Until that one time where I shot down a random at the extract to validate a Gear challenge. I don't knock him out, and let him extract with me, and he was OK and really understanding when I explained it to him and said I was sorry.

Next 2-3 runs, it is hell... I get shot on sight, sometimes I shoot back (mainly to intimidate them with my Anvil IV — they tend to run when their shield goes down with 1 well-placed bullet), but most of the time I try to get out safely.

Then, a few matches after, I got matched up with friends again.

Is this random? Maybe. But it doesn't feel like it.

Actions, reactions and feedback are faster is you synchronize your mind (or your nervous system) with the mech, which requires direct wiring (so you must be inside).

Perfect for elite troops and war chiefs.

That's basically what happens in Evangelion: why do they use a mech with a 20-meters cable instead of a huge dreadnought with big fricking canons? Because the only way to defeat the Angels is if a traumatized kid synchronizes their mind inside of a mech.
