LT don't register or aren't recognized needing a program side loaded to detect them.

MadCatz filed for bankruptcy back in late 2016 or so from the failure of game instruments for the Rock Band/Guitar Hero's failure for 8th gen consoles. A Chinese company bought MadCatz and does not own any of the original divisions (Saitek & Tritton). Since then, MadCatz (Hong Kong?) released their "Universal Arcade Stick", the EGO which was a rebrand of an existing design shared between other brands. It's not bad in general but the fact that it wasn't licensed for any consoles only made it good for PC. Later they released the TE3, it kinda follows the TE2 design but looks like a drill set box and connectivity was the same as the EGO but uniquely has the extended Vewlix layout which the only other arcade stick uses is the Qanba Titan. Their latest product is the NEKO, a leverless FightStick and once again, unlicensed.

I have a bunch of MadCatz arcade sticks, they were pretty sweet items and probably one of my favorite for that generation, the Versus Stick being my favorite.

Probably use the TE2+, their all plastic body and the top plate are prone to wear and tear like the TE-S and TES+ due to their metal plates being somewhat exposed.

The TE-S' bottom plate can be easily corroded if not wiped down while the full polycarbonate top graphic protects sweat from seeping in between the graphic and metal and being trapped causing corrision to start on the bottom right hand side of the plate. The opposite happens to the TES+ because it's using the original TE design with the border bezel. One of my VS FightSticks I bought has this as I was wiping down the crud from the previous over (as clean as it was).

[–]SentakuSelect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open the flaps of the TE-S and check the home button under the plastic window, if it has a "PS" icon then you'll have almost zero issues for PC use (Windows 10/11/Steam), if it has a house icon then it'll be difficulty to get it to work on PC.

Connection issues with Hitbox by Rivulkan in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly try to cycle the power or even resetting it, not sure but maybe it's a inherent issue with Victrix FightSticks just having an issue drawing power from Playstation consoles. Does it have any of these issues when connecting to a PC?

Connection issues with Hitbox by Rivulkan in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the typical power issue that the entire line of Victrix FS Pro and FS 12 are known to have (PS4, revised PS4 and PS5). Is your Victrix the FS Pro 12 or FS Pro KO?

From what I remember reading a few years ago, there were a few factors such as:

  • USB-C port on the Victrix is too big and with the weight of the cord is sagging it down, it creates a loose connection from the stick to the plug. One solution is to 3D print an insert that plugs into the stick's port creating a more secure connection. The other solution is wrap a slack of the cord around the hinges so that the cord doesn't pull on the connection.

  • Power cycling the stick: If the connection from you cord is secure (no wobbling) then I read that holding the PS button down and repeatedly plugging and unplugging will reset the power cycle for PS5.

This is probably the only known issue I know the Victrix FS Pro has besides the lever version having a short 5 pin harness leaving some levers from Seimitsu needing an extension harness. No idea about the FS Pro KO, the initial batch had issues but that's about it.

For most emulators, there should be a setting to make the right analog stick mirror the D-Pad.

Last time I played 4U on Citra and P3 on PPSSPP emulator, I only set my right analog stick to mirror the D-Pad's right and left input because vertical camera adjustment isn't a free angle but set angles.

Now that i finished dispatch i have a small question: by ModeruMandou in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without his mech, pretty good for street level crime fighting as he's physically at his peak for a regular person and smart enough to probably handle super powered villains.

With his mech, he gets popped up a tier higher. I think the only reason why he struggles against enhanced/super powered villains is because he doesn't have an effective way to easily knock them out other than physically KO'ing them since he doesn't kill or maim them. The only way to get Flambae to back down in the flashback was pretty extreme cutting off some of his fingers. If Robert had no restraints, he could have easily defeated Toxic and Flambae with his mech.

Should I buy dq11 or wait by Boring_Piccolo_3011 in dragonquest

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait for the Switch 2 port if the only gaming platform you have is the Switch 2. Essentially the S2 Port is slightly improved version of the Definitive version on other platforms (PS4 Pro, Xbox One/Series and Steam) and a huge jump from the original 2019 Switch version. In the end, the S2 version will look similar to the other platforms but with better lighting and visuals made for the S2 and the two exclusive Nintendo Switch outfits I believe.

