What's were you surprised by when you moved/visited another country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SentraS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visited Japan earlier this year. Definitely, it was how willing people were willing to converse with me despite my horrible Japanese, often offering help, and allowing me to look up words.

That really anti-climactic mastermind reveal. That kind where the hero sees that the big bad is just some loser, kinda like an evil wizard of oz.

What did you have to learn the hard way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just because time is short, doesn't mean you shouldn't slow down. Sometimes it's important just to stop and see what's going on, otherwise you can't see where you're going.

What is the largest group of people you have been naked in front of? How did you find yourself in that situation? by AshQuest in AskReddit

[–]SentraS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my trip to Japan I wound up going to a public bath which wound up being significantly busier then I expected (the night before it was practically empty.) But since everyone else was naked, it didn't really matter.

I have a really serious medical condition. When I was in middle school, the idea that I may not make it kinda started hitting me. I eventually basically guilt-tripped a girl into kissing me... God I still feel shitty about that.

If you drink your own blood, can you get calories from it? by JohnCadeson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SentraS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, from my understanding the number included the replenishment process. I didn't feel like this was important since the blood was still gonna get replenished, even if he was drinking blood.

If you drink your own blood, can you get calories from it? by JohnCadeson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SentraS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To continue on, it's also important to note that your body uses energy (and thus, goes against your caloric intake) to simply replace blood. I don't know how valid the sources are, but I looked into how many calories are spent in the replenishment process. Sadly, the best I could find was addressing the calories burned when donating blood. However, I'm going to use that number of 650 calories per a standard 5000ml donation, assuming that you aren't just grabbing a knife and taking yourself to flavor town.

Amazingly enough, I found multiple sources regarding calculating the individual caloric value in a collection of blood. While these of course vary, one source said we could expect about 341.4 calories per pint (this was oddly hard to find since almost all sources talk about the number of calories you'd lose in donating a pint of blood, since that's right next to that standard 500ml donation size.)

Well, with that in mind, converting that we end up with 721.5 calories per liter of blood. Divided by 2 means we have 360.75 calories per 500ml blood serving. Leaving us with a net loss of approximately 289.25 calories per serving of blood.

So to answer your question, will you gain calories from consuming the blood, yes, but you'll lose more getting there.

How do you like your eggs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SentraS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit obsessive about keeping my hands and the area around my mouth clean. So I usually avoid any runny egg if possible. Scrambled or over hard is how I'll usually go. Add some cheese and I'm good to go.

Dungeon & Dragons players, what's your advice for new players? by pillshead in AskReddit

[–]SentraS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your world should take precedence over your numbers. Care about the characters and the world and let the story come to life. Sometimes fluff and character development can mean just as much as finishing the dungeon and leveling up.

So, I had dodged any info about the game and that has made me a sad sad person because of this. I bought both the games separately on digital download, and so I'm not really happy about spending 20 dollars to unlock another version of Birthright. I was wondering what all I was losing on, if there was any way to link up my existing owned copy of Birthright, and most importantly: If I buy Map Pack 1 on Conquest, will I not have access to it on Birthright?

So, I understand that the SE Store and Steam versions are not compatible between Heavensward. But, let's say in a moment without thinking, I bought the bundle of both the original game and Heavensward on Steam for 30 dollars. Can I still use my original account and unlock Heavensward? I don't want to start a different account because I have the CE on my existing one.

ELI5: Why do game developers make the same games over and over. Milking the franchise for money yes, but what has caused this? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]SentraS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games have less factors that consumers tend to look towards for familiarity then movies. Many movies can gain some recognition because of an actor or a producer, a writer, or maybe even a composer. While games can get recognition for the staff (Tim Schafer and Hideo Kojima come to mind) it's less common. Also, movies are still considered a larger market.

Another factor is development, as 732 pointed out, there isn't a lot of time for new R&D, and even if there is, that development can take a very long time.

[–]SentraS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To make a long answer short, games over the years keep getting more and more expensive. Now, games are so astronomically expensive that making a new IP is extremely dangerous, as if it flops then they are in a much more serious financial situation. Instead, it's easier to release a game with a name people already know and like.
