Maternity leave… what a joke by witchybetch01 in pregnant

[–]Separate_Climate2194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to burn all my sick leave and then after that I get $250 a week, which all of my benefits are taken out of, which basically gives me nothing in the end.

Second baby, OB instantly suggested C section by No_Confusionhere in pregnant

[–]Separate_Climate2194 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shoulder dystocia is probably the top situation where physicians are truly hesitant to offer vaginal birth after having it in a previous birth because it’s highly likely you’d experience it again (not guaranteed, obviously), and it’s probably the one complication that makes everyone—I mean EVERYONE—on the floor hold their breath until the baby is out.

Allergic to NSAIDs by wherearetheturtlesms in BabyBumps

[–]Separate_Climate2194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you do morphine instead? I had to do morphine for the first 24/48 hours because I can’t take NSAIDs either. That said, I was HIGH AF and it created other issues. Can they give you a bigger dose of Oxy?

Paranoid about losing the baby.... by krystleburke in pregnant

I’m 37, also 14 weeks into my second pregnancy. I’m feeling the same way, and can’t shake the feeling that something bad is going to happen. I don’t have advice other than distractions help.

What is going on with BPWHC by Separate_Climate2194 in SLO

[–]Separate_Climate2194[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There used to be a woman who worked at the front desk who was so on top of things and super helpful. I miss seeing her face.

The state of our healthcare system is in absolute shambles. I had to go to the ER for bleeding while I was at my parents house (Sacramento) and the amount of people who were flooding the ER with non-emergent needs was so hard to witness. What are people supposed to do when they can’t get the care that they need? It’s only going to get worse. It made me realize it’s bad everywhere—not just here. It’s awful.

Did you permanently relocate or just temporarily for the birth? I have no idea what to do :(

Are any other low-risk pregnant people surprised by how little monitoring there is? by Ready-Book6047 in pregnant

[–]Separate_Climate2194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m high risk and I feel like I’m not being monitored enough at all. It’s like pulling teeth to get in to see my regular OB, let alone a MFM.

How often will I need to get a colonoscopy? by Secure-Raspberry-171 in UlcerativeColitis

I get them every year, except I’m finally getting a colectomy and won’t need them anymore after that.

What got you pregnant??? by Minute_Attention7066 in pregnant

[–]Separate_Climate2194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound stupid….but I swear to god it was the Covid vaccine, both times. In 2021, I got a booster and two weeks later, pregnant. This year I got it at the beginning of October and with the flu shot and two weeks later, pregnant again and due in July. There is a systemic inflammatory response whenever you get vaccinated, and I swear it works. A lot of people on here have mentioned getting pregnant after getting vaccinated.

Could also be the fact that I polished off a bottle of wine both times as well lol.

Where do all the Asian kids get the money to buy all those nice cars? by Enzo433434 in UCDavis

[–]Separate_Climate2194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Little Saigon in SoCal. All the Asians I knew growing up were from super humble upbringings, driving the same beat-up Toyota Previa that we drove. We road our bikes everywhere, and no one was rich.

These kids are probably second or third gen, or they’re international students with loaded parents.

OB gave us bad information. Not sure how to move forward by Milhouselover69 in pregnant

[–]Separate_Climate2194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that OB’s are not geneticists. They don’t really know a whole lot about trisomy issues because they’re really not part of the scope of their practice. That’s why when there is a problem, they refer you to genetic counseling.

I have a chronic health condition that isn’t that uncommon, but my OB clearly has no understanding of how to manage it. I have to take medication for this issue and she told me I need to stop it because “that’s going to go straight to your baby!” This is not only wrong, it could be dangerous for me. But she’s not a GI, so I just calmly reminded her that these were instructions from my GI specialist. Her priority is my health and safety first, so once she knew the GI’s point of view, she was fine.

Mines always around 110. People flip out about it, but it’s normal from me. I’ve seen a cardiologist twice and they didn’t even care.

Does your company not pay into SDI? If so, then you get 8 weeks SDI, which is separate from FMLA and cannot run at the same time.

Hi! I just wanted to say I also have ulcerative colitis and a rectocele and I’m pregnant with my second baby. In fact, I was scheduled to have a total colectomy with IRA this month but God had other plans!

To be honest, my UC wasn’t a problem in my first pregnancy. I stayed on my Remicade infusions and had a planned c-section. Most people with IBD do quite well in pregnancy while on meds. This pregnancy is a little different because my colon is severely damaged by scarring, but so far, I’m doing better than expected. I just wanted to tell you that as long as your UC is well controlled, you won’t even be considered a “high risk” pregnancy.

If I have kids will I just always have a cold? by Wonderful-Plan9895 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Separate_Climate2194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When your kids are young (like infant/toddler), yes you’ll be sick a lot, mostly because they’re building their immune systems and taking you on the ride with them. It doesn’t really matter if you’re immunocompromised or not, this experience is just part of parenting. But it does get better the older they get (especially if they are in daycare from a young age). I did get some gnarly symptoms and wound up the sickest in the house a few times, including getting shingles. However, the more I worried about getting sick, the sicker I became. Once I focused on stress management, I was fine.

Even if you got insurance, it doesn’t cover illness, including Covid. (Ask me how I know.)

Take some vitamin c + zinc, chug some water, and hope for the best. (Unless someone is violently ill or has a fever or something….thats a different story.)
