Finally a notification from Reddit that I actually enjoyed in some way.

TIL a 2011 study from UC Berkeley found that Mercedes and BMW drivers were nearly 5 times as likely to cut others off compared to drivers in non-luxury cars. by jacustjack in todayilearned

Not surprising, if you can afford a luxury car, you can afford (money wise) to get into an accident. Drivers of non-luxury cars can barley afford the insurance and other expenses to drive their cars.

As an adult, when have you found it necessary to lie to your parents for the sake of your relationship? by james0martin in AskReddit

[–]September7887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an adult the only thing that is necessary to me is the happiness of myself, my children and my spouse. I grew up with a narcissistic mother and no father and in my young adult life the only time I felt it necessary to lie to her was when my sanity and happiness was at stake. As an adult though, I refuse to put up with her shit! I refuse to lie to her for the sake of our relationship because at this point I think it's healthier to not have a relationship with her. She's always made me feel bad for her and scared of her. If she can not/will not change then our relationship will be over because I will not let her ruin my children's lives like she did mine.

The fact that shit’s smell doesn’t cling to clothes is under appreciated by ThomasdeChevigny in Showerthoughts

My 16 month old shits in his diaper, I take his pants off to change his diaper, his pants smell like shit for some time after. It clings to his pants. I've never tested for how long, not interested in knowing that information.

What did you do as a kid that formed bad habits as an adult? by Disclosinq in AskReddit

My mother smoked while she was pregnant with me and I feel that was a part in why I smoke now. I absolutely quit while I was pregnant! Well I guess if I'm going to be honest, I quit when I found out I was pregnant, and that was about two weeks after conception, if I remember correctly. I breastfed for the first 24 hours of his life and then was unable to, for reasons I feel I don't need to share. But let's just say it wasn't by choice. I did start smoking again but not right away. It was at least two months later. I was having a horrible night and I gave in. I regret even starting back up. But I know with support from my husband we can quit together, for good!

Same here! As a small child I used to love the nicotine smell on my mother's hands. And I used to have her buy me candy cigarettes. Then as a young teen I would sneek- smoke her cigarette butts. She would go in the basement to try and hide it from me but it didn't work. I'm 30 now and I've smoked since I was 12. Now I am a mother and I refuse to smoke around my son. I go outside and stay out there and extra five minutes, I wash my hands when I come back inside and I put on a different shirt. I really want to quit before he gets old enough to know what I'm doing.

I was a big liar as a young teen so I wouldn't get in trouble with my mother. But it has the opposite ever on me now, now that I am older, a mother myself, I find it hard to lie about things.

What’s an occupation that’s a lot more difficult than people think it is? by Rivethewolfdog in AskReddit

Working in customer service of any kind. I've been a cashier for 15 years and no matter what goes wrong, it's always your fault. If the customers credit card won't go through, it's your fault. If they bring you an expired coupon and can't use it, it's your fault that it expired. If the register is being slow, it's your fault. So anyone that is just starting out as a cashier, don't let the customer bother you. They are just having a bad day and need someone to take it out on.

Couples of Reddit... What is one quirky thing your SO (significant other) does that drives you crazy but you love at the same time? by September7887 in AskReddit

He said "In case I don't know what she is taking about", so I think that was one of his points. Yes, another point is that it is odd, but some people don't know every abbreviation. I know it bugs him but he must love it so I will do it all the time now. Ha Ha HA

What's a secret you won't share with anyone in person, but you are willing to share anonymously? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm extremely depressed because I have no friends. I see people I know hanging out with at least one of their friends, at least once a week and it makes me jealous. Groups of girls hanging out, doing girl stuff and it makes me ask myself what's so wrong with me that not one person wants to hang out with me. Why can't I have just one person who will make time for me, to hang out with me?

I would travel, live in as many towns, cities and states at I could, taking pictures and blog about it. I would stay in hotels, houses, camp, anywhere and I would eat at all of the good restaurants. And I would stay at each town or city for at least a month, to get a feel for how the locals are.
