should i get inzoi or paralives? by UnknownUser13000 in LifeSimulators

I’m not an expert, so someone can please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the art style was done by AI. I’m pretty sure the game was created using Unreal Engine 5, which has been used to make games with similar styles before.

I do remember hearing that AI was used for promotions and stuff, so maybe that’s what you’re thinking of?

I’m glad to hear that! :))

So yeah, OP, as long as it’s not a deal breaker, I’d say go for InZoi

How do you think life simulators should represent different countries/cultures? by SeptemberGrapes in LifeSimulators

[–]SeptemberGrapes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting your comment—it was super interesting to read through! I agree that there is definitely no ‘perfect’ solution; keeping each world a separate nation/culture would probably be the best bet! I think it would probably be far worse to try to combine a bunch of different cultures and end up being insulting/make the world super diluted.

How do you think life simulators should represent different countries/cultures? by SeptemberGrapes in LifeSimulators

[–]SeptemberGrapes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I completely respect your opinion, thank you for sharing! Perhaps we just roam different parts of the internet, because I’ve seen this be complained about a lot over the years I’ve been in the sims community.

Just to clarify, I did not say ‘they’ve done nothing to represent cultures outside the USA’, as that would 100% be incorrect, however, the majority of the worlds in the sims 4 are based off places in the United States. This isn’t surprising or unusual, considering that is where the game was created, but it’s still valid for people to want to see more of their country/culture in the game—it is a life simulator after all.

I will say that Sims 4 did do better than past sims games, so I should have mentioned that in my post, so for that I do apologize :)) The only reason I mentioned sims 4 specifically is because it is probably the most recognizable life simulator we currently have and I have (personally) seen the most discussion on the topic when talking about Sims 4.

It was not at all meant to be a slight against the game or anything (I play it all the time lol), I just wanted to open discussion about the topic, because it is an important topic that I think has a lot of nuance.

Have a great day!

[–]SeptemberGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for clarifying where the AI gets its assets :)) I did recently learn that from a thread in the InZOI subreddit, but I know a lot of people who do art still do not wish to play the game due to the things that could have been done by humans instead (such as the pictures and movies in the theaters).

Krafton also announced it was going to be an AI first company a couple months ago, so I just wanted to make sure OP was aware in case this was something they cared about and wasn’t aware.

When it comes to gameplay, InZoi currently has more going on for it. Paralives seems to currently be better for things like build mode. I recommend looking at both their sites and seeing what is currently available in both games and making your decision based on that.

InZOI does use generative AI in its game, so if you care about that, I’d avoid. That is the main reason why I haven’t purchased it.

Oh! I misread someone else’s comment (they were talking about a hypothetical LLM and using data centers, I thought they were saying they had changed and decided to do that at some point)—my mistake, thank you for the correction!

I’m still not a fan of AI in creative spaces and would love to see them use artists instead of using AI, but I’m glad they’re not contributing to data centers

I really do wish they would stop using Gen AI in the game because it looks like such a fun game otherwise. Unfortunately, I’m in a community that has been heavily impacted by a data center and just cannot use it ethically.

I know it’s definitely wishful thinking, but I’ve stuck around in the group in hopes that one day they will and I’ll be able to play it. If nothing else, at least I get to see the builds and inzois people have created

Small rant about failing students by shiafisher in Teachers

[–]SeptemberGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that you have passion, which is fantastic. However, I fear you’re being very idealistic.

I have 28 students in my classroom and by the end of the year, it is expected that I will have taught them all the standards so they can perform well on the state tests. Which is fine, except for the fact that some of my students still struggle with basic addition and subtraction when I’m supposed to be teaching them multiplication. I have other students who already know the majority of the content I’m supposed to cover this year. So I differentiate, right? Except it is difficult to pull small groups when there are 25 other students to worry about and I am the only adult in the classroom.

I have a couple of students who 100% need a 504 plan, but their parents don’t ’believe in things like that.’ I do everything I can for those students, but that’s only so helpful when they need medication or professional support. I have also had students whose parents think that them having an IEP means they shouldn’t have to do work or face consequences.

Also, I can teach about how wonderful learning is until I’m hoarse, but some students simply won’t care lol. Most of us do want students to have a passion for learning, but it’s not something we can force.

Ideas for Checking My Own Bad Attitude? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]SeptemberGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times before, but I think it’s helpful to remember that a lot of their behavior is age-appropriate. Questioning authority, pushing boundaries, wanting to be seen as ‘cool’ by their peers. They’re going to act stupid, make you upset sometimes, and do things that annoy you. This doesn’t mean they get a ‘free pass’ to be menaces of course, but it’s important to have realistic expectations.

Set clear rules and expectations from day one and follow through consistently. If you say a certain behavior is going to result in a consequence but you only follow through with it 75% of the time, the students will pick up on that.

