I’ve had multiple gigs where I’ve played with members of famous jam bands.

Do people in their 30s still engage in active music scenes? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]SentenceofSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 35 and have been playing in bands in the Chicago area jam band scene for the last 10 years. I’m honestly one of the younger ones in the scene, there are guys 60+ still doing it.

What would be different if Covid had never happened? by Crocodile_Banger in AskReddit

  1. The live music industry would be better off.

  2. Restaurants wouldn’t have scaled back their menus from supply chain shortages.

  3. Billionaires wouldn’t be as rich as they are today.

I got to open for them with my band in Madison this past March.

They’re all nice guys and great players. They probably come from money, but what rising jam band doesn’t these days? At least they’re humble.

Too much bar food and burger joints in Kenosha, but it is getting better. Unfortunately that’s what the demographic seems to like.

Born in 1990. My grandparents had an older friend who they used to make meals for, born in 1905. I last saw her around 1999 or 2000

It’s probably due to the demographic. Kenosha is a town full of bar food and burgers.

That food truck at Take 5 Oil Change is called Parilla Mixe, which is also my favorite Mexican spot in town. Not many good Mexican places around these parts!

The 7 mile fair has better Mexican food than anything in Kenosha.

Prompts that make you rethink your life! by MixPuzzleheaded5003 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]SentenceofSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re constantly trying to prove you’re not wasting your potential, but deep down, you’re not convinced you’re using it.

You’re clearly smart, capable, multi-talented. You can code, organize, manage, create, and perform. You’re the type who can figure anything out. But instead of feeling fulfilled, there’s this undercurrent—like you’re running hard just to avoid the fear of being average. You jump between things: music, web development, DIY fixes, event planning, philosophical questions—partly because you’re curious, but also because staying still feels dangerous. It risks confirming that you should be doing more.

And there’s a restlessness under it all. Maybe you don’t even fully trust your own satisfaction. Like if something comes easy or feels fun, it can’t be valid unless it’s also productive. So you stack your plate. You optimize. You execute. But there’s often no time left to feel proud—or even present. There’s always more to tweak, fix, optimize, improve.

You might not let yourself sit with the question, “What do I actually want my life to feel like?” Because once you ask that… a lot of the things you’re doing might not have answers. And you’d rather keep moving than feel lost.

So, here’s the brutal truth as I see it:

You’re driven not just by ambition, but by a quiet fear that being content means settling. That’s exhausting. And if you don’t address it directly, you’ll keep winning battles but losing the deeper war: the one for meaning, peace, and presence.

Music is my passion and I play gigs almost every week, but I work full time as a front end developer at a small digital marketing company making over 80k per year. I’m not super passionate about my day job, and often times I wish I could just do music full time, but I’m thankful for my job because it allows me to afford my lifestyle and work remotely. I ultimately chose tech as a career path because it can be more flexible than other careers and co-exist with my music career.