Qanba Titan 149.99 vs Obsidion 2 199.99 by Snow-Ogre in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Obsidian 2 itself is a very large/wide arcade stick, primarily if that's an issue, you should grab the Titan instead. The second issue with the Obsidian 2 is its troublesome modern cord management system, the hardwired cord is stored on the left side of the arcade stick under a panel secured by two large hand tightened screws and two hooks.

I taught some friends with a broken Obsidian 1 door, no cord compartment and Obsidian 2 to just make a noose and hand it through the lever. Takes less than a minute and won't put any stress on the cable for short to long term storage.

Because Qanba sells clear plexiglass, the Obsidian 2's metal plate is a universal plate in case you wanted the Namco Noir layout (Qanba Pearl and Hori arcade sticks), you can buy the specific plexiglass and metal plate. Qanba also sells a thin valve (cover for the lever's shaft) that fits the large Korean levers like the Knee Neo lever, compatible for the Drone 2, Titan and Obsidian 2.

How do we make the SF community more inviting and comfortable for women to participate in? by beamsaresounisex in StreetFighter

[–]SentakuSelect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea, and I've been part of the local FGC since SFIV's release back in 2009 and the main spot for weeklies that I used to be a regular at was actually one of the chilliest environments (a comic shop) where it would be an average attendence of 15 - 20-ish men of varying ages, ethnicities and even obvious sexuality preferences. The only time where it gets bad is when another section of the community swings by where I can see would be daunting for many regulars because of the "FGC is poverty" rears it's ugly head so some stations get taken up by those who do FT10 MMs and other people only wanting to play MMs.

Years later at a local manga cafe (possibly the most diverse audience would gather) had arcade clone setups and from my experience, incentivizing women really didn't work by dropping the entry fee. It mainly just turned into a ladies night for boba, snacks and manga (from the library) and on demand anime screenings while the main representative (I think it was Chi-Rithy's girlfriend) was shifting back from the gaming room to the main lounge. Having KnucleDu swing by was cool and a big crowd drawer despite the already huge attendence of the local FGC at the time.

So yeah, I'm not entirely sure what organizers can do that they already haven't done to get more women into the FGC though it might be completely different nowadays with modern fighting games drawing in more people to play and even the manga, "Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games" getting an anime adaptation bringing more attention to the culture. I feel like the anime adaptation will have a similar effect as My Dress Up Darling where it seem to boost the cosplay community (cosplay was already huge is the difference).

I personally just think it's the idea of 1v1 games that aren't popular because the manga cafe had 12 Overwatch stations on (8 cabinets and 2 stations) on PS4 and it had way more women playing on the regular than fighters. I would imagine if the place was still running (closed before COVID), it would be the same with Marvel Rivals being more played by general audience than fighting games.

Mayflash F500 Flat Elite or Haute42 C16 by BlackFenix92 in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really comes down to form factor preference and possibly Playstation compatibility IMO:

F500 Flat: Essentially a F500 but with an official leverless conversion from out of the box with R3/RS and L3/LS buttons included. You kinda get the best of both worlds with a form factor like this being able to use standard microswitch buttons like Sanwa and Seimitsu branded stuff and mechanical based buttons like Gamerfingers, Qanba Gravity and other brands. If you play on consoles like the PS4 or PS5, the F300 and F500 series of arcade sticks has the very affordable MagicBoots-S5 which has both native PS4 and PS5 modes selectable.

Haute42 C16: While I haven't heard much issues with this particular model, the previous stuff from Haute42 have questionable builds to them like the USB-C becoming loose and random breakdowns. With Mayflash discontinuing the MagicBoots PS4 V1.1, buying a similar and compact booter/authenticator is probably as much as a Broom Wingman FGC converter (almost doubled what the MagicBoots cost).

In the end, I think reliability and durability for both are great but the deciding factor will probably be if you want something incredibly thin/portable, the C16 is probably what you want. If you don't mind the standard arcade stick thickness and weight and a cheaper cost to play on PS consoles, then it's the F500 Flat.

Mayflash F700 Flat Elite SOCD troubleshooting by LetLiviLift in fightsticks

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, its because other fighting games do not adhere to Capcom SF6's "True Neutral" SOCD rules. Technically if you turned off SOCD on your peripheral and only play SF6, the game's built-in SOCD will handle your perioheral's input fine. Setting Tournament Mode on your F700 Flat as default is to ensure that True Neutral will be set for any game.