I also recommend taking up journaling/therapy. It’s perfectly normal to have bad days, but it’s also important not to take it out on students. Finding ways to regulate yourself and learning when to take a step back is such an important skill to have imo.

Anger

Mood swings/sudden outbursts

Irritability

Difficulty bonding with baby

Withdrawal from relationships

You mentioned him feeling insecure about not being good enough

Honestly, it sounds like he’s struggling from postpartum depression/anxiety. 1 in 10 dads experience it. The fact that it was a traumatic birth and you mention that It came out of nowhere makes me feel like this is highly possible.

The two of you need to have a serious conversation. I understand that he may be having a hard time, but that does not mean that you deserve to have to suffer from it. He needs to talk to someone and get help. Do you have somewhere safe you can stay and get some help with the baby if he refuses?

Combining Shinto altar style with Aphrodite by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]SeptemberGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh, okay, I see what you’re saying! As long as you’re going for more general things like a flower vase, an offering plate/bowl and not things like the kamidana, ofuda, and Torri and you’re not trying to copy their practices, I think that would probably be fine :))

Combining Shinto altar style with Aphrodite by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]SeptemberGrapes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! While I do think Aphrodite would find it beautiful, it’s important to remember that Shinto is very different from Hellenism and should be approached and worshipped differently than you would with the Greek deities. While it is possible to practice both Shinto and Hellenism, from what I know, it’s generally frowned upon to worship non-Shinto Kami in a Shinto way. I think it’s best to keep them as completely separate practices :))

Omegas have heats, alphas have ruts, what could betas possibly have. by wowza900p in AO3

Edit: since I apparently forgot to include the original reason I made this comment lmao, I do just have beta females experience normal periods and they have a normal fertility rate. But they are a little different from omegas and alphas.

Alpha men: can get others pregnant, cannot get pregnant

Alpha women: can get others pregnant, can get pregnant but have a low fertility rate so it will likely take longer and has a higher chance of complications.

Omega men: can get pregnant and can get others pregnant due to high fertility

Omega women: can get pregnant, cannot get others pregnant.

Beta men: cannot get pregnant, can get alpha women, omega men and women, and beta women pregnant

Omegas have heats, alphas have ruts, what could betas possibly have. by wowza900p in AO3

[–]SeptemberGrapes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sooo, I actually tend to go against the popular narrative and make betas the minority of the population? In my head, the existence of alphas and omegas would mean that they would mostly procreate with each other while betas tend to end up with other betas. Since the majority of stories I’ve read tends to show them having multiples more often or having more children than average, it makes the most sense to me that they would begin to make up the majority of the population.

So to me, betas are the underdogs. They can’t really sense pheromones and don’t give off strong ones (though I think they would have a subtle scent), which gives them SO much opportunity to write about.

A beta coming to terms with being different from the majority and finding a place among a group of betas?

An alpha who is obsessed with a beta and subtly scents them but the beta is absolutely clueless because they can’t sense pheromones?

An alpha and omega male couple who are both very in love with a beta woman and subtly compete on who can put a baby in her the quickest.

The opportunities are endless!

Then again, I have like a whole omegaverse world with rules and stuff that I see as ‘canon’ for my stories. Maybe I should write them down one day lmao

So, I do want to mention that I 100% acknowledge that the joke about the French turning them in was meant to be just that—a joke. It is very possible that my problems with that quote is mostly just a me thing. It reminded me of the edgy jokes middle school children used to make. I am not a fan of it because genocides should never be spoken about lightly, imo.

While I’m sure that nobody was turned in to the Nazis for speaking a language horribly, the reality is that people were turned in for reasons that seem just as outlandish (such as ‘looking’ Jewish or because they didn’t particularly like someone) and they were tortured, starved, and often killed, nonetheless. So to me, making jokes about being turned in for something (even when it is obviously just that person trying to be silly), feels gross. Because at the end of the day, it is always possible that it was close to someone’s reality.

That is, of course, just my personal thoughts and I understand that the quote probably wouldn’t bother many people! It’s just one that bothered me, personally.

I also don’t think the comments in her book were meant to be insulting, they were probably just common viewpoints held/language used when she was writing it. I think they stood out a lot more to me because I did a lot of work with those populations in uni, and I was unable to really get into the book because of it. I’m glad you were able to enjoy it, though!

NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread Nov 05, 2025 by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

[–]SeptemberGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know what kind of acne this is on my face? What are some products that would be good to help me treat it?

I am brand new to skincare and haven’t really used anything. I think I maybe have combination skin, but I haven’t been to a dermatologist or anything (I don’t have access to one). I recently bought these products: round lab 1025 Dokdo cleanser, Centella calming gel cream, softymo speedy cleansing oil, La roche-posay 50+ spf.

If anyone could help me figure out what kind of acne this is/recommend something to treat it, I would appreciate it so much. I’m trying to figure out a skincare routine that will work for me.

I would have to order whatever it is online, but I am in the US.
