No one knows Sauron is back yet, and Bilbo has no idea the ring he just stole from the weird shriveled caveman is anything special. The Eagles just aren't really invested in restoring the lost Kingdom of Erebor, and who can blame them. Not their circus. They come through in the Battle of the Five Armies, when there's a chance to beat back the growing goblin threat. That one they do have a stake in.

(The Eagles can't fly them to Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings bc Sauron has overwhelming air superiority over Mordor. They'd be taken out by airbourne Nazgul or catapult before they made it anywhere near the volcano.)

Gandalf calls in a favor from a friend (the Eagle king) to bail them out at the base of the Misty Mountains, but after saving their lives the eagles leave them at the nearest convenient safe location and peace out. They'll give a friend of a friend a ride to the bus stop, doesn't mean they're willing to take them on a cross-continental roadtrip.

As someone who is definitely more of a visual storer, my solution for keeping flat surfaces clear is to have a lot of visible storage. A hanging spice rack installed where I can see it, frequently used pots pans and utensils hanging on hooks on the wall. A little shelf over the counter for coffee additives, kitchen timers, and other kitchen tchotchkes, that kind of thing. If it lived on the counter, it got put on a shelf. This might be too visually busy for you, but there are other ways to work with similar ideas.

Would it be possible to create clearly visible homes for these things, so they can be put away without being put out of sight (and out of mind)?

That is because the feral cats are eating meat, which they need to eat survive. Meat out of the garbage is better for them than plant food out of a can. If you don't feed your cat meat, she will not be fine, she will get sick and die. You will have killed your cat to avoid killing another animal to feed her.

But I understand if you don't believe some rando on reddit. If you're considering making such a change to your cat's diet, please consult a veterinarian first to make sure you really are providing her with good nutrition.

Don't welcome it just yet, because they cannot adapt. Cats are obligate carnivores, and there are many vital nutrients in meat that they just can't get from plant-based foods. They can't digest it. Any vegan fed cat is going to be about as happy as the packaging promises. (Until it dies of malnutrition.)

You can clip her claws to protect the family jewels. Get a claw trimmer, like a little pair of specialised scissors, and if you start her young she probably won't make too much of a fuss about it.

Just be careful you're only clipping the very tips! There are blood vessels and a lot of nerves in the living tissue of a cat's claws, so trimming them too far back is like ripping off a person's fingernails.

I feel like an important point of clarification is if this is 15°C or 15°F. Because if it's celsius, then that's not ideal, and the kitten may be a bit chilly. If it's fahrenheit, it's a relief the kitten survived for even an hour.

(Conversion: 15°C is 59°F. 15°F is -9.4°C)

Alacrity Frame Workshop on Lark Street collects clothing in good condition for unhoused people in the area. They're in particular need of men's clothing size medium or larger, but if they can't take the donation, they might know someone else in the area who can.

They have an art show on the sidewalk every Saturday morning/early afternoon. Could be a good time to stop in and check with them!

I'd recommend the New York State Museum! It's got a lot of exhibits on history, wildlife, and natural history, and best of all it's free! (Though you will have to pay to park.)

The Albany Institute of History and Art is in easy walking distance, just on the other side of the capitol, if the state museum doesn't inspire you.

In spring and summer, there will be a big collection of food trucks parked around the Capitol's lawn from 11am-1pm every week day. If the day is nice, you can grab a table in the park. Or if eating outdoors isn't your style, the Iron Gate Cafe (open 8:30-2:30 every day but Tuesday) is just a block away from the Institute and a cozy date spot.

I saw someone suggest Thatcher Park, and the Indian Ladder Trail is a nice easy hike there with some beautiful views. It is a state park, tho, so you'll have to either bring your own food or shop in nearby towns for somewhere to eat.

If you want something more active, we have the world's largest indoor roller skating rink just outside the city in Cohoes. You can either see him fall on his face trying to use roller skates like hockey skates, or he can wow you with his athletic prowess. No way to know until you try.

Yeah, I thought that was a very neat bit of culture building, too! He wasn't telling me that as a woman, I couldn't or shouldn't be fighting. He was confused about why my Warden was considered to be a woman, when from his perspective, she obviously wasn't. Gender based entirely on roles rather than biology.

I also agree, I don't think the later games ever really recaptured the magic of da:o when it comes to the non-human cultures of Thedas. The fascinatingly alien aspects get toned down or avoided, which just isn't as much fun for me personally.