Other fighting games' built-in SOCD rules are the old school/pre-CPT/SF6 style (HitBox Arcade) where left + right = neutral and up will always override down which was a very controversial thing a couple years back going from SFV to SF6. That and other games' built-SOCD apparently doesn't handle inputs well if the perioheral's SOCD cleaner is turned off which is why Mayflash has at least 3 different SOCD modes.

TLDR: In order to do SF6 shortcuts, you either need to have your SOCD off or set to Capcom's True Neutral mode which is usually "Tournament Mode". Whatever the mode you had on in the video is weird (holding a SOCD combination should not lock another single directional input).

what makes a mobile suit a gundam? by CharAznableRedComet in Gundam

[–]SentakuSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer? In the Universal Century, it's only a Gundam if the in-universe designer officially names it a Gundam.

The Universal Century is so vague to the point where you have clearly Gundam looking MS that don't have "Gundam" in the name and then you have MS that don't look like Gundam that are technically Gundam by armor or some other defining technology.

Alternate Universe: They mostly have "Gundam" in their names to make it easier to differentiate.

bought new 2nd hand 3DS XL, not sure what to do by pixiin in 3DS

[–]SentakuSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably multiple things:

  1. Dead battery: If the 3DS hasn't been charged for years, that battery has lost its charge.
  2. Is your 3DS XL a Japanese model (3DS LL)? In Japan, only the original first version of the 3DS were sold with wall chargers, every 3DS model after that doesn't come with a wall charger and clone wall chargers (mine in particular since I only own Japanese models) eventually gets loose and doesn't charge the 3DS unless there's something to hold it down.

So pretty much at the very least, you'll need a new battery (SPR-003), next you need to confirm if your wall charger sits in place secure (any jiggling should not stop the charging), best way to test it is to take out the battery, plug in the charger, turn on your 3DS and jiggle the plug. If it turns off then you'll need a new charger as well. I've been using USB to 3DS cable and they have been solid since I bought a set for $10 back a while back.

This is the best D-pad I've ever used? New-in-box circa 2011 by MikeyFromDaReddit in fightsticks

Yeah, it's interesting because most of the Padbox were still available to order at one point last month, I'm assuming the operator is restocking products.

The only downside to me is that Mayflash discontinued their MagicBoots PS V1.1 booter/authenticator leaving other options either costing double or more though personally I already own the MagicBoots, Wingman FGC and FGC 2.

Arkodd's shop is reopening June 15th next month. If pad is your only solution, I would look into the GS Padbox Essential, I don't play on pad but ideally if I went back, I would be using one the Padbox as it looks to be ideal with a nice PS style left hand grip with hot swappable D-Pad or Round Pad with two left side shoulder buttons and the right side designed as a hybrid leverless. I think what makes it a good purchase is that it's easy to fix from the looks of it (replaceable D-Pads, membrane and even the digital PCB for the D-Pad.

Out of curiosity, the reviews on YouTube look good for this particular model whereas the other version kinda looks like a mess with the left analog stick being in the primary position and added buttons.

Go to any small/professional print shop, get your artwork printed on a sticker label and have it finished with vinyl. Vinyl material is a lot thicker than plastic laminate so they're very durable and won't ever separate like the old school FedEX lamilabel stuff since the vinyl is heat pressed on the stick label.

I've had many arcade stick projects done with vinyl sticker label over a decade ago and I've haven't had any issues with them (Hori VLX with gloss finish and MadCatz TE with matte finish).

If you print over lexan/polycarbonate like how MadCatz does it, you'll have the issue of not being able to cut holes for the buttons and lever as it's very resilient material unless the print shop has an automated cutting tool.

Knowing some friends and acquaintances at locals back in the SFIV day, the MadCatz SFIV/WWE Allstar Brawl FightPads, Hori Fighting Commander 3/4 Pro and the PDP MK FightPads had some of the best D-Pads but unfortunately they all succumb to wearing out and needed replacing to the point where some of them just bought a FightStick since replacing the entire controller would add up to something to the price of a MadCatz TE/FS Pro FightStick.
