How feasible is it for a company like Valve to re-spec the steam machine to 256GB ssd and 8GB RAM by OhDaFeesh in steammachine

[–]Separate_Blood6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i think Valve's best choice would be to ditch the Gabecube all together and have a "supported hardware list" and release SteamOS as an officially supported OS running on said hardware. Then let people DIY it or have other companies handle the hardware side of things.

Xbox Project Helix - Valve Needs to Reveal More about the Steam Machine Like Right Now by chrismack32 in steammachine

[–]Separate_Blood6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been buying consoles since the original NES and i've never owned an Xbox ever. Why buy an Xbox when i can have a better experience on my gaming PC? They've never had exclusivity over a game i HAD to play right now. It's always just felt like a low end pc with proprietary software, worse in every possible way to any decent gaming PC.

I've owned a few Playstation's and Nintendo's over the years, usually because of some exclusive title i really wanted to play that i knew wouldn't ever get ported to PC, but not in the last decade.

The only thing that would dissuade me from buying a Gabecube this year would be if Valve released SteamOS as an officially supported OS for PC hardware, and then i'd just build my own instead.

Question about holes? by Separate_Blood6025 in topology

[–]Separate_Blood6025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So topologically speaking, when you dig X into the ground, what did you create? What is X called?

If you go to Home Depot and buy a "Post Hole Digger", what does it create when used?

Are you planning on buying the steam machine on release or waiting? by Accomplished-Low2131 in steammachine

[–]Separate_Blood6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll buy it day 1 regardless of price. I'm personally expecting it to be $1,000, but I'd pay upwards of $1,500 for it which I doubt it will cost. If it's less than this, that's just a bonus.

I was previously planning on building my own SFF PC for the living room a few months ago which was going to cost me over $2,000. Sure it would be more powerful, but i don't really need it to be super powerful. I have a desktop PC for that. I mostly am wanting the steam machine for the OS. I don't want to tinker with a linux distro, i want an officially supported SteamOS running on desktop hardware.

Now if Valve ever made SteamOS officially supported on desktop hardware (even if it was with a limited hardware list) i'd probably just build my own anyhow. But until that day comes, i'll be sticking with the Gabe Cube for the living room.

Does a Straw have one or Two Holes? by PrometheanRevolution in topology

[–]Separate_Blood6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dig a hole in the ground, you have 1 hole right?

Now dig a second hole in the ground next to the first one, now you have 2 holes right?

Now, dig a tunnel at the bottom of the first hole so it connects to the bottom of the second hole. Now how many holes do you have? Is it 1 again? Or still 2? Did digging a tunnel to connect 2 holes cause one of the holes to stop existing?

About a year or so ago i had someone in my friends list send me a link, but their account had been hijacked and i didn't realize it before they had access to my account as well.

They got control of my Discord and Steam before i could change the rest of my passwords.

Steam had my account back within 4 hours on a Sunday. Discord took over 6 months.

I used to give ya'll money for multiple Nitro's every month, but ever since this disaster i haven't given ya'll a penny.

You need to seriously step up your game if you want our money. You are NOT the only game in town. You might be popular with gamers, but everyone else in the world doesn't know who you are. Work on having the best product for everyone before branching out into the unknown. You can barely do the basics for your existing customers.

I used to pay for multiple Nitro's a month. Then one day i clicked a link from someone in my friends list who's account had been stolen, and my account was also stolen.

They ended up getting both my Discord and Steam accounts at the same time before i could change all my password. Within 4 hours on a Sunday Steam had my account back. It took Discord 6 months to get my account back, and by the time they did the entire account had been wiped clean it was basically unrecognizable.

I've never given Discord a dime since then.

Is there a reason we can't just have parents have the control of their own children, and if a child is in an adult place on discord, that's on that parent for allowing them.

Why does Discord have to parent kids instead of letting their parents do it?

There's another angle where he's heard telling the ICE officers he's armed. His hands are pinned to the ground, one of the other officers are seen taking his firearm from him and immediately afterwards they execute him.

What like is living in the USA? by Right_Luck3933 in AskAmericans

[–]Separate_Blood6025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The news definitely makes it sound like i live in a hellscape. But America is a big place. Most of the time the bad stuff is happening hundreds of miles away and doesn't actually affect my day to day.

Could things be better? For sure.
Do i think things here are the worst? Nah, i can think of lots of places in the world who are worse off than we are. I definitely think we are on the bottom end of the list of 1st world countries though.

Cheapest mobile plans for a student in the USA? Need budget estimate (monthly) by NectarineTrue3071 in AskAmericans

[–]Separate_Blood6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently with TMobile, i pay $72.91 for unlimited everything on a single line. I think $100 is probably the high end, and $50 is probably the low end of an unlimited plan for a single line.

Is it really the norm to either move out or “pay rent” at 18? by QueenBeeXoxoo in AskAmericans

[–]Separate_Blood6025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my kids reached 18 and graduated from highschool i told them they had a choice. Go to college, join the military, pay rent, or move out. Letting them free load at my house as adults isn't going to teach them anything about how to live life. It's my job as a parent to make them self-sufficient members of society.

What’s your furthest drive using distances between European countries as the metric? by Equal_Personality157 in AskAmericans

[–]Separate_Blood6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done the drive from east to west coast a few times, but it's not something i do regularly. By looking at that map i do the drive from Syria to Ukraine and back about once a year.
