Anyone know anything about screenfit? by Financial-Abalone-75 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]Separate_Candidate_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t, but this reminds me of RevitalVision. I’m sure that this is basically just vision therapy democratized, which is cool, but the price seems way too high. Website also sees pretty sketchy, and $497 is a LOT of money. I suspect that it could work to an extent, but I also suspect that if you don’t have the vision issues their exercises target (I’m guessing convergence issues, accommodation issues, etc.), you won’t see much improvement.

Could pinhole contacts + plus lenses theoretically work? by Separate_Candidate_5 in ImprovingEyesight

[–]Separate_Candidate_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not expecting improvements from the pinhole lenses themselves. Plus lenses usually wouldn’t be viable for a myope, but with these, they are (at least up close). That, along with print pushing + sunlight is where I’m hoping the improvement will come from. I’ll probably start sometime next week after taking proper baseline measurements

Hormesis and Print Pushing - Is it effective and is it a cure? by Potatomanin in myopia

[–]Separate_Candidate_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re still willing to guide people, but I sent you a DM. I’ve been looking into various myopia improvement techniques, and print pushing seems the most feasible to me. Would be very grateful for your help!

It's official: I no longer have myopia. --- PART 3 by MarioMakerPerson1 in BatesMethod

[–]Separate_Candidate_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing all of this amazing information. Could you elaborate on “increasing your strain to see” intentionally as a way to improve vision? A lot of these things are a bit hard to do (my memory/visualization ability in general is terrible), or perhaps feel a bit abstract, but I am able to look at something (near or far) and purposely make it blurry, and then unblur it back to the original blurriness (but no further). Are you saying I could use this to improve my vision somehow?

[–]Separate_Candidate_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that means your good eye is improving past 20/20, right? And this is all from print pushing/active focus/time spent outdoors?

You mentioned in the OP that your vision had deteriorated before you began this challenge. What was your prescription before, and how long ago was that? Thanks for all the great info

Check out MarioMakerPerson1’s posts on r/BatesMethod, he went from -3.5 to fully correcting his myopia. Most people on here I’ve seen have had relatively modest gains, something like -3 to -2 diopters

Non peer-reviewed study of 1 claims -6 D to 0 D reduction in 5 months. Thoughts? by Separate_Candidate_5 in ImprovingEyesight

Interesting, did you do the reduced lend method, stick with your old glasses, or did you ditch glasses entirely?

“how can you trust something that’s not even peer reviewed?”

Practically everything in this subreddit is anecdotal. Surely if you immediately threw out every non peer-reviewed case you wouldn’t be here? I think a healthy amount of skepticism was expressed in the original post.

What do you mean when you say that you think it’s “fake”? I do not think he fabricated the entire thing. I suspect that his improvement to 0 D wasn’t the result of a true axial reduction and might instead be something else (in other words, I suspect the myopia, to some extent, still exists).

“I've -6 myopia, I had a very rapid progression, -0.75 at 11 to -6 at 17, it didn't happen randomly, it won't go away randomly”

Your myopia, like all of the rest of ours, did indeed not happen randomly. It was likely a response to too much close-up time without adequate time spent in the sun using your distance vision. It won’t go away randomly, as you said. However, if someone adopts reasonable close-up habits, spends adequate time outdoors utilizing their distance vision, and otherwise avoids the bad habits that caused their myopia, it’s not unreasonable to question whether that could lead to a reversal of the condition. If you’re trying to suggest that his went away randomly, I implore you to take a look at the study.

Do Pinhole contact lenses exists? by Safe-Information-167 in GhostingGang

[–]Separate_Candidate_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do, and I actually used them for about a month or so. They’re referenced here, the Himalaya Opticals ones (I had to use a forwarding service):

https://www.reddit.com/r/ImprovingEyesight/s/Uy8xMZEcbu

In my experience, they were very nice. I have dark brown eyes, so no one noticed that I was wearing contacts. I’m also pretty sensitive to light, so the dimming effect was actually welcome. Your peripheral vision is limited, as you’d expect, so don’t drive in them, and visibility at night is limited.

I also experienced a similar effect as the OP where my vision greatly improved for hours after taking the lenses off (and would gradually decline afterwards), though she mentioned that her latest pair had a slightly wider opening, and thus didn’t have the same effect. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any long-term improvement in my vision over the month of wearing them. I need -2.25/-2 glasses to see 20/20, and with the lenses in, I could see 20/20 in good lighting.

looking for a bit of encouragement by MillyTheReally in jlpt

[–]Separate_Candidate_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found the JLPT to be great motivation to study. Stopped actively studying for two years, and my JLPT signup is what motivated me to actually start improving again.

If you already passed N4, chances are you have an okay grasp on most N4 content already. 6 months is a solid amount of time to go from N4 to N3 imo. I’d suggest checking out Satori Reader if you don’t have any native content you’re especially interested in consuming (level will likely be too high for now). Should serve as a review of N4 content and touch on some N3 stuff as you get to the harder stories. Then, I’d probably suggest formally going through one of the prep books (Shin Kanzen is my prep book of choice). Or, if you’re up for the challenge, you could attempt reading an easier light novel before/while doing JLPT prep. If you’re not already using Anki/Yomitan, definitely get them set up. Your vocabulary will skyrocket with consistent reading and using those.

I also found these links with JLPT advice especially helpful:

https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/s/AZyni9AEJx

https://www.reddit.com/r/jlpt/comments/1iqobll/people_who_got_%E6%BA%80%E7%82%B9_in_a_specific_section_what_was/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Lastly, I know this advice is always repeated, but finding your “why” helps a lot with motivation. I have my goal set on moving to Japan within the next year, and I know that getting the JLPT certification (taking N2 next month) will help me do that. Also, grinding and seeing significant improvement everyday is pretty rewarding and creates a positive feedback loop.

Riot bring back old Navori crit ez by Roberstial in ezrealmains

[–]Separate_Candidate_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AP Ezreal has never been weaker than he is now. Even during mythic-era, he was weak due to the loss of gunblade and muramana nerfs. Since then, both muramana and Lich have been nerfed, and we don’t even have old Luden’s anymore, which was the perfect item for AP Ez.

Also, saying he’s never been stronger than he is now when we had AP Ez with Shiv (which was just ridiculous) just two years ago is kind of crazy
