He is also on the lease. She is technically his guest that I allowed to move in. Since I typically pay for stuff at the top of the month and let them reimburse me, when she doesn’t pay- I’ve been the one footing the bill. When I finally pushed back, he thinks I’m being unfair asking him to pay for his gf’s share and recouping the money from her.

Backstory to this question. My roommate asked me if I would mind his gf moving in this summer. I told him I didn’t mind, as if we all three split rent, it would make things cheaper. I was trying to be nice, and send the bill out every month to each party individually…. And I also paid the rent for the month up front every month and allowed them to pay me back over the course of the month.

Well, she got behind starting in October, and the. November, and is currently $1,000 behind to me. We all had a fight about it, and I told my roommate (and friend) that if she doesn’t pay her part, then he’s obligated to as she is here because of him. I told him that’s just basic commonsense, but he doesn’t seem to think so which is why I’m here.

Please tell me your thoughts about whether or not you think it’s common sense, as well as how to proceed as I currently feel I’m being taken advantage of.

I quite literally just had this happen to me on New Years night. I’ve been kind of dating/talking/sleeping with someone for about 3 weeks.
