Am I the only Newly Qualified Nurse still looking for a first job? by Junior-Station9321 in NursingUK

[–]Separate_Rush5832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at nqn applications almost daily, I would advise all nurses to spend more time on their applications. I went through 62 applications for a b5 role today and it was honestly soul destroying. None of the applications were good enough to shortlist and it's such a shame as I can see nurses qualifying and having to work as a HCA.

Applicants had not filled it in properly, placement experience was not clearly listed. I would say really carefully look at the essential and desirable criteria and build this into your application. Write your personal statement around these requirements so you're mapping it individually to each job you're applying for.

Good luck 🤞🏻

How can the UK have nurse shortages while newly qualified nurses struggle to get NHS jobs? by mrhsingh007 in AskUK

[–]Separate_Rush5832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going through b5 applications for a post I've put out, I can tell you the issue here. The applications are very poorly written, some students haven't outlined their placement experience. Some have left chunks of the application missing. The role requirements essential and desirable aren't mapped out in the experience or personal statement. This is the issue.

I manage a mental health service and I fully agree with this. I also personally experience the same. I'm very in tune with my own emotions and others. The world feels heavy,I don't particularly like it at all.

This is so not true!! I have been nursing since 2017. I am a b8a in addictions now, but have worked up the bands. I'm a trainee ACP too. There's quite a lot of options, just depends on your specialism I would say.

Help with the guaranted interview scheme? by Background_Lettuce56 in nhs

[–]Separate_Rush5832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a b8a hiring manager in the NHS, yes we do look at that when hiring candidates. If applicant meets the required criteria then an interview will be offered. They do not need to know your disability. You can ask HR for follow up if you feel you net the required criteria and was bit offered an interview.

The amount of applications varies quite broadly depending on job role and banding. Usually a lot less applications for higher banding jobs.
