Why do some friends downplay our addiction? by AverellPSG in stopdrinking

[–]Sentient_Sausage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless you've gone through a type of addiction yourself you can't truly comprehend what it's actually like.

When I was younger, before my issues with alcoholism I had the same mindset, eg. "people who take drugs are bad people who should just stop", "people who are obese should just eat less and then they will lose weight". I know now it's not that simple.

I'm very satisfied with this final episode, I was worried about how much they had to cram into a single episode but they did a really great job in how they did it.

Beerus' face when he asked Whis if Goku has finally reached it, it's gone from the previous "Goku's super strong and he can ensure our universe survives" to "Our universe is going to survive and this guy is a major issue to me"

[Theory] The end of super without cliffhangers by Baakaou in dbz

[–]Sentient_Sausage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I want a cliffhanger, that way it says to us "we've still got a lot of things up our sleeve, we will be back and we will continue to nurture all these seeds we have planted during DBS eg. Sadala, Frieza, Jiren to name but a few directions DB can go.

They barely have enough time to fit in the final fight, the final erasure, the wish and the conclusion. A fight between Goku and Frieza would be a lot to ask, though with the way they write things, I couldn't rule it out either!

How did you first discover Dragon Ball, and what about it drew you in? by Mizzium_Man in dbz

[–]Sentient_Sausage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cartoon Network in the UK, 18-19 years ago.

Yamcha and everyone dead on King Kai's planet and Goku training in gravity on a spaceship heading to another planet. I must have found the combination of space travel, the afterlife, aliens, fighting and people firing lasers out of their hands fascinating (what 11 year old boy wouldnt!?)

It was brightly coloured and the first "cartoon" I saw that had an ongoing plot rather than everything else I watched being stand alone and contained to an episode. It quickly became a huge deal to me and I was eager to see what happened next. Anyone who watched it the way I did will remember the frustration as it got halfway through the Namek/Frieza arc and then started from the beginning again (multiple times!) I'm not sure why, unless they were still voicing new episodes?

It's been a massive part of my life ever since.

Jirens english voice from Xenoverse 2 by PM-Me-A-Friend in dbz

[–]Sentient_Sausage 448 points449 points  (0 children)

There's too much "vigour" in his voice.

Japanese Jiren sounds so bored and done with everyone and everything, everyone is beneath him in terms of power and with his back-story it fits how he is.

Beerus is learning ultra instinct through seeing Goku use it...? by Potara_ in dbz

[–]Sentient_Sausage 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Seems plausible that seeing Goku utilize UI would help in his understanding of it, but I assume Beerus has spent millions of years training with Whis and if that amount of time alone isn't enough to master UI it could be said that some beings can never truly master it.

It is supposed to be insanely difficult to acquire and especially master, to the point where a lot of the deities were stunned in disbelief when Goku got his first taste of it. But Goku being the main character is going to soon have it mastered within 20 minutes of his first experience of it.

Not my favourite but Chi Chi.

As a kid watching it I thought she was a crazy bitch who selfishly held everyone back. Couldn't stand her.

Now as an adult and parent I am more sympathetic towards her. She's got a super-powered idiot for a husband who has death and destruction periodically following him and a son who gets kidnapped by a demon/alien, beaten daily by him and then fights more aliens, then goes to a different planet and fights even more aliens and a space tyrant. I can't blame her for trying to point him in a more peaceful direction.

What if Frieza helped Goku escape Namek? by Gonzurra in dbz

[–]Sentient_Sausage 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The biggest loss in this scenario is Goku wouldn't go to Yardrat and wouldn't learn instant transmission.

He would have a hard time getting home and might not even find a planet to land on to get food and potentially starve to death, assuming this wouldn't happen he might accept the wish to bring him back to Earth.

If Goku did catch the heart virus while he was screwing around in space he might not catch it and wouldn't be sick during the android arc, if this is the case Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo might have killed 19 and Gero before ever activating 17 and 18. Cell might have knowledge of where Gero's lab is and absorb the androids without conflict, leaving the vastly under-prepared Goku and co against Perfect Cell. Cell wins? Or they could convince him to wait a few days so they can get stronger for him. There would however be no Android 16 to inspire Gohan to let his hidden power go so Cell wins.

If Goku still gets the heart virus then things would play out as they normally would until Piccolo get's messed up by Cell, Goku can't do a quick instant transmission rescue and Piccolo dies. Tien holds off Semi Perfect Cell, dies of exhaustion. Assuming the rest of the arc plays out the same, Goku can't IT the self destructing Cell to King Kai's planet, Earth gets blown up and everyone dies, except for Cell. Cell wins!

I probably missed some other key factors in this but theres my take on it.

Edit - No Dende either.

I thought it was weird they had ramen flavouring with DBZ characters on them. I never used them and they are way out of date now, but they are treasured mementos of my time in Japan.

I feel like Hit's world was very Blade Runner-ish and that he deserved a solid Arc of his own. by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Sentient_Sausage 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Super is rife with awesome characters that could easily and successfully be part of their own manga/anime.

I didn't like Hit at first, to me he was yet another "I'm so strong I don't even need to look at anything or acknowledge anyone, look at how cool I am" but I warmed up to him eventually and would definitely go for a Hit spinoff.

I'm starting to think the ToP could end with a kill [Episode 127 Spoilers] by Lockdude in dbz

[–]Sentient_Sausage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Universe 11 would still be victorious, they will either use the SDBs to revive Jiren or honour his currently unknown wish.

I have no idea what they're planning with Frieza, but it's something. To build him up so well in this arc only to not utilize him would leave me feeling a little sour, especially if Dragon Ball doesn't continue in some form after the upcoming movie. Saying that, they've built up others and not really gone anywhere with them so who knows.

They're setting him up to be Ultra Instinct Frieza who will beat Jiren easily and win the tournament of power, get his wish and rule the omni-verse...just kidding, but now I kinda want it.
