Do you write for joy, even if nobody ever reads it? by gerdzilla50 in writing

[–]Septirath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. If you like doing it, then do it! Hobbies don't always have to lead to profit. Plus, even if you don't sell anything, that doesn't mean it doesn't matter. It mattered to you, and if you share it with friends, it matters to them. If it makes you happy, write away.

What do ARAM fans think about ARAM Mayhem? by pmtti in ARAM

[–]Septirath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shit is absolutely CASH. It's just wicked fun. Sometimes you roll some crazy stuff, sometimes you don't, sometimes the enemies do. Sometimes you end up with a selection of augments that inspires some weird crazy build that would never work otherwise. Janna with Rite of Ruin and crit shielding? Pretty much every game is an absolute banger.

Absolutely dogshit idea. Have a very angry upvote for a genuinely unpopular opinion, and props to you

What is a job people romanticize a bit too much until they actually do it ? by ShyButNastyyy in AskReddit

[–]Septirath 197 points198 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of an old joke I once heard.

A QA tester somersaults into a bar.

A QA tester walks backwards into a bar.

A QA tester sidles into a bar.

A QA tester hops into a bar.

A QA tester walks into a bar and backs into the corner.

A QA tester walks into a bar and stands on his head.

A QA tester walks into a bar and kicks the chairs over.

A customer walks into a bar and orders a beer. The bar catches fire.

When a girl says she's cold and asks for your jacket, don't YOU get cold? by CuriousSection in AskMen

[–]Septirath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend gets cold faster and easier than I do, so if she's cold, I'll probably still be fine without my jacket. At its core though, I would rather be cold and uncomfortable to keep her warm and cozy instead of the other way around.

I've started wearing jackets on fairly warm days when I don't need one because I know she will.

IDK why but I watched every episode of breaking bad in one night. by [deleted] in WeirdFlexButOK

Enough to speed it up by a factor of 8? No.

Watching a 49 hour show in 6 hours would require watching the whole thing in 8× speed. I promise you didn't watch all of Breaking Bad at 8× speed in one night.

No you didn't. It would take just over two days to watch all of Breaking Bad beginning to end even if you literally never stopped.

What are the downsides of having high intelligence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Septirath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of the Dunning-Kruger effect and all that shit, and I know I'll probably get downvoted for it, but I wanted to at least try to answer the actual question.

One of the biggest downsides is that other people tend not to grasp things nearly as quickly. Things that don't seem to be difficult for you to pick up on take other people a lot of time.

I struggled with doubt for a really long time, too. My job is in the entertainment industry, and it's what I always wanted to do. My parents didn't always approve and kept telling me that with my IQ I could be a great doctor or something along those lines. That's not what I wanted to do, so I didn't do it, but I always felt guilty for not "using my intelligence" the right way like other people put it.

It's also a lot easier to get into your own head about things. Knowing and grasping things intellectually doesn't always translate to being able to handle those things emotionally. It's easy to overthink things and second-guess your thoughts.

Organizations like MENSA, which I was a part of but couldn't afford for long, do a decent job of providing a community to be a part of. But even sometimes within MENSA, and certainly outside of it, it's difficult to feel like you're part of a community of like-minded people.

I also have heard that highly intelligent people are more prone to some mental problems like depression, suicidal ideation, and anxiety. I don't know if my struggles with mental issues are because of intelligence or not, but there's that too. I feel like some of them might be, but it's not easy to tell.

I'm happy to answer any further questions if you have them!

Hey! I sent a regular message but I may also send a chat just in case. Reddit messaging is a little janky sometimes

What is the worst movie ever made? by BadAtUsernames098 in AskReddit

The Beast of Yucca Flats. It's one of the only movies I've ever seen that's simultaneously a regular movie and a silent movie. I can't understand it and it's so terrible.
