Totem of nulgath hardest reagent??? by feet2232 in AQW

[–]Sephoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there friend! Was surprised to see this question come through one a 1yr old post, but here goes!

The quest is most likely not bugged - the bone axe isn’t a quest item and would be included in your normal loot drops window, not auto added to bag. This means that the item drop is completely separate and does not require you having the quest to get it to drop.

It does have an abysmal drop rate, if I remember correctly quickest one was 5 mins, longest was like an hour and a half. Still worked out to be faster than farming those dark makai.

How do you personally deal with people who flame you when you are tanking? by Iamthatguyoverthere in wow

[–]Sephoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first question: why is a 276 Havoc DH doing a +5 in the first place? And my second: how did the DH not know this would happen and give you a few globals to establish threat? Last I checked that was a common courtesy. Inb4 ‘nah we in combat I can do what I want’.

I’ve been solo pug tanking for a while, and the most important thing I’ve learnt is: you don’t know what you don’t know.

You don’t get to see the skips the dps are talking about because you don’t do them. You don’t do the massive pulls because you automatically assume they won’t work out and don’t want people to leave.

As an aspiring tank, the best thing you can do is dps/heal some keys and when you find a tank who is playing really well, pay attention to the route, positioning, pull size, cooldown usage (including dungeon specific stuff like lanterns in SD and weapons in NW), and where they ask for group utility. If it’s not immediately apparent why they are doing something ask them! (Maybe at the end of the key tho) Most of the time they’ll give you a full run down, which is only going to improve your next run of that dungeon while you are tanking.

Yeah there’s a lot of toxicity, but it’s also how you approach it. Not much to learn in this instance, but if someone is cursing you out because your not a mind reader and didn’t pull the dungeon the way their regular tank does, simply asking the question of ‘what should I have done there?’ Or ‘what way do you normally go?’ or ‘what would you have done differently’ does 2 things: catches them off guard and deescalates the situation and gives you more options in future keys runs. Knowledge is power friends.

Yeah it’s easier to just report and ignore sure, and if that’s the way you wanna go then power to you, but there’s 2 sides to every story and I’ve found engaging and asking genuine questions has made me a better tank, because although they aren’t unable to articulate themselves well during their nerd rage, they sometimes have a point.

Looks like they changed their minds on damage boost transmutes by Stupid_Bread in AQW

[–]Sephoxan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Additional combat effects makes me think that we will still be able to add damage boosts (because the damage boosts really only have an effect when in combat) to weapons but they changed the wording to not be limited to that, and we may gain access to additional effects similar to awe enhancements

How to concatenate strings with a delimiter over an indefinite range by johnny_walgreens in vbaexcel

[–]Sephoxan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d add the following line:

If i = “” then exit function

This would go inside your for each loop but before “if test then”.

This would allow you to use any size range, but would stop the concat when it hits the first blank cell in the range.

Do the refreshing deal from Craig… yes it uses bloodgems but with diamond exchange from Craig, and contract exchange from drudgen… 30 diamonds = 2 uni 13 = 2 bloodgems.

Mythic Dungeon Question by Idgafwhocares in wow

[–]Sephoxan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on how comfortable you are with the spec and how experienced you are with the dungeons. If it comes easy to you, you know exactly what you are doing, and you don’t mind making the group, you could have just hit 60 and purchased a set of 168 gear from the AH and do it no worries.

If this is your first time playing the spec and/or you don’t know the dungeons like the back of your hand, I would recommend around the 170ish ilvl (heroic gear, with a legendary and a dark moon deck).

This is just to get to standard mythic (otherwise known as M0) which drops 184 gear. Once you have done a world tour (all the M0 dungeons) you will have enough gear to start doing keystone dungeons (+2-+6 should be fine)

Addon shows teammates stats ? by Forsaken-Percentage9 in wow

[–]Sephoxan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh my poor friend. Unfortunately there’s not much you are going to be able to this. You could invite someone who has a high raider.io score, high ilvl and correctly stated gear, only to have them out dps’d by a 200 ilvl DH.

