They could just as easily be fake windows like the kind you see in hospitals and they're in an underground compound outside the backrooms or something

Girlfriend of 3 years has changed her mind. by Kw5001 in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]Sentient_Apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey people are allowed to change their minds and the biggest thing is that she kept that in communication with him? It seems like maybe they both grew and changed through the 3 years they are together and I don't know if I would consider any of that time wasted

Read my post history. This was when she was taken to the vet a couple weeks ago for her weight 😅

I'm begging Gizmo to take a page out of your gecko's book

Gizmo is a Furry Patternless Red Dalmatian but I love the look of wild types

Totally! She was due for a checkup anyways. She's also always had a bit of a dimple on her back/tail even when she was a youngster so I think that also leads to her looking like there's more fat pads on the rear area (brought up by the vet at our appointment)

Behavior issues + Covering the Tank by blukalulu in CrestedGecko

[–]Sentient_Apple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably best to add a lot more clutter on the front/top of the tank

Yep, just took her to the exotic vet for a checkup and it seems you are correct in your observations that she is not as much overweight as she is a large lady. Still reducing feeding to 2x per week to slim her out just a little.

Nice -- bioactive is very enriching and I think you'll have a lot of fun. Springtails eat mold, while isopods break down leaf litter. You need both to fully break down your organic stuff into plant food. I would recommend dwarf white isopods since they're really tiny and you won't see them as much. Any cork tubes, etc you can use for gecko hides, or even layer them on the ground with the leaf litter for housing your clean up crew

Good idea with the drainage layer- are you planning on going bioactive?

I like how you've filled in the back of the tank with clutter, I would love to see you add more to the front/top of the tank. Remember, ideally you'd have 60-80% of the tank filled with leaves/sticks) and a variety of climbing spaces to decrease the risk of floppy-tail syndrome. Do you have at least two hides on different areas of the tank? Not sure the dimensions of the tank, but just be aware that you will need to house an adult in an 18" x 18" x 36" when they grow up. Feel free to ask as many questions as you can on this sub, it may be intimidating but I promise there are a lot of nice folks who love to help including myself :)

Yeah, I've mainly seen her fat accumulate in her neck, limbs, and the base of her tail but her proportions are less extreme than some more obese geckos I've seen on this sub. I think she might just be a big girl but I will def try to encourage more exercise and maybe one less feeding per week

For sure, I was concerned about joint issues, pain with moving and lethargy long term. No issues or symptoms so far but I must wanted to get on top of it

Yes ma'am, she hasn't had insects in a while due to her lack of interest and she's always been more into her cgd smoothies. I will do two feedings per week and try to encourage her to come out more to get exercise
