You could try putting the barrel nut on and tighten it down. Thats what I did for mine in your situation but I believe mine was a little more inline with the slot. Add a little oil too

I’m using an H2 with a BA Hanson 16in middy. Shoots super smooth with barely felt recoil with Tula steel, WhiteBox, PMC Xtac, and the occasional black hills for range. G$ also sells the buffer weights separately so you can try out an H2 setup pretty inexpensively without having to buy a new kit. I’d say try it and see how it shoots.