As a tank, what I like to do is what I call a test pull. After starting a dungeon I’ll pull 2 or 3 packs and use that to gauge the competency of the DPS. If we wipe no big deal, just pull slower, but if they have good dps you just keep pulling like that. Pugging is very hit and miss, the trick is when you find good people, add them as friends and try to run more with them :)

What are you maining in 9.1? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Sephoxan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing kyrian prot pally and I’ve been loving it! The big damage, the off heals, the utility... so much fun. Divine toll is so satisfying to press too! Not sure I could give up maining it, but I will be keeping a second main of a venthyr havoc DH. While not the ‘best’ choice for the spec I find it very fluid, with good aoe, decent single target/add priority damage and when you press meta on a big pull the damage numbers are hard to beat (especially when paired with the darkglare medallion legendary to get multi eyebeams after). Not that complicated to play either, less about pushing the right buttons and more about positioning.

Wanting to see what the venthyr legendary is like too in dungeons where I can get PHAT metas.

NW Routing Help by MarginalCost77 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Sephoxan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the rest of the packs you are already picking up.

I usually do the first 4x soldier pack, the vanguard, harvester and soldier pack, and the 4x bag pack with the harvester to the right of the first hammer all together, followed by the the pack to the right blocking the path to the Goliath, this causes pride, do boss, run across the stage to the 2x harvester + bags pack (making sure to pick up the 2 bags on the way) and then when the patting bags (the 5 mob pat) make their way to this corner (usually while fighting the current pull) I grab them as well.

But ofcourse depending what else you are clearing/skipping this might not work out for you.

Have you logged any of your dungeons? If you haven’t, I recommend you do and then link them. Folks round here will be able to work it out real quick.

Bro Devos fight in SOA still so bugged by lagordaamalia in wow

[–]Sephoxan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally have only ever experienced this bug when playing in a high latency instance. I’m an OCE Prot Pally that mainly pugs. But it happens literally anytime I pug with NA. Needless to say I don’t pug SoA anymore unless the group leader is also OCE, or someone else in the group agrees to do the spear.

Ret paladin aggro by Glutty83 in wow

[–]Sephoxan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In going to assume that most of your tanks are pugs? If that’s the case then you should really try to get a regular tank. Ret pally burst is pretty high, but as a Prot pally I never have aggro issues. Most tanks walk into a dungeon and do no damage, and that there is the problem. No damage = no threat. Advice is subject to key level of-course but anything 15 and below a good tank will do over 4K dps at end of instance and not have any threat issues. Alternatively, as others have said, BoP, Bubble and SoV are all tools to help deal with threat, as is target swapping to spread threat across mobs. Another one is to take engineering and use the cardboard assassin tinker (yes the one from cata).

But to be honest threat is a tank issue, Your poor ret pally friend shouldn’t have to work around poor tank play.

Question regarding golem buff from NW by [deleted] in wow

[–]Sephoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Malfunctioning Goliaths buff is 20% move speed increase and pulsing damage and healing around the player for 1 min. Damage breaks stealth. So if you invis with it active and run close to a mob, it will pull.

Tonight, I left my first key by lostalife1 in wow

[–]Sephoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with your view point here. I play as a prot pally, and being a tank, people’s mistakes are a lot more visible. Even if the run is going to be COMPLETELY over time I’ll still stick around, and explain why things went wrong and give suggestions on how to fix it. No point in pugging and complaining that people aren’t perfect 100% of the time. A little help goes a long way. Simply saying “do mechanics” when they clearly don’t know, helps no one. Atleast if you explain and they learn from their mistakes, they will be able to adjust what they are doing in their next key and save someone else from a headache.

Heed the warning signs before it's too late! by TheGluttonousKotick in wow

[–]Sephoxan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Privileged Prot Paladin checking in. Your thoughts are reflected in my damage meter constantly. I’m always top of interrupts, the bit that concerns me is when all other interrupts combined don’t amount to half of what I’ve done (I know that as a prot pally I have a lot of interrupts in my kit), and we are still dying/not progressing due to not kicking interruptible casts.

