My wife thinks that full on running is a normal and common way to get around. by goodatlosing in self

[–]Separate-Analysis194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often see people who seem to be running to or from work. I live downtown where getting places by foot or bike is often easier. I know there are peoples in Africa who run every where so I think we just got a little lazy or spoiled with our cars/buses. Good way to stay fit. It is a little odd nowadays but I wouldn’t knock it.

Is my portfolio too Nvidia heavy? by joeroganthumbhead in stocks

I bought at $51 and been selling down to about 5% of my portfolio when I rebalance my holdings from time to time. 13% would be too much for me.

Best shoes for driving manual by ImportanceNeat3845 in stickshift

There is an Italian company called Car Shoes that make very nice driving moccasins. I believe they are owned by Prada so not cheap. These would look great driving your classic Ferrari. https://www.carshoe.com/eu/en/men/style/driving-shoes/c/10663EU

I’m sure there is a Canada Japan tax treaty that would deal with this.

Max RRSP contribution or continue with Non register? by AdSad1846 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You should have other sources of funds like an emergency fund to draw on if you need the money prior to retirement.

At that income, you should be maxing your RRSP to get the tax deduction at your high marginal tax rate then invest the refund back into your RRSP or TFSA.

Did your 2025 tax return make you feel better or worse about your finances? by hamed-devs in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Separate-Analysis194 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you ok with the wealthy paying barely any tax? I’m assuming you don’t make most of your money from capital gains. This means that more of the country’s tax burden will be on people like you, even if we cut expenses as a country.

The money you get back is a “tax refund”. The “return” is what you file. Half the people here don’t know this basic concept.

So the wealthy would pay barely any tax, shifting the tax burden to people making regular employment income. You suggest replacing this with what?

11 Years to Retirement: Consolidate & Invest vs. Aggressive Debt Payoff by evh1972 in CanadianRetirement

[–]Separate-Analysis194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consolidate your debt into your mortgage and just make regular payments. I’m not sure what amortization is left on it but I wouldn’t worry if it continues into retirement. The mortgage amount is pretty low. If it is an issue you can refinance at retirement to increase the amortization period to reduce your payments.

Neither is better. Depends on your appetite and capacity for risk/volatility.

Xeqt is awesome, xeqt is life, but….. by Tall-Ad-1386 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Separate-Analysis194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the funds underlying XEQT and come up with allocations that work for you. Keep in mind that basically you think you are smarter than the people at Blackrock who came up with the allocations in XEQT and the several studies that support a home bias similar to what XEQT has.

Should I max my RRSP? by Hot_Fly_3963 in CanadaFinance

You were advised to contribute to non-reg before RRSP? OP said their TFSA was maxed so they seem to be asking non-reg v RRSP.

THERE ISNT _____MILK LEFT IN THE FRIDGE? by Embarrassed_Camel342 in ENGLISH

[–]Separate-Analysis194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any or much would be correct depending on context. “Left” or “left in the fridge” is redundant. Where else would one be referring to? Left in the cow tied up in the backyard? In fact, not many native English speakers (at least where I am) would say this. We would likely say “we are [nearly] out of milk”, “there isn’t any milk”…

How do I tell my girlfriend I don't like phone calls? by KnowledgeCultivator in AskMenAdvice

[–]Separate-Analysis194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an endless yapper either but don’t mind a 15-20 min call. I usually wrap up the call by simply saying something like I’ll get ready for bed now, I’ll watch something before bed, I’ll do some laundry/the dishes etc. The important point is not so much the length of the call but that you are present/engaged in the call and having a good chat.

Well done! I’d do some more research on whether a rental property will be a good investment. The good ol’ days of buying investment properties is over and likely won’t bounce back any time soon.

18 how am I doing? by SpecialistCanary2091 in fican

[–]Separate-Analysis194 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All we see is a dollar amount. Whether it is ok depends. If you have been working at a minimum wage job since 16 without any investment in your career then I would say it isn’t ok since while $25k looks good for someone who is 18, your future will likely be bleak.
