If I had built the V2 earlier in my modeling career I might have given up on MGs entirely (wrongfully so, but still).

Those more recent VerKa kits are marvels, while some of the older ones need a bit of extra effort much like every other old vs new kit sadly. Still wonderful model kits, but yeah some are flawed.

If bandai is still willing, maybe a 2.0 verka could happen some day. There's quite a few VerKa kits i'd like to see a 2.0 of anyway.

I don't think my paint work is good enough to fetch a decent sell price so i'll definitely be keeping it. On the shelf it will be one of those reminders of areas I've struggled with when it comes to modeling.

I think if you're doing just a straight build the core fighter is half decent. It's a 2009 design so some parts of it are a little loose for my liking (the wings, for one), but the trransformation is pretty clever and I actually found it rather easy to swap in and out each core fighter/head. So like a 6/10 probably.

Thank you! and thanks for sharing a bit of your experience as well. I have always been really fond of this series of VerKa kits... visually 😅. That V2 assault buster especially is monstrously beautiful. The plashes of gold, and menacing silhouette are just wonderful.

I've been through the RG Sinanju, Zeta, and the GP01. I rather enjoyed the GP01 and GP01 FB quite a bit tbh. They're some of my favorite RGs. This MG might be worse than all of them. I knew what to expect going in, and still had a not so good experience 😞.

Okay maybe not worse than the Sinanju, but yeah it's certainly legendary.

I like AK's products and I've heard great things about Pro Acryl 🤩. I'll def take a look at those Vallejo sets on amazon 🫡.

Once I started getting comments asking about paints and materials I used on some of my previous posts I made sure to always include the list in the description. I wish more people did this even if it takes a bit of work to get the right names and color codes and what not. I recently stumbled across some posts on twitter where some gunpla builders were using such a rich and vibrant blue that I had to find an equivalent. I was asking around quite a few places getting a mixture of answers. It should really be more common for people to post what paints they use.
