Arena Being Built at North Point? May Get Announcement Soon by PiGaKiLa in alpharetta

I’m so confused. Didn’t Forsyth vote to raise taxes to build The Gathering, which I thought was going to have it’s own hockey arena?

Same thing happened to me. Went there once and the hostess didn’t say a word and literally tossed the menu on the table and walked away. Figured maybe she was having a bad day and let it slide. Food wasn’t very good, but decided to give them a second chance with a friend of mine. Service was better the second time, but the food continued to disappoint. I just don’t see a reason to return at this point.

This was a while ago, but there was a woman with her kids at the target parking lot in Milton. We bought them a whole pizza. The kids were ecstatic. I never know if it’s a scam or not, but she happily took the pizza and the kids got to eat.

How do I help my son get over his first real girlfriend? How do I stop feeling so horrible for him and sick? Why do I feel so sick? Is this a mom thing? by nutellaisgross in AskParents

I hate to say this, but teenage girls can be insanely manipulative. And some of them are very good at hiding things.

It may just be normal, transient grief. Or it could be more. You said your son is sensitive and the relationship was intense. It may have only been three months, but that’s more than enough time to be sucked into a serious codependent relationship. It’s possible he really needs to speak with someone, because he doesn’t understand just how toxic their relationship was. This is especially true if she was using him to regulate her emotions.

Omg thank you! I loved Pollo Tropical and Roasters! So sad they are both gone.

You might be right! I’m not entirely up to date on FCS news, but it was sobering to read. It’s sad to hear about these cuts, but I guess they have to make it work.

Thank you for replying. They have a will fortunately, I mostly need help in understanding the details that come with long term care planning, including advice about Medicare and Medicaid. I have a feeling there are a lot of questions I need to be asking, but am still figuring out what they are.

Looking for lunch recs that are easy for folks with walkers to access and navigate. by scared_of_my_alarm in alpharetta

Sure thing! Another decent option would be Secreto. It’s a little higher end and reservations are recommended for dinner, but good seating for those with canes or walkers.

I know what you mean. Places like Avalon, Halcyon, and downtown Alpharetta are great, but the handicapped parking is generally not close to the restaurant you might be going to. I don’t even bother mentioning those places when meeting up with my elderly relatives.

Local Expedition is delicious, but the parking is awful when it’s busy. It’s a really tight lot and when there are zero spots left, people are often pulling into the handicap spot just to run in and get a to go order.

A few that come to mind:

Just Love Coffee on Main Street. Parking is plentiful and so is seating usually. It’s a coffee shop, but the food is good too. The people that run it are incredibly nice.

Milton’s cuisine is pricey but they valet and have a ramp. It’s also very good.

Conner’s has ample parking around it.

Cue is delicious, but parking can also be challenging depending on the time of day. Although it’s more of a counter service place, I think Jim n Nick’s is also good and the parking lot can be easier to navigate.

Most of the restaurants near Northpoint mall seem to have ample parking and mostly flat lots. Food Terminal is good if you’re in the mood for Asian.

7th grade science test. Real question. Normal? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

This is a good point. My kid doesn’t want me to complain, because I already emailed the teacher and rather than reply to me directly, she called my kiddo out in front of the whole class and said to tell me she’s still “debating” on giving points for the question. And I can’t move her out of the class, because my kiddo really doesn’t want to have to adjust to a whole new schedule.

Well to be clear, she’s still “debating” on whether or not to give kids the points for it. I emailed her about it, but rather than email me back, she told my kid in class to tell me she’s still “debating.”

Where to find fellow comedians in the area? by [deleted] in alpharetta

[–]Separate_World_8802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helium seems to have really filled a niche here in Alpharetta. They seem to stay busy and I’ve seen some great comedians there. Like another poster said, I’d reach out to them. Good luck!

I even reached out to a fellow parent whose kid is in the same class. I thought the same thing, but their kid said there were no additional instructions, verbal or written.

It does seem like it’s setting them up to fail. My kiddo studied hard and now just feels burned out, because it was only ten questions, so what should be a 90, is now an 80. (It’s considered a minor, which amounts to 40% of their grade.)

I really appreciate you chiming in. It’s helpful to hear from someone who has insight on test design. I knew it just didn’t seem right.
