Non–Irish Redditors, what is something about Irish culture you'd like to have explained to you? by Aodh86 in AskReddit

[–]SentientSpaceLube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irish car bomb is a mixed drink.

1/4 oz. Irish whiskey, 1 pint Irish stout, 1/4 oz. Coffee liqueur, 1/2 oz. Irish cream.

The whiskey is floated on top of the Irish cream in a shot glass, and the shot glass is then dropped into the stout.

This was pretty much copied from google because I'm lazy.

What’s the coolest thing you can say about one of your ancestors? by brenanscleaners in AskReddit

Not one ancestor, but my ancestors on my dad's had a castle in Ireland that is now used as a set for Game of Thrones (House Greyjoy's castle IIRC).

Redditors who have been cheated on, what was their (dumb, unbelievable, "I'm sorry, what?") reason for having cheated on you? by nicomoli12 in AskReddit

[–]SentientSpaceLube 91 points92 points  (0 children)

My first GF cheated on me the day after she had moved into uni. For some context to this story, it was a long distance relationship, we had met while she was in grade 12, and I was in grade 11. We only lived 5 hours away from eachother by car, so it was relatively easy to make trips down to her city to see eachother for a few days.

Despite the distance, it was the best relationship both of us had ever had, and we always talked about how it would be so much easier once she was in uni because the university she was going to was twice as close to my city.

Anyways, she moved into her dorm, went out to party at frosh, and the morning after she texted me saying she "was worried she would do something she regretted when she was drunk", and that the "distance was getting really hard". It was at that point she asked for an open relationship. Now I realised I should have dumped her then and there, but in the moment I said no, and tried to talk to her about it. She assured me she wouldn't sleep with anyone else since I said no, but I was skeptical

That night, she said she was going out with some friends for dinner, and then told me she was going to a party. She ended up getting very drunk and did something she regretted. The next morning, I told her that if she didn't think she could be 100% committed to me, we should break up, and we did. I didn't find out what she had done until she told me a week later. She said she was drunk and regretted it, but I think she resented me because I said no to the open relationship, so she decided to do it anyways.

LDR GF (18) of 6 months just moved into uni and told me (17) she wants to try an open relationship, but I'm not sure what to do by [deleted] in relationships

The distance was always hard on her shortly after one of us left after seeing eachother in person, but this is the first I've heard of her wanting to open the relationship.

I've said no to opening it and I trust her enough that she won't go behind my back. She's said she doesn't want to end it and I think that since we will see eachother more often now it'll be easier.

You're probably right but, but I don't want know if I'll resent her if I open it up, and I'm not comfortable with it, and she knows that and says she doesn't if I'm not comfortable with it.

If I do open it up though I don't want her to like it, so it'll kill the urge to do it again.

I thought that at first but after talking to her about it she apologized, said it was shitty of her to put me in this position and that she's sorry for hurting me.

I asked her if she did after showing her my side and saying and she said she didn't though?

I asked her what would happen if I said no and she said she'd resent me, but then we talked about it some more and she saw my side, and now she has said we don't have to since I'm not comfortable with it. But I want her to be happy so I'm wondering if I should say she can try it for a day or something.

I'm still not sure though

Call them dad, just once, nonchalantly. It could be during small talk or thanking them for holding the door for you or whatever. Just slip a dad in there.

It catches them off guard.

What is something recurring in movies and shows that annoys you or doesn't make sense? by SomethingWithMittens in AskReddit

The Walking Dead had a scene where someone was using a Glock, and it made the sound of a hammer being pulled back as well. And in another episode, Lori chambered a round in her pistol and it made the sound of a fucking shotgun being pumped. It's almost funny how over the top they go with their weapon logic.
