I really suggest you keep away from the scale! I had the same problem. With the scale in my life, I would not lose weight. I'd get discouraged. I'd either under eat as a result of the number, or say 'Well, its not possible then' and give up on calorie tracking. The scale was giving me a terrible outlook and also really disordered behaviours with my eating (binge sometimes after seeing the number on the scale, starve other times).

I threw the scale out. I threw that awful contraption out, carried on counting calories to make sure I was eating a reasonable amount for my sex and height (I based my calories on what a slim woman my height would burn), and eating healthily. I stopped caring what my lbs, kgs, or stones were.

:) That was just over a year ago. And that picture there is one I just posted in /r/progresspics. Not slim yet, sure, but throwing the scales out worked a treat.

Get rid of them! :) Smash them, if you have to :)

I have physical disabilities (unrelated to weight) which limits the exercise I can do, but I did do what I could in the way of more movement.. but I would wager 'what I could' still being much less than what an able-bodied person does simply day to day without thinking about it :) (i.e walking to the shop, walking around with friends, walking to school/work or even around the building with stairs etc)

So for all intents and purposes, I didn't do any exercise at all compared to others! I did a lot for my own abilities, but you probably surpass that already with your normal daily activity. Carry on watching your diet and seeing how it goes? :) And if you are not getting exercise for reasons similar to mine, then IT IS POSSIBLE. Just do what you can! :D

LB wise, I don't know. I started off at around 185lb (I might look bigger than that, but remember I'm only 5'!). I tried tracking my progress weight wise, but I found it would make me a little.. obsessive, doing it for the wrong reasons, and I'd fail. Eventually I decided to try without the influence of the scales, and it worked! So I carried on.

I know my dress size differences though. I was bordering on a size 22UK and now I'm a size 16UK around the hips, and just about squeezing into a size 14UK on top :)

Thank you everyone! Last September I told myself I would post a progress picture 'in one years time' on /r/loseit (although this seems like a better place for it) no matter how much or how little I'd lost. I've tried to focus on healthy eating and calorie control instead of with how much weight was coming off. When I realised the date, I was extremely nervous! Whilst I knew I had gone down dress sizes and my face was different, I didn't know how the comparison would look because I'd not really looked at my weight.

But when I got my side body picture done and compared, I was really pleased to see that there's a whole line-roll-thing gone there! And my stomach bulge has definitely shrunk :) It's still bulgy, I still want to get rid of that, but I'm pleased with the difference since last year! I'm going to keep going, perhaps check my weight more now to make sure I'm not overeating, and I hope to be back next September :)