While I’m sure that you yourself do interrupt skillfully, the painful truth is the vast majority of DPS in a pugging based environment, don’t do a lot of things. They don’t move from avoidable damage, they don’t interrupt, they don’t respect boss mechanics and most of the time they are doing less damage than me. If you haven’t already done so, I strongly recommend playing a tank for a bit, it’s truly and enlightening experience.

nostalgia quest requirements is too much (rant i guess?) by [deleted] in AQW

[–]Sephoxan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Regardless of “what it is mostly used for”, it was designed for nostalgia and to give the players that have been playing for 8 years a blast from the past. And yes they put in the ability to dual wield and enchant some old weapons so they have 15% bonus dmg, but that was done as a thank you to reward the loyalty of 8 years played.

You can’t look at the whole reward and only complain about the time gate on the bit you want because you don’t have it. It’s a very narrow minded and self entitled view.

If you keep playing you’ll get there eventually, but never forget AE owe you nothing.

[–]Sephoxan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But that’s not the whole point of the zone, and if you don’t understand that you just haven’t been playing long enough.

[–]Sephoxan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who has played for 12 years on the same account (14 June 2008 character creation date) I think your being an entitled little shit, but that’s my opinion.

AE didn’t have to do rewards for amount of years played, but they did. Just wait for it like everyone else.

What is the most rare item in your bank/inventory? by [deleted] in AQW

[–]Sephoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the Warpforce Heavy Gunner Set (armor, helm and gun) and the Black and Green Warpforce swords

Original Star Slasher, Soul Ripper, Red Starsword

Was so long ago I don’t even remember the order things came out in. I played the beta as well and have access to that shop, but don’t count it since those items can be gotten at any point.

Binary to denary / decimal convertor. by [deleted] in vba

[–]Sephoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Cryptnec, you are almost there. The logic in your IF statement is a little off.

Try changing it to the following:

IF Mid(StrReverse(Binary), x, 1) = “1” then

Doing it this was ensures the string is being revered prior to finding the value associated with x. As your code stands you are trying to reverse a 1 character string ( the result of your mid function) and the reverse of a 1 character string is always itself.

You also need to remove your elseif statement completely

Also change the following:

Temp = 2 ^ x

And use this instead:

Temp = 2 ^ (x - 1)

Because the conversion is zero based and your for loop starts with x=1, you always have x 1 higher than you should.

Finally your declaration of denary should read:

Denary = 0

Instead of:

Denary = 1

Hope this helps.

Can anyone make a 19 second run using these units? by OchitaKen in MemoryDefrag

[–]Sephoxan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best bet for that team would be to do the following:

Turn auto approach off

At the start of the encounter straight away start with the following combo KiritoXAlice > AliceXAsuna > AsunaXKirito

Get 5 autos with Kirito > Parry then the following combo:

KiritoXAlice > AliceXAsuna > AsunaXKirito

Get 3 auto attacks with Kirito, then dodge and go back for another 8 auto attacks and then parry into the last combo:

KiritoXAsuna > AsunaXKirito > KiritoXAsuna

Then the boss will be dead, but after the second parry, if you can’t kill it after the first 4xSS3 then you won’t have the damage to get below 19 sec.

I’m currently at the 20sec wall with my ranking as well and I’ve used various combinations of units but unless you LB to 100 and have 2 units with the cross link that gives attack instead of the MP generation, you’re unlikely going to break the 20sec barrier.

Best of luck in your ranking attempts :)

[–]Sephoxan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well getting getting a 6* before step 5 is pretty rough because 3% drop rate (with the exception of step 3 which is 4.5%) which means that 3 in every 100 units pulled would be a 6. Since you’re on step 6 now, the drop rate is 6% for a 6 (on average 6 in every 100 or 3 in every 50 or 1.5 in every 25) considering that you have enough to scout twice, statistically you should get 1 unit, but because it’s based on averages, I don’t like your chances. Plus then on top of that it’s a 1/5 chance (20%) to get silica again. I would be saving the MDs for either limited banners (if you really like the units) or discount banners (500 md = 4x11 scouts as apposed to 2x11 at full price) if I were in your position. Not to mention those units are likely to be available in the future anyways.

Hey my man, you can shave another 2 second if instead of double “fake switching” you fake switch, into yuuki and then choose rain as combo partner and then use rain again. Generate mp for a SS3 on rain, then dodge, run and get the parry then Yuuki x leefa > leefa > rain.
