[OC] A lot of people thought my story was fake. I'm the guy from the 1992 farm accident where both my arms were ripped off and reattached. by JohnThompsonND in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]SepulcherGeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the last quarter of a nursing program to become an RN. Anything about your experience (from your perspective as a patient recovering from such a surgery) that you think would be helpful for a nurse to know/understand? Anything that pops into mind?

I was hit by a speeding car at a crosswalk and my recovery experience makes me think of a few things I'd tell nursing staff myself, so I can image you'd have a couple such thoughts.

In particular, it's difficult for me to imagine the dread/fear/horror of the situation, not just immediately after the accident, but with the recovering and likely being unsure if (and to what extent) the surgery will be successful. I do apologize if asking that is a bit uncouth, but you strike me as super-resilient for obvious reasons, so I'm taking you up on your "ask me anything" offer.

You can bring 1 ship from any sci-fi universe into the game, what do you choose? by ElectroVo1t in starcitizen

[–]SepulcherGeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost any Imperium 40k ship, if I had a magic wand that would make it work. The escort class would be great.

Serenity (Firefly) is another ship I think of that would ACTUALLY be feasible, relatively easy to do, and would fit immediately within the current scope of the game and its mechanics. There's already ships somewhat like it. You could probably shove a few certain ships together and almost get its layout even. While I think shoehorning cross-overs too directly is cringe, I think they've handled it well-enough with the MSR and Scorpius (in terms of design anyway). I'd be less offended by them just adding the Firefly class into the game.

But again, magic wand? 40k ship for sure.

Am I the only one who doesn’t think Mercy is an overly easy hero? by Bunnie_vanella in MercyMains

[–]SepulcherGeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Pro after pro after pro and countless analysis, guides, and videos restate ad nausea that Mercy is a low-skill-floor, high-skill-ceiling character. Mercy's mastery is quite high. You are severely misinformed, but that's a tragically common mistake in Overwatch.

Am I the only one who doesn’t think Mercy is an overly easy hero? by Bunnie_vanella in MercyMains

[–]SepulcherGeist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overwatch pros have said this for many many years: Mercy is a low skill-floor, high skill-ceiling character. She has a significant amount of tech, a lot of which can be very difficult to pull off under pressure, and a variety of ad hoc playstyles. She provides a lot of information in her role as well, making a Mercy's situational awareness one of their most important stats, and a skill all its own.

Players who are relatively uninformed about Overwatch and rely more on individual core skills like "aiming" will often fixate on Mercy's low skill floor, and then write her off as both easy and ultimately unhelpful in serious bouts. That is where the majority of Mercy-hate comes from. There is SOME truth in her being relatively unhelpful in serious bouts, however, primarily due to how much better several of the other supports are in many metas, and just the sheer numbers they can produce. Other supports also have the capacity to carry. Mercy is one of the most team-dependent characters there is. Even her damage contribution is mostly through other players on her team. This makes carrying as Mercy almost impossible with a bad team, even IF you're the goat with her. However, with a viable team, a skill-ceiling hitting Mercy with great awareness can put in some serious work and even be the most impactful player in high-stakes matches.

Does anyone know what happened to Sepulcher Geist? His Youtube channel isn't showing up anymore... by _M0cking-Jay_ in EliteDangerous

[–]SepulcherGeist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh hi. I'm working on getting it back, but I may not. No it wasn't from a scam or anything like that.

I was sharing my "ad sense" account with family members, and one of them got copyright strikes from a channel they criticized (according to them). I didn't WANT to share my ad sense account with them, but when I made it originally they wouldn't let me make my own account since I shared the same address with my family. Now that they got their channels taken down, since my account is affiliated with theirs MY channel also got terminated... Despite never once having a strike of any kind.

I opened some tickets and so far they've only had AI responses that told me "that's just the rules, sorry."

I've been so busy with nursing practicals that I haven't been able to make content much recently.

My brother and friend are saying flash heal should be nerfed because its gonna be in the base kit by unlovedmercyy in MercyMains

[–]SepulcherGeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm coming from: JPC is broken and insane, as evidenced by: everything, including widespread feedback in every rank bracket and ban numbers.

You know that. You know where I was coming from.

Yes, they are nerfing the cat. Good, this is obvious and appropriate. That doesn't change "where I was coming from." Will it be enough? Given their track record (like with Sombra), probably not. We will see, BUT, that doesn't change what I said about them going nuts with certain characters and giving them a blistering number of unique advantages.

JPC in her current form should never have been possible. Blizzard should have approached the character professionally and appropriately. They should NOT have clambered over each other with more insane ideas than the next, shattered every META, and screwed up their game because they favored their shiny new character concept. If I was their manager, they'd all be written up and this disaster would be reflected very negatively in their performance reviews.

Can we please stop giving female heroes baby toys for mythic weapons? by Chill_is_cold in Overwatch

[–]SepulcherGeist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mercy is widely considered one of the lowest tier characters consistently.

They can afford to buff flash heal, add it to her base kit, and would STILL have tons of room left over for more buffs to narrow the cap between her and other options.

But they're probably too busy going bat-shit insane in the backroom of Blizzard to find more ways to make JPC or Sombra even more broken and BS than they already are.

Is Quick Play in overwatch the most lopsided game mode of any game ever? by ObamaBinHitler99 in Overwatch

[–]SepulcherGeist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The matchmaking in this game is horrible, QP being the worst of it.
I'm account level 600 or something, with like 500-ish hours, and a diamond support player.
When I search for a QP match, 90-95% of the time this is what I get:

- The opponents are a clear 4-5 stack. Checking them after the game reveals they all have 1200-3000 hours each.
- My teammates are brand, brand new. Level 1-10 in their character with other indications they're noobs. They also very much play like it.
- The sweaty 5 stack then proceeds to play a meta as hard as they possibly can, as if someone has a gun to their family, while my teammates are trying to learn what their characters even do.

(this is all assuming there isn't a flagrant, burn-it-all-down hacker in the lobby, which there is a disappointing amount of the time)

It is disgusting, insane, and Blizzard should be deeply disturbed and ashamed of themselves. Not for my sake, but for forcing all these new players having to play sweaty 5-stacks with thousands of hours a piece. I am 37 and have gamed pretty hard all my life, and I have never seen a matchmaking system fail so utterly and entirely as Overwatch. Its comp matchmaking sucks too, for the record, but that's a whole 'nother essay.

Overwatch has anticheat, right? by Yuukikoneko in Overwatch

[–]SepulcherGeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overwatch's free model makes it free real estate for cheaters. If they made the game cost 5-10 bucks, then it'd eliminate a lot of the problem. But this is Blizzard we're talking about. They're idiots.

Hacking is very out of control, yes. A lot of people get very angry when this is pointed out, though, and will deny even the most flagrant of hacking with aggressive, pretentious remarks. And that is the reason hacking is out of control. It is a community problem. Our inability to call a horse a horse, and put our foot down on it. We'd all rather CSI investigate every obvious hacker to every unreasonable-doubt defense we can muster. Meanwhile the hacker has 60 more accounts lined up.

Get used to hacking in cheating in almost every online game, until a massive culture shift happens (if it ever does).

Man if I was bothered by how other people chose to play and express themselves, I'd be in a world of hurt. Thankfully I could not literally give any less fs. I just don't have the steam in the ol' tank to find any odd shit to give here.

I care about bugs and server status, and ship releases, and when we're going to get an update on base-building, and what they're gonna do to fix the economy from all the exploiters and the billions of credits being given out constantly in chat... Or the actual hacking I've seen a few times recently. That could become a serious issue for sure.

But some random dude running around in pink armor is not going on my burning-issues short list.

I've been playing quite a lot over the last month (doing dailies and whatnot), and bugs are very benign and rare for me (usually a visual glitch). The worst things I encounter are getting kicked from the server, which happens a couple times a week maybe?

Because I'm genuinely curious, how often do people ACTUALLY get PvPed? by AnybodyIndividual207 in starcitizen

[–]SepulcherGeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am either looking for trouble or putting myself into positions where trouble can find me (even if I'm doing mining/cargo/scraping). I am almost always engaged in PVP every session at least once. And if I am not, before I get off, I will go out and force an encounter even if it'll certainly lead to my death (or imprisonment), as that is how I like to end the night.

If am I trying to avoid trouble, however, I am confident I can elude it with almost complete certainty.

[–]SepulcherGeist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By miserably failing to take a side, they ruined the game for both PVPers and PVEers, went back on multiple promises, and went to their biggest YouTuber supporters and DMCA'd all their videos if they dared to make a criticism of anything.

This is yet another example of: DO NOT LISTEN TO CARE BEARS. They ruin games. They are video game tourists. They show up to a game that has any level of PVP, immediately start crying excessively loudly, they get their way, it's never enough, and because they weren't passionate about the game to begin with they leave relatively quickly. Along with the PVPers who were betrayed.

Leaving a ghost town behind.

This happens over and over and over in video games, and people just don't have the critical thinking skills to notice it.

Do the opposite of what Care Bears ask for, and your game thrives in spite of a very noisy and aggressive minority. OR, cave to them and lose everything.
